I Quit Eating for 3 Days, then kept going

Victor Justin Rhodes fasts for over 60 hours while living in a tent to help hurricane victims. He explains the expected stages of fasting: autophagy at 17 hours, gut reset at 24, fat burning at 36, dopamine reset at 48, and immune reset at 72. Meanwhile, he and his helpers clear fallen trees, repair a water line, and build a fire pit for the community.

Good morning, sleepies. Did you sleep last night, Josiah? Warmed it up in here, buddy. The stove worked and we didn't burn down the place. Happy day. Welcome to the third day of sleeping in a tent for raising awareness for the still remaining hurricane victims. And I haven't eaten food in 60 hours. That's separate. That's just for my health. Lower chronic inflammation. My throat was dry. Am I not drinking enough water? Probably not drinking enough water. A little longer than a few minutes later. How is that possible? I haven't eaten in 60 hours and— Whoa, look at this. What the boys call penny light. Let's do this next bit out here because it's so nice. Yeah, I know I'm not a girl, but it's the only book we have on fasting. I'm at 60 hours. 12 hours I was supposed to give my digestive system a break. Did I? Because I'm still got bowel movements. Autophagy started, which is I guess cell rebuilding, started happening at about 17 hours. Full burn is probably full effect by hour 36. So now we're building, rebuilding those cells. That are so needed in my healing process. Gut reset at 24 hours. Fat burner, 36. Say yes! Just a little bit of the dabba. Just a little dabba. It says dopamine reset at 48 hours. Immune reset fast is 72 hours. I'm gonna go well past 72. I'm gonna go a whole day past 72. Boom! Hold this. Take it a little easy, but I think I have enough strength to fix the cows' water on that side that the hurricane took from us over there. We're almost to the top and clearing the trail and getting the trees off the water line. I can fix the water line in places. That's good for those of you interested in water and creating your own water lines. Gotta take it easy because of the fast. But even though I'm tired, very tired, not so much hunger. The hungry goes away. Gotta keep moving and mitigate muscle loss. After 24 hours, you can start losing some muscle. Hey, look who's here! We gotta get John and Sam's reaction to the tent. They're down there. This your first time seeing the tent? Um, you forgot about the tent? Yeah, I've seen it, but I just— You got to come spend the night tonight or tomorrow night. Man, Jonah, you know what my dad used to say? What? They're burning daylight. Sorry, daylight. Jonas, cows, you take John, and Josiah, you do little animals. All right, I'll catch up to you when I can. I'm gonna take my time. Yeah, I'll probably spend the night tonight if I can. If my parents allow me, yeah. Today's mission is to get a fire pit outside so there's a hangout. And cook a meal on this for the first time. Welcome to breakfast. Minerals in my water. Reemite, which is a magnesium. Reemag, which is— oh, that's the magnesium. Reemag's the magnesium. This is just mixed minerals, I guess. Potassium. Seawater. Normal warm-up weight. Today's warm-up weight. Bet you $10 Austin is gonna speed that up. Austin, that's okay, but show the people how slow I was going. That took forever. Lots of distractions, lots of tiring. Still got the other half of this training. I ain't getting up with that one. Maybe this one? Something really cool just happened. You know, after the first one, I gained my balance and I had amazing strength. I mean, at that weight level. The boys are making breakfast in the tent. I see the fire going. I'm having Austin document most of that because I don't want to see it or smell it. Austin making a movie with them for their channel. 100 hours, are you gonna make it? Yeah, you're at 60. Well, maybe a little more. Why'd you bring such a big pan? Shoes on? No, no, no, bears! Why'd you walk out in this? It's like wearing shoes, bro. All right, Austin, it's It's all you. Smells way too good in there. Time out for freeze dryer delivery. Harvest Right freeze dryer, link in the description to that if you guys are interested to go on this food drying— or food drying journey. Food drying journey. Yeah, this is a way to preserve food and not have to can it or freeze it. Trust me. Hey, how long is it gonna take you to trust me, huh? Been babysitting Blaze the last few days while Lily's gone. Is there anything more exciting on the homestead than a brand new chain on your chainsaw? Let's go get this water coming down off the mountain on the other side of the farm. The hurricane totally destroyed this side. Given that it was south-facing, that was the hardest-hit slopes. So many trees fell on our water line. We're almost done clearing it to the top. Look at this. We've cleared— just thrown over there. There's so much trees right there. Party's over. We cleared this the other day. This log's on top of this, and that could be— yeah, it could be squashing it. It's off the road. Goes up this creek. Do I work at clearing that or just reroute the pipe and go down the road with it? Okay, there's the tank. Yeah, I clear all that stuff down from the tank down through the creek. It's crazy. No, I think I come right here and clear this and run the pipe, run a new pipe right through here. Not many more annoying jobs on the homestead, but it's so annoying. But this is also one of the most satisfying things when you're done. Oh my gosh, I can go up from the tank to the weir without hindrance. I cleared off some stuff. We're getting water through here. It can do better. That's gonna have to be another day. Let's see the rate the water's coming through and see if it's coming down the mountain that fast. And if it is, that will tell us our hose is not pinched, our line. We might not have to uncover that line or get a new one. It should be coming down through there and down to the bottom. It's picked up speed. Broken down here. We can easily fix that another day, and I believe start catching water. Tonight's mission to make camp better— that was quick— fire pit, a place to hang out. Sam, what have you signed up for? Um, I'm not sure yet. A log for the campfire. They're about to then start eating, I think, so I'm out of here. You're serious? What's this? A seat. All right, seat seats from the rubble. I like it. I'm sure they've eaten by now. Let's go see how they're doing at the campfire. Boys, nice and warm in here with the stove going. Nice campfire. They're improving this every day. All right, I think I'm gonna leave it to them tonight. Let them have that in the tent. I'm going in the house. They can be zero brains together. One boy, one brain. Two boys, half a brain. Three boys, no brains. There's four of them. Happy day.
