Cutting All Kinds Of Holes (In This Bus)

In this informal vlog, Victor Justin Rhodes (Speaker A) and his crew—Jeff, Bracken, Amy, Arun, and others—document a day of hands‑on work converting a school bus into a livable vehicle. The team drills and aligns multiple holes for a new door, installs insulation, fits a wood‑framed door with a keyless lock, adds a skylight on the roof, fabricates and sands a computer mount, and finishes with a communal cornbread lunch. Throughout the video the participants discuss challenges (misaligned holes, door thickness), share solutions (pilot holes, wood corners, weather‑stripping), and celebrate progress, highlighting teamwork, problem‑solving, and the evolving interior of the bus.

Jeff's here drilling a hole in the side of my bus. Only problem is it's supposed to be right here.
Oh no. Okay, we'll just drill another one. That should be pretty lined up.
You got some guts by now, huh? You put enough holes in this bus.
It's a pretty holy bus.
Pretty feeling confident with it?
Yeah, confidence.
Oh, where's Hammy?
Hammy stayed home today, um, because I planned on working late. Oh yeah, I left him home and I might end up staying here. Okay, you're more than welcome to stay in the bus.
Okay, I wanted to stay in it before you guys did, break it in. I see how you are.
Yeah, I know, right?
Well, why don't you just work all night long?
There you go.
Okay, we have power in the bus now since you eat, breathe, and, uh Live school bus conversion. Yeah, looking good, everyone. Thanks. Glad to have you on the project helping out. Thank you. That's gonna look so good, buddy.
All the way through.
Nice. Just gotta go through the wood. It's cool to see what's inside. The locksmith looked at this door and they said they couldn't do anything about it. They suggested removing that rubber strip and replacing it with metal or wood, and that's beyond them. So we actually got Bracken on this job, and he began it a little bit yesterday by stripping off the rubber seal. What is between these walls?
Insulation.
Hey, are you guys about to ride down this hill? Everybody in? Is everybody getting in? Good morning, Bracken! Hey there, we're gonna put on a legitimate doorknob for you today. Nice!
It's gonna be the best. Uh, well, we're gonna have to build out the, uh, the door frame. About this far and drill a hole in and just get her done. Like 3 inches wide.
So you need to get the dryer down?
Yes, sir.
Okay, you're all cleared now. All clear. Looking super nice, Haroon. Good job.
Thank you.
I like the work apron, buddy. It's handmade from India.
We're gonna glue it and screw it.
What you measuring for?
I am measuring— I'm gonna put, um, like some insulation material in here so that just to insulate the—
yeah, because we're not going to use that window because the dryer is there, right? Okay. What you cutting, Jeff?
I'm cutting the foam board for the window insulation, and then she's going to spray it. Or, um, you have the black material to put on it, right? I think I'm gathering.
I don't know, I'll have to ask her. All right, Jeff, we're gonna spray it down with adhesive spray, and she's got a felt or something some sort of cloth you can put on it.
Take it down, make it a bit thick to go.
Is our door thick enough, Bracken?
Uh, we'll have to make it thicker.
Okay.
What are you doing out there?
Spying.
Now I can't get it out. There you go.
Looks like it's fitting.
Going to be perfect. Nice. We're putting a wood— a nice solid wood corner on here.
Wood corner. And that will create— that'll also make it thicker.
Thicker and a space for the doorknob.
Yep. Nice.
Oh, okay.
Are you guys thinking—
and this goes right along the top?
No.
Yeah, make sure you get all the edge.
Okay, there and here and here, right in that area there.
You go all the way across and then we break it with our hands.
Oh, so I have to go all the way across?
It won't go through. Okay. What are you working on now, Arun? I'm just taking the staple. Good, thank you, buddy. Look at that, looking good. You do not play.
Keyless lock.
Nice, you guys have completed this. Totally shut that off.
Good job.
Here. And I'm so proud of myself because I did this one all by myself.
Nice.
It has fabric on the other side too.
It looks very good.
It has fabric on the other side and there's the foam board in it, so I just shoved it in there and it fit. I was so proud of myself.
Good job.
Jeff has spent a lot of time under your bus. I have spent a lot of time on top.
Here we go, we're cutting all kinds of holes in this bus. How do you line up the two holes?
Well, I cut the one on the inside first, and then I use the corners to drill a pilot hole, and then we just square it off up here.
Nice, good idea.
Yeah, push it up a little bit.
There we go.
Hey, look at it!
Good job. How many holes we got in this bus now, Jeff?
2, 3, 4, 5, 6. At least I have a dozen.
Nice. There's a hole. There's a hole. There's gonna be a hole. There's a hole. It's gonna be a hole down there. There's holes in there.
There's gonna be a hole under the bench for the furnace.
You eating lunch, buddy?
Good.
You're a snacky kind of guy. It's a perfect lunch for you. What are you boys up to today?
We're cleaning up the column.
Well, that's good. You cleaning out from behind the chalkboard here? That's good. I heard there's $100 bills in there. What? Just kidding. Look at these two. Having lunch break. What you gonna do?
Me?
Yeah.
I'm going outside to finish working on covering the windows that we're not really using.
Okay. Good to see y'all sitting down and eating your lunch too. Had to go in town on some errands. Back at it.
Look, we got the door in!
That looks so good, Brecken. Is it all right? Does it work?
You tell me.
What?
It's a real door now.
Good job, buddy. That looks good. Just needs to be— wow, is it the beautiful one approved?
Yeah, that looks great.
Isn't that nice? It's like a real door, man. I'm really happy about that.
Good.
All right, I'm gonna go check the other side.
All right, a few more details. Okay, so it locks automatically.
Now it's locked.
And the code is written down somewhere. I think it's—
I see you put a little lip on it here.
Yeah, that's for weatherstripping.
I gotta get— Oh, you didn't end up screwing in your metal.
Uh, no, that just put a wood jam on it.
Okay, good. I'm creating a mount for our main computer and need to sand it. I've made all the cuts, now I need to sand it. We've got Arun on painting this door. He's got quite the talent for painting. Bracken getting back up on the roof to finish off the skylight. There's the finished good with the skylight. Looks good. It's already so much brighter in here. Here's your computer mount.
Oh, awesome!
All you gotta do is paint it.
Yeah.
I like it a lot. It passed the test. Oh yeah, looks like I, I was successful making the exact same height. You've still got plenty of room for storage underneath it. Yep, I like it. It's a flurry of activity in here. What are you cooking, Amy?
Cornbread.
Cornbread for our leftover chili last night. Some fresh cornbread, thank you very much. Oh my gosh, who did this? Christy, you at it again? Yeah, we're baking cookies and the kids are drinking milk. Okay.
Yeah.
Awesome. Thank you very much. Azariah and Gideon, looks like they've exploded the place. What do you have? Yes, you have a monster truck. All right, Mr. Brown, I'm closing out the vlog. Can you say goodbye to the people? Bye-bye.
