He's Got a Knack for This

After two and a half years of training, the narrator hits a 72 lb lift in Simple & Sinister. The family grades their driveway, spreads four dump-truck loads of gravel, and builds a 40 by 60 foot shed for tool storage, with talk of organization, labeling, and safety throughout.

About to go for a personal record, 72 pounds, and that's the height of this Simple and Sinister training. It's only taken me 2 and a half years to get here though. I did it.
I didn't think I would ever get there.
Hey, y'all ready to do the project? Corn chips, meat stick, where's your snack? I got one. Hey, it's gonna be hard to grow those corn chips this summer, bro.
That's why I'm eating them.
Give them some time to let it sink into their hearts. This summer we're quitting all that, save maybe a few cheats. Not a lot of cheats. Hey, if you only had one cheat, would it be corn chips?
I'd have cinnamon buns.
Cinnamon buns?
Okay, cinnamon buns.
Okay. Oh, it'd be between tea. Can we grow black tea in North Carolina? Then it wouldn't be a cheat. I'm gonna have to go with dark chocolate. Happy day, y'all! Welcome to another vlog where this family is on a health journey so we can be there together forever for each other. 4 dump truckloads of gravel. This is going down before we put in a huge shed, 40 by 60, to store all our tools and equipment.
Why don't we rent a machine that makes gravel like this and get the rocks off the ground and make gravel?
Put it on the list, my man. We're not draining good right here. See, it's foggy here too. See, it's got to go out like this. Look, you got to take out this hump right here and let it get to this ditch.
What happens when you put gravel in mud?
Sinks. Oh, I know. We got the shed builder supposed to come out today to look at this. They're gonna have to get in here with their big machine.
This shot would be perfect if we had a bulldozer, right?
You got a jet pack? You can't leave them for one minute. Just kidding, that's enough backwards. Shop organization continues. High-vis. Wonder what Annie means by that. Scrap metal. Everything is labeled. Chargers, chargers, markers, jigsaw. Everything has a place and everything in its place. I'm gonna stop saying I'm disorganized. I'm gonna start saying every day in every way I'm getting better. You guys want to see what Randolph's doing? Randolph! Hey, hey! Framing inspection tomorrow. Are we ready? Yeah, I think so.
Okay.
How long was I unattending to him? 2 minutes? He's lighting fires. Austin, replay the part about this. Come on, come on, come back out here. Why are you always grabbing stuff? Come on. Some of the frustrations you guys don't always see. Come on, let's stay focused. Do you know the focus? Do you know the vision? Find the measuring— the long— wait, wait, where was it? Was this exactly? That's where it was. Okay, hopefully that's gonna have a better spot. The vision is measuring tape or measuring wheel, whichever one you can find first. Go! Oh shoot, he's gonna beat me. You found it! I think I just need to be more clear about the vision with him. I think you're on to something. But I still think it's not down, down and out. You're done it right here. Look, I think we're good here. There's a rock there. You're not gonna be able to go any deeper anyway. Maybe from here on, a little more gradual slope out of here. That— you got a knack for this. Stop, stop! Don't go any higher! Oh crud, they're in the top of that tree. Literally all I did was go inside to get a radio. Up here looking at our project for Grandma. We're gonna put in a driveway to a parking spot up here.
You have too many rocks, it's gonna drain in.
Yeah, you probably need a little bit of dirt there. Well, we got Bro Rakes to do some fine, fine grading, but we still need to do some rough grading. You want to do that right now while I go cook? Sure. Want a little turnaround right here too, Jonah, so we need to build that up. Turn around and back up the driveway. Okay, Gideon, measure from here all the way up to the end of that rock wall there.
The rock wall.
Keep going. No, keep going this way, honey. Stay straight. Keep going. Okay, how much does it say? We'll say 70, so we have enough for that turnaround too. You've graded that wonderfully. Yeah, you've repaired that back. We're gonna get some seed. We'll get the, the what we tore up the stump out.
We should turn that stump into a chair still.
Okay, well, you go for it. For lunch, I shredded this chicken as small as I could. Becky, I've had that car started for 20 minutes for you.
Well, it's cold out, it's not gonna hurt anything.
Go get us some grass seeds. Rebecca's got to get us some grass seed for Grandma's project and medicine. That's bananas. Shed Man's here. Y'all in the tree again? You trying to give me a heart attack? We decided with the freezing at night and then thawing out in the day, it's never gonna dry out in the winter. We're just gonna gravel it and go. Try it. Look at this. Much better. Still a little soft, but I'm not sinking. They're coming back tomorrow. It only took them a day and a half to put up a 40 by 60 shed. Uh-uh, turn it off. Remember, he gets grumpy if we turn it off right before dinner. Stop, stop fighting. Mom, you killed me some egg drop soup right there, girl. How'd you get it stringy like that?
The soup was very hot. And I whisked an egg and then I stirred it and poured it in. That's an egg drop soup right there.
Give him a massage, Becky. Say goodbye to sore muscles! Goodbye muscles! Here, I'll give Jonah a neck massage. Just relax.
I'll do it to Mama.
Stop! How'd the tile go today, Becky?
I think it's officially done, which I'm very excited about. My brain hurts.
Good.
From thinking and trying to decide. Now I have to do paint colors.
Cross your fingers. Inspections coming tomorrow.
Oh, I do have another tile situation.
For Insulation Monday and a shed. Big day tomorrow.
Oh, I'm excited about the shed.
