After clearing two acres, the creator builds a gravity-fed water system from an uphill valley. A homemade weir feeds a storage tank through a 35-gallon pre-filter, then 1-inch pipe runs downhill with valves every 100 feet for watering livestock. Unused water loops back to the creek.

Just cleared 2 acres. Ta-da! Now the problem is we need water and there ain't no water here. There's no water. This is raw homestead land. When you see a valley like this and it's going uphill, see how dark that is? Chances are you're gonna have water. Showed up! Beautiful tree. So we installed this gigantic tank, and for feeding the water tank, we have this homemade weir. Post cut to let water through. There's mesh underneath. Crud like this doesn't get through. It's just a little 35-gallon barrel with an exit hole and the line feeding the tank. We used 1-inch potable poly pipe to run the water down the mountain, and every 100 feet we've installed these handy thingamajigs. Connect a hose, let water come out, shut it off there for more power, and finally whatever we didn't use on the animals comes back down to the creek where it was going anyway. Just look at that abundance.
