Ear, nose, and throat doctor today. Broke my nose. Well, Flossie, our cow, broke my nose the other day. Hopefully they're gonna set this thing. Also, first night Jonah slept through the night pain-free. You sleep through? Yeah. Pain scale 0 to 10? Like half of a 1. Dang. Good morning, sleepyhead. That's what we wake up to, a parade of cows. Where have they been? Stud muffin. He's eyeing Flossie. I wonder if she's in heat. You guys didn't turn the fence back on after you were done. No shame, I've done that plenty of times. Got the cows out of the garden. Here comes the sheep. I don't blame you for ending up down here. Yep, she's in heat. Look at that, he ain't gonna leave her side. They're wide. Get in and cut them off over there, bringing them over here. I need to get this pasture up for hay, but we're running out of time before it loses its prime. We're just not getting a break in the weather. We don't have hay equipment. Keep them up there, that's the pasture we want. That's good, that's what we want. We got them where we want them. I'm not sure they're too thrilled. Ice cream has gone out of this grass a while ago. This pasture never got hit this spring. See how Flossie's just kind of standing there? It's not her favorite. You know, it's brown up here. That's what's going to happen to that other pasture. They're not even liking it when it's green. How much less are they gonna like it when it's hay? Is Lily not coming? I need Lily to come to mow a strip so we can put a fence down in here. You guys just watch them. Lily, I need you to mow a strip so we can put net up here. I've also had Mark on finding this hay equipment. To find square bale hay equipment is proving very difficult. The kids are naturally upset about this because they've set up all the nets over there and now we're jumping field over here. I thought we were gonna do that anyway. We're just gonna take them getting out as the opportunity. I'll call Mark. He's, he's kind of seeing if he can't source some hay equipment for us to see if he has any serious leads. I mean, do we have the capacity to put up hay this year? Hey, Mark, good morning. What do you think the realistic chances of us finding a square baler and equipment are?
Everyone else told me the same same thing. They said if somebody— if a farmer has a square baler for sale, yeah, more than likely it's wore out, you know. And a new square baler, I mean, you're talking anywhere from— you're talking upwards of $30,000.
Good night. Tell everybody what's happening.
A sheep got stuck in the net and we're going to go get it.
You want to go?
No, ride your bike, kids. We're just going to get the sheep.
Don't choke yourself. What'd you do, little girl? You really twisted our net together. Now we get to pet you. Okay, all right, I got you, I got you. I guess that's why you're scared. Lily, I gotta get some footage of the house remodel, and then I gotta go get my nose straightened. You think you got this? What's the plan? What do you think? Bringing that down, we'll have a big window there and a nice view of this. Look at this. We would have had to bring it up to code because we raised the roof. We would have actually had to raise the chimney if we were going to keep it, so it's probably just as economical to take it down, if not more so. Oh, 135 G's. Oh my gosh, one machine. Another machine, a hammer, that's gonna loosen the rocks from the top. And I guess they're gonna load it in the bucket.
It's claws as big as my foot.
Yeah, it is. Makes this look like a baby. Rebecca, we're leaving in 15 minutes, aren't we? I'm gonna set it for you. Set my nose? Yeah, go ahead. Let's get a hammer. Hopefully they're gonna set it and not say, well, you gotta live with it or have a surgery. Oh, I don't want to get a surgery. Although I'm gonna be scared to get it set. That's gonna be intense. Henry. You see that big tractor?
Yeah.
They were back. The cows pretty much moved themselves down here today.
That's great. It's wonderful.
Uh-oh. Brush hog on the side of the road. Wow, is he really gonna take that tree down? He took it down! Wow.
Wow.
Am I gonna come out of here with a nose brace or what?
I don't know, babe.
Is this gonna involve bleeding? Is it gonna involve a shot in my face for numbing? Scheduling a surgery?
I was thinking, and I hope, I don't want to schedule another surgery.
That's what I've done. Are you gonna love me even if they can't fix it?
I will love you, but it just looks— it looks out of place. You know how like kids, it goes like this?
It's all warped. That's my nose. Oh yeah, you can definitely see the crookedness there. See how it wants to go that way?
So the option would be to basically We try to pop it back in place, called a closed reduction. You don't have to do it, you know, you can live the rest of your days with a crooked nose.
The kind of general way is to set up a day at the outpatient surgery center, get you to sleep briefly, put some instruments in your nose, and pop it back out. People generally able to sit still for that if you did it in the office?
Uh, you know, it hurts. I've done a good number of them. Like in training, um, and you know, some of them were like female vets and they handled it really well. A lot of them were dudes from the prison who did not handle it well.
So where am I on the spectrum? We don't know. Although I have a little bit of anxiety about all this. Why?
Because they were going to pop Jonah's hip back in too.
Oh God.
With a closed reduction.
Is that what they're going to do?
That's what they called yours.
Same word? Closed reduction? What the heck's that? That's because they don't open it.
It's not, so— Oh yeah. We started with a clothes reduction.
They don't have to open us in.
Correct.
2 and a half weeks. Ooh, you think it's gonna bond, grow together?
He said we had 3-ish weeks.
Ugh, we're cutting it close. I know.
Nobody's in a hurry.
I wonder if they'd be in a hurry if it was them. I know, right?
Let's just say I have a lot of disdain for medical professionals and how fast they move because of what they did to Jonas.
If you wait too long. The bone's gonna grow together and then— you have to re-break it.
I'm just so over the medical field. This is where Western medicine shines is in trauma. They shine in the fact that they can actually fix it. They don't shine in the fact that— they can't hurry. Nobody is in a hurry.
They're loading the bucket. We need to figure out where they're gonna put all this. Do you think that's gonna be the process or do you think— I think they're just getting it started.
I have no idea. Next week he has to go have surgery. Showed his face.
Are they really going to cut his nose open?
No, they're going to do a closed reduction.
Well, you know you're going to need a nose replacement. Hey! What?
Where you going?
You're missing the machines. Hey, you're out and about. Are you afraid to put the toe down?
No, it's down.
I wonder if they have to go up the rock first. And then they're going to use the hammer on the brick block. I heard him say if he did the jackhammer it'd all fall onto the deck. Loosen up with the jackhammer and the other guy's grabbing it. They're gonna pull it down. What you gonna tell Jonah? He said it may take out the corner of my deck, but he'll rebuild it if it does. Gonna protect the meter. Got this rock on the side that could line up right there with that meter. He's got it guarded.
It.
All right, this could be really bad if it gets on the power line. One, we would be out of power, which is our power energizers, our well. Whoa, the war zone in our yard.
Gideon, so nice.
Yeah, right there. Got that guy standing, you're gonna be looking out. Or what would Boots say? He'd be having a heart attack right now.
He'd probably be upset that we paid money for this to happen.
He probably paid so much money to get it up. How they turned out different.
This has Parmesan cheese in it. Oh, that one is the deep fried Italian, and then that's just regular. I feel like the deep fried ones are really, really good. They're like restaurant quality.
Grain-free. Mm-hmm. Oh yeah. First time eating nuggets, Henry? First time eating nuggets, Lily? Nope. Well, we no longer have a chimney and we still have a power meter. That's good. That's good, man. Is this a new stretch? Yeah, you couldn't do that before. Don't you fall.
And then you can put them in the other foot.
You're enjoying that.
It feels so good.
All we got left for that fireplace is a big pile of rubble. That's your view. Yeah, I'm gonna have it over here, the sunroom. I can feel the warmth right now, Beck. Are you level now? Come stand stand here. He's level. Get off of the roof. Oh wow, look at this! He's level back. How do you like your view out your window? Good.
Last time my room was over there where the dining room's going to be.
Nice and cool in the evening in here. Beauty's going to have me pull down our lines from our thingamajiggers for our tomatoes. It shouldn't take but 10 minutes. Just climb up.
