In this vlog‑style episode, the family documents a busy day on their farm as they wrap up season‑one filming. The day begins with the arrival of 50 Cornish Cross chicks, a bike repair for Mr. Brown, and pumpkin/squash picking, interspersed with light banter about the best pumpkins for pie or soup. The crew notes the remnants of a former garden and a hybrid acorn‑squash‑pumpkin. Mid‑day, they discover their freezer has failed, leaving a year’s worth of fresh turkeys at 37 °F, prompting an impromptu re‑organization of freezer space and a discussion of using excess meat for broth. After resolving the freezer crisis, the family heads to a nearby river for a cold‑water swim, describing the high water level, the beach crossing, and the excitement of the kids. The episode ends with everyone confirming they had a good time, marking the climax of their summer and the wrap‑up of the season’s filming.

Post office just called. We're getting 50 Cornish Cross chicks today. Fixing Mr. Brown's bike. The film crew's here one last time. Season— or episode 10, season 1. That's gonna be a wrap today, and we're going to the river. The kids' dream. Hopefully kind of a hurrah to coincide with the final show. Like, we beat this, we're getting through this. This is a classic Dad helping. Yeah, that'd be cool. Boy with his bike. A little more getting ready when you got these kind of cameras. Hold that, hold one right here. I'll hold it for you. Yep, you hold it steady there. Put that— once you get in there, now other way, turn it the other way. Time to pick pumpkins. We got watermelon coming along, spaghetti squash. Hey, Carol girl, Yeah, I like that outfit. Look at this pumpkin score.
I know, we're— let's not pick the big pumpkins yet. Lily, please get out of the—
yeah, you might step on any vines. Um, what are we gonna do, pick the little pumpkins?
The little ones.
So come around the little cooking pumpkins.
I only want the ones that are orange. If they have green on them, don't pick.
Yeah, that's a good score of pumpkins, just about right. That's a realistic amount. I mean, how much pumpkin pie are we gonna eat?
A lot.
Well, we could eat pumpkin soup.
I would eat pumpkin pie.
She would eat pumpkin pie. Oh my shoot, I wish I would have gotten a before shot. Holy smokes, you couldn't see through this. It was as tall as that one right there.
That's like 6 foot and it was like all bushy.
This was a jungle. The sheep have crushed this. The cows first. And then the sheep. Boy, I bet they're fat and happy. Deep-rooted stuff too. Look, that's just obnoxious weeds and they've just crushed it.
They have like— they have made this patch forever better.
Do you see that? Do you see what I see? Pumpkins or squash. Guys, go get those pumpkins or squash. Let's see what they are. This used to be where our garden was. This used to be where, uh, the pig port was. So there's seed remnant there, man. Oh, it's just a—
oh, it looks kind of like an acorn squash.
Yeah, it's some sort of weird hybrid. It is an acorn squash and a pumpkin got together. Look at Polly, curious.
You have to smash it.
Well, let's smash it in the chickens maybe, or the pigs. Happiest baby. Hey guys, let's unload our pumpkins. Let's get our pumpkins out of Willie. Anybody? Anybody? There they are. I came out here this morning and our freezer is not working. 37 degrees. That's all our brand new turkeys.
Um, I was looking down like at the beef and the other freezers. Okay, but I'm still looking for my soup.
All right, we've got to find— we've got to do a shuffle because you can't lose a whole year's worth of turkey. Where we're gonna put these What is all that? Some of this is excess.
I'm wondering if this is just bones.
Yeah, I wonder if some of that can be cleared out. Are you gonna make a broth? Is that what you're gonna do? Is there room for some turkeys? We have some room here. If we put some of this on the shelf, we can fit room in here. What are we gonna do with all that?
Um, I actually was thinking, you know what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna put it in that freezer and defrost it. I'm gonna see what the heck it is.
Oh, all right. And then, then you have some room in here. I'd say that might be enough. We are on our way to the river, the climax of our summer here. We're making it. I'm in the car. I'll be able to walk down to the river. We are there. I've never been here. We've had some crazy rains though. It looks like the waters have been all the way up to here. Oh my gosh, how am I gonna get down there? We're down at the river. I walked across that gnarly beach at Rocky Beach. We're about to swim across. I think I can do it. I mean, if I can walk across a gnarly beach, I think I can swim. Sierra G works better with a camera. He's got the drone in the air, two cameras over there, and then this one. Lily really wants me to swim with her, so she's going with us. Gideon, are you gonna go across with us? Okay. Jonah, Josiah, come swim across with us. It's so cold. I haven't cold plunged in a while. It reminds me a lot of that. What do you think it is in there? 60? It's probably 60. Cold plunges, we do a 55. It might not even be 60 because you can't stand in it and eventually you get used to it. You never get used to 55.
Very cold.
Okay, but it is very, very cold. It's not our creek at home, which is like 75 right now. We just wrapped it up at the river. Oh, how'd everybody— how'd everybody do? Everybody have a good time? Yeah, we did it! Good!
