Okay, yeah, we're staying under control. We don't have to turn it today. That's good. Ideally, we'd want to turn it every 3-ish days. Hey, Ham. Hey, bad Ham.
Okay, you grab those sides. I'll grab this side.
You know what's crazy? John left, just had to go on his lesson. That means Jonah was left to his pigs by himself, and now he's down here picking up nets. Does that mean he got done with the pigs by himself? Let's go find out. Look at this guy bent over. Been a while since you've done that, huh? Does that mean you're done with the pigs? No. Oh, they're, they're still Oh, you just opened it up for them?
Yeah.
But you moved the feeder? You're getting the water filled up? Really?
I'm stuck.
Get unstuck. We gotta go get the alfalfa.
Okay, my biggest buns, it's time to show the famous baby.
Uh-oh.
The famous baby in the world. Baby says baby is going to be showed tomorrow. He's kind of grumpy this afternoon. You want to see his face? Okay, people. Famous baby is having a bad day. A worse day. I'm having a real bad day. Yeah, that's Henry. But I'm gonna have to be the star of the show today.
I've been going since 7:00. I'm not hurting that bad.
Ah, nice. Oh, look, the sheep are in Rich Rollins. Jonah, they're gonna run right between me and you, buddy. Okay, come back.
Then use the trees there.
I'm just making sure that They don't go that way.
Okay, because they could. Come on, keep hurting them, Gideon.
There they go, they're going down the path. That's what you wanted. There we go, look, they know what's up. Look at him riding that bike up the hill. Going on in here.
I'm going— I'm doing my—
what are you shopping for?
Well, I'm not shopping. I have to do this. We have to buy doors.
Doors. I told her just search the internet. The best money can buy.
Stop it. We destroyed that bee's nest in the barn.
Nice!
How? We poked it.
They're boys.
And it fell over.
Hey, my man, eat up. You've been working hard. It's one of those instances where I feel like I've got to do 3 things right now. Did you get water going to the pigs? Is it going in strong? No. Did you clean out the deep pressure regulator? Like yesterday, you flipped it around and we still have strong water.
It's not very strong.
Something's wrong. Hey, where are you going now?
Well, um, the pigs still haven't gone over.
You're gonna go queue up the fire?
Yeah.
Big brush pile today. It rained last night. We're like a year overdue on some of these brush piles. Gotta process this milk, it's been sitting there. I really need to make some yogurt. You and I need to do dishes. It's your dish day. Caught a few flies. I want 2 gallons. It's not quite 2 gallons. Gideon, I need your help, bud. Get this a little later. Never again are we going to cream separator. This is just so much easier. Cream separator too, Mike. Just get a little bit more and it ain't worth the setup and the cleanup. See the cream line? Uh-huh. Okay, it's got to stay intact. You don't want it to mix. Okay, there you go. I like it. Sia on his way with some spent hay. Oh wait, he stopped. The Mini X. What? I think the lowest, most viable one. Yeah, it's gonna be the most safe. We're gonna get the hang of these burn piles before we get closer to the woods. The closest one down to the road, meaning the furthest away from the woods. That's some cream skim milk for yogurt. We got 2 more, 3 more. Rebecca? Cream. Billy, look at all that cream. Okay, a gallon of cream. You want to make some ice cream?
Sure.
Let me see this shirt. Oh, I like it. Are you gonna make brownies too?
And vanilla ice cream. Oh, so chocolate, vanilla, and—
you getting some? We named that cow Vanilla for a reason.
She's got lots of cream.
I'm excited. Just over a gallon a day for us from her. A lot of it's cream. We've got drinking milk, we've got yogurt, and we've got cream. We like to make yogurt from the day's milk because it's already pretty warm, but we got to get it up to 100 degrees. Grass-fed A2-A2 yogurt is our starter. It's really nice and smooth. We're gonna need our big ladle over here.
Where's the ladle?
You can stir it if you want, but we're gonna need a ladle to harvest it. Hey, didn't you find a ladle the other day? Yeah, but you remember doing something with it?
Yeah, but I forgot where I left it.
Oh my goodness, can you go on a hunt?
I think it's where Freddy was— I mean, Stripe was, um, buried.
Who? Stripe. Who's that?
He was my salmon.
Sounds like you might have buried Stripe in a road.
He's buried between the dumpster in the woods. Bye-bye.
You buried a grave for your salamander with a ladle?
Yeah.
Okay, all right, go get the ladle. Just making sure I heard that right. You got to watch this. You don't want it to get over 105 or it won't be raw yogurt anymore. 115, she says.
I like to do 105.
So we're at like 87. Look at that forehead. She's through making one more phone call. The beautiful one, mostly behind the behind the scenes crushing it, making all this happen, particularly with that remodel. Like I said, I'm needing 3 places at once. Is it worth it? We're gonna put it at 105 for 24 hours. That's raw yogurt. You cannot buy raw yogurt, so we don't have no other option. It's the healthiest food you can get. As productive as making yogurt is, I mean, that's the the point? Why are we growing stuff if we're not gonna take the time to enjoy it?
As Shae Elliott would say, what's the point of having all this delicious food if you're not gonna like do your best to enjoy it?
This is where we want to be. We really love the process. You want to burn a brush pile?
Sure.
We've got some hay put in there. The yellow jackets all up in this. Oh, backing this camera up. We're not just burning brush pile to get rid of it or kick some Wiggles? Well, we cleared this forest for pasture, and now this is just taking up pasture land. There's much valuable grazing underneath that. On this nook and cranny farm, we could take any land we can get. Your happy place?
Why do I get so stressed out?
Did you just say, why do I get so stressed out when you get up here? I know it ought to be your happy place.
Being in here looking up at the— what I want to do.
Oh, you always just got vision.
One of my many homeworks that I have. Um, you and I need to start thinking about where we want plugs too. Okay, like what do you want in your office?
What's the minimum of every 12 feet?
No, 8. It has to be 8.
Minimum of 8.
Code.
You want Ethernet ports too, right? We're going wireless, we're going Wi-Fi free.
I would like to go Wi-Fi free. Okay, so we got to think about where do we want— we need a strategic place those. Okay, you know what I mean?
All right, Lily, can you come watch Henry? Yeah, he's got their chalk. You don't need that.
I think it would look amazing if we had 4 skylights in here.
Okay, yeah, this is the sunroom, babe. 2 over there and 2 over here. Is that wide or long? I was thinking you're gonna put one there and then one there and then one here and then one here.
I was actually gonna put them in the peaks, I thought.
Okay, I'm failing to touch Whatever. It sounds like a great plan.
There's no test.
You asked me what I thought.
Okay, how long? That's what I'm asking. How long? Okay, 26, 44, 54.
I don't necessarily know the implications, but can you fit a 54 window in there?
I don't know. I guess I need a ladder.
What's your next one down?
That's 4 feet. 50 54 is 4 feet.
No, 48 inches is 4 feet.
I know, 54.
Oh, it's 4 and a half feet.
These ones need to open.
Did I pass the test? Yes, these need to open because in the, in the summer it's gonna be hot in here. Well, it's a really nice day, it's probably only 70. Well, it's funny, we're burning a burn pile. Checking the pigs' water. Is that the overflow? Yeah.
Oh, I was gonna say.
Is there a shut off on it? Is this fence on? Yes. Can you turn it off? This is why they're not going over. They left it open for them, but not really. That's kind of like a chute. That's too much of a puzzle. You wind that up a couple of links up there, they'll come right over. How are you? Feels good. Big, big, big, big, big. Come on, big, big, big, big, big, big, big pig. Check the water. Mucho. There's 125 gallon pig water. We made 1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. It can handle 10 pigs. We got 3 nipples on there. Our water inlet coming from our gravity-fed water. We've got our water source way up on the mountain. We've got our drains on the other side of the fence so they can't bother it, break it. Horse lessons for Lily. Oh, you probably think I got a snack. Be gentle. Wanna go outside? That's a horse.
Have a good time?
Yeah. You hot?
Yeah.
Your face is as red as a beet. It's as red as that shirt. Good afternoon, Winnie. You was up late last night, weren't you? We didn't have any power and the power company was out in our field. It was just driving her crazy. Look at this clean house. And look who got an hour of work done.
I did, and I actually ended up vacuuming.
What's wrong? No, you can't eat that yet.
He wants to eat it.
He did eat some.
Not eat yet. Well, don't eat it yet. What you making, Birdie?
Cake.
Ah, must be chocolate cake.
Yeah.
What about ice cream? We gotta get that going.
Yeah, will you work on that actually?
About to go shopping for a little dinner. Look at that corn though.
Yeah, it's really turning.
Getting close, huh? First year boys planting corn. You're on a zucchini hunt. See, look, and he came running over. Oh, oh, look at this! Here you go, found another one, babe. Found some more for the pigs. There's another overgrown. Oh, here's one, Rebecca, underneath it. That's good. You gotta watch zucchini, they're beasts.
There are some zucchinis that you can grow big like that and they'll be just fine.
Yellow shirt, what's your favorite color? Yeah, you like yellow.
Who do you love the most?
You laugh. Say Papa. Oh yeah, look at this. You got tomatoes in your feet. You got one right down there that probably needs to be picked. 2 or 3 on the ground. Whoa, you got a big one right here. Oh, zucchinis. Hey, is this the theme? I'll take you with you and you with me and you cry? Hey, let's go check on this fire.
No. Yes.
What is it? He saw the smoke and he— that quieted him down. We got nothing but stumps left. Try not to get too close. Get as far away as you can because once he turns, it's gonna get even hotter. You gotta stoke a fire like this or you won't burn at all. It's just too See, it's too spread out. Lily's cakes are ready. Henry's drinking some milk. How'd your cakes turn out?
Good.
Oh my word, chocolate ice cream. Becky's in the kitchen. Do you mean to have this on your—
Yeah, it's, uh, it's holy basil.
Tulsi. Is that a thing to wear it on your shirt?
Uh, well, smell it. It really gives me good smell. Oh, keep waiting.
I thought it was a woo-woo thing.
Nope, it's a smells delicious thing. You like chocolate ice cream?
I like chocolate ice cream. Look at this broth. Look how gelatinous. That's like Jell-O. I think we eat more fried green tomatoes than red tomatoes.
Took a while for us to even get green tomatoes, so—
Fishy Friday. How's your zucchini casserole? It's the only way we have it now, isn't it?
I'm trying.
I like it, um, just sautéed too.
Cheese, milk, egg yolk. Thanks to Meg. Holler holler. How's your dessert? She doesn't just make one dessert, she made two.
Yeah, put some ice cream.
How's chocolate ice cream go with chocolate cake? Let me get a little more of that. Is it a thing?
Yeah, that's good. This one's gonna be good.
That's Jonah. That was mine.
I think it should be a thing.
