We lost more than bridges, pasture, high tunnel, roads during Hurricane Helene. We lost security. One of the big reasons we love and appreciate living in the mountains. We're supposed to be immune from that, safe from that. I don't think we'll ever be the same again with the threat of the hurricane. Before, we felt fortified and thankful and secure, and now we'll feel vulnerable, which of course will humble us. So of course there's a blessing and a curse in that.
If I had to start my Homestead all over again, it could only pick one animal…
