Looks like my wire install worked yesterday. I think people would have gotten out there, but they didn't because of the wire. A few are still getting out. One thing I'm thinking is maybe I didn't clip all their wings and they're flying up over the poultry guard, the poultry wire. How am I gonna do this? Have you ever tried to catch a little chick? Okay, so this one's clipped, but a lot of it's grown back, I guess because they're growing. That's it. That went smooth. None of them were without clips, but because I think they're growing, they are still growing wings. We'll try that and see what happens. It's my goal to make this 100% chicken-proof. Setting you guys up right here. One of the nest box fell and somebody jumped out.
Hey, Teddy. Hey, Teddy.
All right, maybe they'll. Maybe she'll follow this.
Chick. Chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick, chick. Check, check, check, check, check.
Come on. We got her in. Somebody else jumped up, too. Thought I fixed that. Hang on for a second, guys, and I'll show you what happened. You know, we just got to put it on the list of things to do, and we got to figure out, is it more important than fortifying the kitchen posse, Lily's posse? Is it more important than getting the water out to the pigs? I don't think so. That's got to be our first priority. So these are falling down in there like that. So my idea, it's empty here so that manure and dirt can fall through. I think we can put a wire inch mesh on the bottom and then poop will still fall through, and then it'll only fall that far if it falls out. Think that'll work, but I'm telling you guys, you never know until you, until you field test. This is super nice water right here.
Calf's in sheep Chicken.
Quick connect. I just snap this back on. My trough is full so it doesn't run on that automatic feed waterer. On today's episode of Burn It Up, Burn It Up cooking show, fried potatoes from the land. Onions, Parmesan. We've just got the potatoes in, they've been cooking a little bit. I think I need to add a little more bacon grease. But you know what I realized? My mic went out pretty much after I moved the jig. I missed so much, I missed so much. I'll clue you in, we'll play B-rolls. But as far as the meal is concerned, cut up fresh potatoes from the land, put some bacon and grease in there, started with some cut-up onions, fried the onions first, got them a little brown, and then I added the potatoes. Let's stir this. It's getting a little sticky on the bottom, so I need to— I slowed it down and added more grease, but it looks like I might need to do even more grease. What makes everything better? Bacon. So we thought we'd get a slicer. I don't think it's necessary. I kind of like cutting it as we go. All right, so let me summarize the day there. We went to, uh, after the chickens, we got our water supplies together to continue to work on our water supply line because the pigs are gonna need water. We got all that ready, we went out to go, and then we helped Jonah do some of the small animal chores. And then he informed me that the pigs got out again and that he did get them water. He rigged up a temporary— one of our temporary garden hose. It actually takes probably 2 or 3, but he got water to them, got them back in. But We can't keep doing this. So we decided we can't work on the water line. Jonah got them some water. We've got to take our time here to get them some different netting. Like, if we keep doing the same thing and expect different results, it's not gonna work. We tightened up that sheep netting, we got it hot, and they're getting out. So let's try a pig netting that's got more narrow, smaller mesh. And let's see if that works. So we set that up around and then pulled up this, the old sheep net. They're 100 pounds now. So the sheep net was to protect them from coyotes. So we got this pig net. It'll be hotter. Sure enough, it was hotter, tighter mesh because it's made for piglets. So we're gonna hope that that's going to work. Back to the potatoes and bacon. They're doing good. I probably turned it too much. I probably need to let it sit so the potatoes fry. Notice that I peeled them. Yeah, the peels are a little harder to digest. Well, after the pigs, then we— Beauty started working on the garden and pulling out some of the old stuff like old cucumbers and throwing— oh, the lettuce bolted, so she's throwing it to the chickens, making way for new lettuce. And then I can't believe I bought— I'm so upset that I bought the mic. Mike. All right, so then our friend, uh, Arun is cooking a special Indian dinner tonight from our farm. Is it hot yet? All right, I think it's done. Just, uh, golden. I don't want to cook them too much to be too soft. What do you think? Yeah, it's good, man.
That's looking so good.
Finishing touch here, a little bit of salt. Probably should have done that a little bit earlier. Oh well. Then this is the trick— mucho Parmesan. There's the finished bit. You gotta save a good bit for Mom, but then y'all go ahead. Does it test? The beautiful one says first bite. That's all from our farm, minus Parmesan. So good. I just can't talk. That afternoon I actually went to have my teeth checked out. I had had surgery Teddy, why is he barking? I had surgery a number of weeks ago. They just wanted to check up on it. About to get some implants. It's looking good. It looks like we can do that in about 4 weeks. Came home and Arun is wrapping up the Indian dinner. Finished. Some chicken from the land, Swiss chard. Yeah, give us the tour, Arun.
Yes, so this is chicken. I grill the chicken. So this chicken from your land, and onion is here from your land, garlic from your land, tomatoes from your land.
And what makes it orange?
Uh, turmeric.
Turmeric, not from the land.
Yeah, and this is everything from your land.
Garlic.
Onion and this Swiss chard.
Sweet.
And this is dal, this is lentil, and garlic, onion, and tomatoes from your land in here. And this is just rice. And this is yogurt and cucumber, and both is from your land.
What? In the rider? Yeah. Okay.
And this is all from your land.
That's the chicken you made me earlier.
Yeah, it's just yogurt and— it's all the yogurt, salt, and chicken.
Nice. Yeah.
