Henry's 3rd Birthday SPECIAL

Henry turns three with his big family gathered around. His dad built him a playhouse from scraps, and there's a running joke about how Henry was born at a gas station. Lots of gifts, cake, and the kind of chaos that happens when grandparents, siblings, and cousins all show up to celebrate.

Are you helping? Spinning it out. Nobody's taught him how to do this. He's just seen it. Louie made you some wonderful decorations. You're gonna want to see this. Grandma has gotten him Power Wheel. Yes, he's gonna go crazy for that. He's gonna love it. I like Mama's t-shirt she bought you. Do you like it?
Yeah, Mama bought it.
She did. It says 3. Look at this! What a playhouse! And y'all just built this in a couple of days. Wow, wow. Framed out a window. Hey, where'd you learn how to do all this?
I looked at this house for this.
I like it. For how that is, I looked at this Yeah, I like it. I like how you can teach yourself anything. Our schooling is working. Our thought is they aren't stifled, they can be creative, they learn how to work hard, and finally, if they can teach themselves, they can teach themselves anything and do anything with those 3 skills: creativity, hard work, and the ability to teach yourself. What is it about?
Photos of our cabinetry. I haven't seen them yet, so he just sent me 2 photos. Look how beautiful they are. I could cry. It's just like amazing. Wow, these men are very skilled people. These men are so skilled. It's so fabulous.
I heard you're turning 76. Yeah.
Yeah?
Okay.
Well, I made sure that there were 1, 2, 3 buttercups in there for a special someone turning 3 today.
Can I get a birthday high five? Yeah, big high five, birthday high five.
You want to give a birthday hug?
We don't have to go that far. Definitely be friends if you want.
Oh no.
Happy birthday, Henry!
We're coming. Going up to Grandma's. Hello! Oh, it's got a bow on it. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa. You want to get in it?
Hold on, I think we got to turn it on. Turn on.
Oh, it's a bolt. Not working. Don't hurt children. Oh, here we go. Watch out, big Oh, he's having a good time. Oh! Oh! It's a little inconsistent, but I think it needs to be charged. Now we're gonna get Jonah's gift to him. Got Jonah's gift to you. Come here. Come here.
New house?
A little.
A little. He wants down. A little house. Jonah built it. Oh, you made a flower planter.
Wow, that's not a bench.
A bench. It's legit.
Yeah, it's very nice.
A latch on it.
It locks from the inside.
You didn't even have to buy a thing. No, just all scraps. Yeah. Oh, he wants his car off the battery. Sorry, you got beat out by Grandma. Found some eggs for your kitchen. Okay, there's kitchen. I can even sit in here.
I can't.
Hey, this is my new writing cabinet.
Don't you love your birthday, Henry?
You did a good job with that. Proud of you. Oh, I put it in this bag so I can wrap it.
Here, Henry, here's your old car that I found. And then here is this one, Henry. Remember I gave that to you?
What do you think it is, hen?
Oh!
What? Their reactions at this age too are the best.
This is great!
This is great! It's a magnet tile set for track loaders. He loves magnet tiles. What'd you make us, Mom?
We have pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, and broccoli. Sweet tea.
Ice cream cake.
Just your favorite meal. Ooh, you outdid yourself.
He loves this.
Everybody's eating it and enjoying it. They're glad you were born. He's had a wild and busy day, hasn't he?
Although he wasn't even born in the shrine.
We were born late at night at the gas station. Becky, you're giving birth.
You are? You're giving birth?
He's out, Rebecca. He's out.
My body Literally, I had no control. It just— it pushed him.
He's okay. He's okay, baby.
He's crying.
Okay, we gave birth in the gas station.
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you.
Don't blow yet.
Happy birthday to you.
Smile for mom. Here you go. Let's turn it.
Good boy.
He's a ham. Good boy. Look at this cake. I want that cake for my birthday.
I want them, Mama. I want them.
That's you. Wow, look how big. That's a special chocolate right there. I thought it was gonna be hard. How'd you get this chocolate to be tender?
I wanna open. I'm gonna put this back in the box. My teeth are still making noise.
What are we gonna do with all those leftovers? It's huge.
We're gonna eat it.
Quiet and serious. He really is.
He's about to eat a whole cake.
We're gonna say nice things about you, okay? This is the birthday blessing.
Are you gonna listen?
Gideon's gonna say start it.
Henry's a good little brother and he likes to play at his house.
You ought to build him.
Henry is a very good little brother and I like it when he tells me that he loves me and I like to play with him and he— I like his little voice.
Here we have it taped. You can hear your little voice when you grow up. A big voice is like Josiah and Jonah.
That's stuff about you.
Here we go, Jonah. Josiah. A good brother. It's fun to watch him.
He's fun to be around, and he's a good little brother. Who's that?
Who's this?
Who's that?
Who's that? Um, who's that? Um, Jonah. Jonah. Jonah. Henry's a fun little brother. I like to see him grow up, and it's been a fun 3 years. I love you. I love it when you want to hug, and I love it when you tell me that you want me. Oh, I love you. I love it when you tell me that you want me, and he'll tell me to stay home. I want you to stay here, and we cuddle at night. Yeah, do we cuddle at night? Yeah, do you like that? In the morning, in every morning we cuddle, and we cuddle every night when he's going to bed. And I'm very thankful for you. It's a little crazy that you came out in the gas station, but I'm glad that you came out. And the other thing that I love about him is that he'll say too many. Too many means lots. And so it's so cute because he'll be like, too many whatever, but he's not saying— but he's not saying it's like too many, he's just saying like there's So many. There's like a lot. Too many. No. No. Like he was saying that on his shirt today. He's like, too many.
Too many bells.
Too many. Did you see all these?
Somebody once told us, Henry, that every family needs a baby. Well, we got our baby. It's amazing how you just come along and fit along and get along with us.
Oh, and that's another thing he'll do. He'll like point, because like, you know, when we're teaching babies, when you teach a young child like eyes and nose and mouth, like we point to them on their face so he'll do it for me. And he wants me to say it, so he'll point and say eye. I have to say all the things.
I'm gonna say this, Henry. You are a mama's boy.
I wanna get out, Mommy.
And that's a good thing. Okay, we'll go out in just a minute. And you didn't want to come out with me necessarily like the other ones did so early. But you know what? Your mom and I are getting older and you're our youngest. So I bet we're gonna have somebody that would take good care of us. Yeah. In our older age.
Oh, one thing that you do, because he's gonna be watching this when he's older. Yes, yes. Is that one thing that is so funny is when we're changing his diaper.
Uh-huh. What is he doing?
I don't know. He wants you to leave it a certain way, I think.
Does that matter? Okay, I can barely see, but okay. Leave it, leave it so that Mom can tell her story.
He'll, he'll lay on the bed or the floor, whatever, and he'll kick his legs and he just kicks.
Oh, that's right, because he doesn't want to be changed or whatever.
Yeah, for 5 minutes he'll just kick.
He'll just kick those, even when he has poop.
And then what else is— what else is like— oh, and he loves to wear a hat right now.
Yeah, he said that he wants to be like Papa wearing his baseball cap.
It's so cute.
Happy birthday, everybody loves little Henry.
Oh, and we have presents.
One more present, one last gift. Might be your favorite so far. This one's from Mama.
Oh, this is just a starter tool set. Yeah, so it's tools.
This is wheat-free. This is gluten-free Play-Doh. In case he eats it.
Well, I was thinking more like him touching it and then touching my food or touching me and getting green.
You don't wash your hands.
That's red.
Don't play it while we go on our walk. Green.
Happy day, Henry! Happy day!
You can like cut it and you can stomp it.
Might have made a mistake.
Why?
Plate is a mess.
You're the one who wanted it. I didn't. You're the one who said When I said, what are we getting him for his birthday? You said Play-Doh.
You bought it. All right, y'all are all going crazy for it.
We haven't played with Play-Doh since I was 5.
There he goes, he's going at it. We may or may not have made a mistake getting him Play-Doh. Happy day.
