Fruit tree attack! Family rallies to STOP it ASAP

In this vlog‑style family farm video, the narrator (Speaker A) and family members rally to finish a flurry of chores before a weekend camping trip. The segment opens with a dead chicken being turned into maggot feed for growing chicks, explaining the maggot life cycle and the nutritional benefit. The family then discusses “Mineral Monday,” moving mineral buckets onto a dedicated trailer (Bob) for permanent storage, labeling them, and dealing with a flat wheel and hitch issues. They troubleshoot a low‑fuel vehicle and a flat tire, replace lug nuts, and consider theft prevention. A major focus is protecting young maple and locust trees: they build board fences using sawmill lumber, secure the structures with screws and clamps, and discuss the importance of shielding the trees from animals. Throughout, tasks are delegated to the children (Josie, Josiah, Henry) and Mark, with humorous banter. The family also prepares for camping: packing gear, making homemade marshmallows, cooking dinner, and sharing meals, while commenting on weather and a baby shower. The tone remains casual, instructional, and collaborative, highlighting practical farm management, equipment repair, tree protection, and family teamwork before their trip.

Oh my word, it's gonna be a super fun week. We're going camping. We gotta get the farm prepped. We gotta pack for camping, but first we gotta do chores. If you guys don't stay in, this happens. Actually, this chicken's so purple. I don't think he got got by a predator. I think he had a heart attack. Hey, little chick, this is gonna happen to you. Turn that dead chicken into free chicken food. Flies come in, they go through these little holes, they lay their larvae on that chicken as a host, they develop into maggots, come out of these holes— free protein for the growing chicks. Do some weeding and some feeding of the chickens at the same time. 130. Still just a slow simmer. That's good. 140 or above means it needs more oxygen, needs to be turned. We'll probably need to turn it regardless tomorrow before we leave. Look who's doing Mineral Monday on Sunday! We had the idea that we could put minerals on a trailer, and we just used the trailer that we have for now. Didn't have to transfer it over the side-by-side, then come out and do it, and then transfer it back. We could just store it in a dedicated trailer. This is Bob the trailer. Bob's not as, as wide as maybe we'd like it to be because you have to stack buckets. What's wrong with the hitch? It wants to come off. Oh, you have a rebar post in there. I figured that'd be more Jerry.
And one of the wheels is flat, and then I could just weld a bar on the back and then everything would be fine.
You think this is the alfalfa? Last year we installed these handy dandy labels, and this year we're figuring out to store all the minerals in a trailer permanently. Every year we just get a little bit more more smoothified. What's wrong? Hey, don't— keep holding it, just keep holding it. Okay, let's pull it down to the flat with the— I figure if we get it to flat ground, it might have an easier time starting. He's put fuel in it, but I guess it really got low. This is a major problem and it really could put a kink in our packing plans. This has to be fixed. These are our forest trees. That's a maple. That's probably a locust. We got maple and locust planted down here. Future shade. That's your future shade, y'all. I have tightened this up. Probably 2, 2 webs. And I think cattle panels are pretty expensive and have to be bought in our town, and we got something like 50— oh my gosh, 50 trees. We have about 5 before we go. And one thing we do have on farm, Josie, remember we have all those sawmill 1x6s. In the meantime, let's eliminate some of the temptation here. Josiah, stay here. You'll be a shepherd boy today. Make sure nobody gets that. They're looking for something. We got to get the brakes fixed on the Suburban. What are we looking for, Mark? Key lock. But we've already looked under there, in there. They're afraid somebody's gonna steal our wheels. Is there another way around? Drive this socket on there, uh-huh, and take it off, and then you just have to buy— get 4 lugs. Mark was able to get that one off each wheel. We'll have to get 4 replacement lugs. It's like, if Mark can get it off though, wouldn't a thief be able to get it off? The sun loves this for you. Gonna see if her folks can pick up some things while they're in town for this little fence project.
I mean, yeah, we'll see if it's If they don't text in 30 minutes, I'm gonna call them.
The Abundance Plus booth is in there now. You got this now? I gotta go do the cows. Look, she packed her first things.
Paper plate, paperware.
Well, thank you. I thought I was gonna have to load this trailer, but that's gonna be helpful where you can do it. Despite the stress, trying to have fun packing because that's a lot of it. Now working on the winch. Out? Yeah, the boy snapped our cable. That's pretty hard to snap a big cable like that. And we have one leaf. That's better than none. I'm pretty sure these things will die if they get all their leaves. Until we get those 1x6s over here, let's just eliminate some of the temptation. Hey, he's rubbing on it, but he definitely has less interest going inside of it. Say we get a board right here. For the sheet and maybe one up here. Looks like you got it fixed, Mark. It's a camping explosion. What do we lack? Everything. Here's you some, um, lemonade. Okay, how is it, Henry? I'll do any combination. You like that lemonade? Is that a big storm coming?
Well, it's like scattered thunderstorm.
Hopefully it doesn't rain upon us. How'd your marshmallows turn out?
I think they turned out pretty good. I have to make a bag for A parchment paper bag. Oh no, it's right here.
Taste one of these weird ones on the end.
Oh good.
Homemade marshmallows. What do we got? Did they get the right— did we order the right thing? Oh shoot, it's too heavy duty.
We're gonna need a grinder and my special battery for that.
I think we can snip it with our tin snips. We have 2x6s or 1x8s, it looks like. These are buried under 2x4s, so maybe that's why we just get these. The farm has to come first and we got to prep it before we go. This will definitely support the, the, the, the case. So let's try it. 2 48s, 2 45s. That's the way the 45s should sit inside the 48s. Put on the glasses, right? We're gonna try one sample to see if it works before we go cutting a bunch of boards. He's gonna need 40 boards. He's 1 5/8. Too short. And that might work if we were going to do the 1x6s, but we decided to do 2x4s. Of course. We need, uh, I don't know, 2 inches, 3 inches. Got him a marshmallow.
I don't even know if he knows.
Say goodbye to Mom. Hey, just tightening it up might have saved it. They haven't gotten to it. There, put a clamp on it too. That board's too wide. I was afraid of that. The board's too long. These aren't quite— we don't even have to screw them in. We just have to do another one right here. That's true. Because this one's on a hill, we'll have to— I don't know, maybe lift that and screw it that way. But with this one, we can reinforce it by screwing it to each other. Don't know if we need— absolutely have to screw it though, because look, they're not going to be able to push it because the T-post is blocking it. Oh man, I'm excited when things turn out like this. I am very happy about that. See, we were able to intertwine in between the woven wires. Now we don't have to use U-nails and nail it. Screwed it in for extra security. They're not getting—
look at that, look at that!
They ain't getting in there now. We just single-handedly saved our maple tree. 4 more to go. 2 trees protected, 3 more to go. Look who's here. Blue. Talking airsoft. There it is. What kind of tree is that? Open it up. I can get in it. Yes, it was too loose. That's enough probably to let me in there. I guess you can open it. Just go on and open it. Just go on and get it out. It is gonna feel really good to protect that tree. That's a young tree. It's doing well. We got it tight. Y'all board it up. Left gap for string trimming. Make sure y'all are consistent with the short sides on one side.
I'll not kill that stupid snake.
And look at this locust. It would be a shame to lose that, and they, they would love to eat that. I'm gonna leave the boys to put boards around those trees. I've got to start dinner. I've cleared it. You can get in this smooth. You want to put you in jail? Going to jail? You've been good. No jail for you. How do you think those turned out, babe?
They look really good. Very excited.
2 for camping, 2 for tonight. Yep. How was the baby shower? It's so good. This meal though, you like it? How's the chicken? Because we're gonna have it again.
That's delicious.
Good.
