I Dreaded Taking the Fence Out, then I Got This

The video captures a Thanksgiving‑morning vlog on a family farm. It opens with a quick gratitude round where the parents and children share what they’re thankful for. The family then tackles several farm tasks: they discuss and execute the removal of a perimeter fence using wire cutters, pliers, and a hammer, planning a temporary lane for livestock. While working, they encounter a tractor that stalls on a road; they diagnose fuel‑filter and vapor‑lock issues, call a mechanic, and get the tractor running again. Throughout the day they manage various animals—geese, chickens, cows, and calves—herding them across temporary fences and moving them to new pastures. Simultaneously, they prepare a Thanksgiving feast: brining and roasting a turkey, making gluten‑free biscuits, French fried onions, and other side dishes, while setting the table. The vlog interweaves practical farm problem‑solving with family interaction, humor, and a sense of gratitude, culminating in the family gathering around the cooked turkey.

Hey, happy Thanksgiving everybody! Thanksgiving! What are y'all thankful for this morning, 7 AM? Huh?
House.
A warm house.
You and Mama.
Oh, thanks. What are you thankful for, Mr. Brown?
Thankful for you.
All right, all right, little buddy. Are you going barefoot or you gonna find your shoes? Okay. What are you thankful for, buddy?
Your mama.
Hey, you guys look handsome in your new shirts. Thank you. Hey, should I roll your pants up?
Teddy's coming with us.
Oh, Teddy! Oh, your paws are wet. Oh no. Oh wow, holy smokes, Gideon, have you not checked this in a while? Muchos huevos.
Yesterday I forgot.
Really? You forgot yesterday? But the day before, we must have some. Our chicks must be in lay. Look who it is! Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for, Arun? Say again, what are you thankful for? I'm still alive. Ah, good one.
Ah, it's wooden egg!
Look at you, my man. All right, put it on the counter. We'll go get them some hay. We're back this time to put hay down. How do you three geese like each other? Normally you don't want to put guard geese together because they won't pay attention to the chickens, but in here there's no real predator threat. They're protected from aerial predators. And they're protected even from butterflies. Butterfly. This thing is predator-proof. You caught you one. That's one of the new fat hens. What are you trying to do?
Trying to catch it.
Let's move this forward, Elaine. Watch out, watch out! A little warmer coming into the next week, which is going to be really cold. We don't want to put it all— I mean, we could put this down too if it's going to consistently be cold. Otherwise they're going to get too hot in here. Even with this full-on ventilation on the side, it's still much warmer in there during the day. It's probably why they're starting to kick back in the eggs. They're just getting comfortable. The cows are right there. They've only got 2 more days before we move them across the street. And before, we've been constricted to these gates. You got them? Get them right here to this gate.
Yes, that way, that way, that way. Um, a fire station.
Ah, okay.
'Cause I saw a fire helicopter go.
Ah, but what if— what if we took out this perimeter fence? What if we took out that perimeter fence? We only need— this has been working. We've tested this before. We dare take out this perimeter fence. We've tested these nets and it's working beautifully. We have a mobile milking station. We don't really need to go back to the barn. If we can, we could herd them back, put up a temporary lane back. And if this weren't here, forget the gate. We, we, we get them in the paddock right here and then we cross into this yard pasture. So I got me these handy dandy Wise Grip fence pliers. I'm hoping that's going to be an easy way to get out. I kind of need a hammer maybe to drop— wow. To get out U-nails. Oh wow, that's not bad, that's not bad. I might could use a hammer to drive that in. Now, now I think that away. I don't know if this is a wire cutter. Uh, let's see if it is, but that would be handy right here. Oh my, it's a wire cutter! Oh my, oh my! I think that we could get this off in no time. And that— get in. Let's see how much we can get of this fence up so that maybe we can actually move our animals not through the gate but our fence. They don't need to move here tomorrow, not today, not tomorrow, but the next day. Are you gonna help me? All right.
I got this out with a hammer.
Nice. Okay, this is going incredibly well. I've done 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. That's as far as I think I need to go today. Let me show you how easy this is. Okay, so if you can't get in there to pinch it like that, and then putting this spike in there, and then been driving. Yes, you can, you can, you can. Once that gets in there, then you can pull on that, get it out there enough, and grab it with your— and then just leverage it up. You're gonna pull that out with the hammer?
Yeah.
Shoot, did you get it?
Yeah.
Okay, well, you gotta find it. Okay, thankfully it's right there, because if cows are going to graze here in the future, you can't leave metal in here. I'll have to demo on that since it's kind of easy and get it and got it with a hammer. Uh, just pinch this nail and look at this. Wow, come on now, this is almost fun. This is going incredibly easy. There's no question we're going to get this out of the way for the move in a couple of days. One thing we want to do to salvage these poles. We're gonna pull out these insulators. Oh my, just continues to be easy. Hey, you got your bike, will you run get me a little bucket? That was easy. Surely we're gonna have a hang up somewhere. This is just going too easy, too many factors. Let's pull this tent off the— off the post, and then we'll lay it down here. Let's lay it down like this, and then we'll come back and we'll roll it up. Jonah is going to continue on pulling it off all the way to the end of that particular fence. We're gonna pull Sally up here. Pull straight up. And these are kind of hard. Some of these are hard to pull up by hand. We're gonna try the winch. Come a little closer. We want to go as close as we can, that way we have the height. Come a little closer. Good. All right, uh, see if it's gonna work. Okay, tighten the winch.
What?
Tighten the winch. Pull it in. Oh boy, keep going, keep going. No. All right. All right, let it off. Too much on the shocks. If you do here on the top— yeah, I could bend it out of there. Yeah, so then you can pull up a little bit, Sally, like a little bit far. Yeah. All right, go ahead. All right, that's enough. All right, there it is. Did it. Jonah, one more thing to do here. Got our wire straightened out. Let's, uh, let's see if we can't roll this thing up. This might be our own We haven't had a complication yet, but maybe this will be it.
I doubt it, it's going pretty good.
It is, it's going pretty good so far. Great. All right, well, there's our problem. We are literally gonna go pick up our roll and be done. Park the tractor. The one time I turned it off during the event It won't start and it's in the middle of the road. I don't think it's battery, but we could do the jump starter to maybe give it some support. I don't think it's the battery because normally it like doesn't do nothing if it's the battery, but I'm hoping it is because I can do that myself and we can get it out of the road. All right, we got it hooked up. Maybe I just need a little more juice. I just hope so. Shoot, it's not our battery. Oh boy. All right, I just called Mark, my mechanic. Man, I have an amazing mechanic. He's coming. I mean, what are you going to do? You, you, you, your tractor's broke down in the middle of the road. Thankfully it's not a high traffic road. We haven't seen one piece of car all morning, but he's coming cuz there will be people coming here, post office at least. Oh, let's make it breakfast and look at there, there's the tractor. He got it started Thanksgiving Day too, man. What a good mechanic. What a That mechanic. What to find out what's wrong in just one second. So you think the fuel filter got clogged up? It's either that or it run out. It's just got a vapor lock in it. You run out of fuel? Yeah, it might have. It, uh, I can see fuel in it, but I guess it could be— well, see this filter right here? It's got to get to this one too. Okay. That bowl stays full even if it's out. Okay. Because it goes into it. That's your water separator. Okay. And I added fuel to it and I got fuel down here to the— okay, to the— to this drain plug right here. He got it started and out of the road and over here and it quit again. So still diagnosing it, but at least we got it out of the road. All right, we've let our turkey brine all night. I've poured the water off in the tub. That means it was in salt water, half a cup to every half a gallon. And now I rinsed it off, and Rebecca, it's ready. What are you gonna do, put this in in about 5 minutes? 11:15 for a 4 o'clock supper.
Yes, I need to put butter on it though. Okay, I want to put—
I'll melt some butter and get on it.
Thank you.
You ready to— got melted butter. Look, take your brush and wipe the butter on there. Get some more butter.
Papa, can you put it right here?
I'm gonna do it right here so that if you spill, it won't spill on the counter.
All right, why are we not gonna smoke the turkey?
Mom doesn't like smokes. Rebecca, this table setting's coming along. You got these just out, out in our yard. I got them off the tree from the tree. Yeah, this is good. Well, you've got the energy again, don't you?
Yeah, I feel like I want to do good.
Well, Mark just left. He got the tractor started. This is good. Beauty's been going to get it again in the kitchen. What you got this time?
This time it is, um, I just made biscuits, gluten-free biscuits, and they're chilling in the fridge. And then this is, um, here's the finished product.
What?
French fries, like French fried onions.
Is that what they're called? I don't know.
You buy them in a little can, fried onions, and then you put them on your green bean casserole.
I am cheating today.
These are so much better than what you can buy in the store though.
Oh my word, Becky. This must be the best Thanksgiving meal ever.
I'm like, I'm pretty proud of myself.
You're on it. Even though you have to work in a high chair.
High chair.
What else you got? I don't know.
A stool?
Elevated office chair?
I have a stool.
A stool chair, there you go. Okay. All right, it's 3 o'clock. About an hour or two, we're gonna eat. Why is it that we eat at weird times? On Thanksgiving. Y'all know Rebecca put a tent on it. I think she wants to cool it off for an hour, and she's got to make room for her other things. Oh wow, it's super tender. I'm saying it's, it's 163. It still should keep cooking, about 167. Yeah, I mean, 170 is ideal, but it'll keep cooking even though we pull it out. It's that time to put the calves up. Flossie is just starting— Flossie's just starting to lay down, and both the little calves over here towards where they need to be to get over. I'm thinking I can sneak and get them over without Flossie coming. What do you think, guys? She's already stood up. She knows, she knows. Baby knows too. Better go get near Mom. Hey, let's see if we can get Polly without having to get her mom. That was easy. That was the first too, getting Polly without Phyllis. Eventually it'll go that way with both calves. So we're gonna have to do the old put them in the sheep And then bring them back over. All right. Oh, you could have caught her. It won't help us here though because you catch her, we still got to get Flossy over. So now we're going to herd Flossy through here. I'm going to hook the calf. Maybe we can separate them. Yeah, you'll get her if she goes on that side and I'll get her if she goes on this side. Okay, we did it, we did it! Okay, okay. You know, I don't know how we did it. Paulie kind of got— blocked her, and we were able to do it. Hope it goes that good for you, Arun. I know two people are working hard. Lily's setting the table. Rebecca, your final decorations are looking great. And now what do you do, put them in the oven after you put those on top?
Well, I'm gonna stir this in, but then you put some on top too.
Oh my, I just cut up the turkey. It turned out amazing. It's super moist. Josiah, you already went through? Yeah. Niece Faith, Aunt Rachel, Big Daddy, Grandma. Yay! Look at this.
Gideon, did you want a biscuit?
I'll bring it to you. Honey sweet tea, cranberry sauce, gluten-free biscuits, turkey, cornbread stuffing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole. Oh my, Rebecca, you're over the top. Good job.
Thanks.
How's it feel after 2 days of cooking? It feels good.
I'm sad I'm 30 minutes late.
It doesn't matter, right?
We're 30 minutes early.
That's right, you could look at it that way. And but the question is, is everything hot? That's perfect. How is it down here?
Good. Good.
How is it down there? You like it, Rebecca? It's good.
Yeah, it's good.
Everything, everything is delicious. But you don't like the green bean casserole? Oh, I do.
I'm gonna have some salt on it. Maybe it just needed some salt.
