The excerpt is a diarized, English-language homestead/farm vlog featuring two speakers (labeled SPEAKER A and SPEAKER B), likely family members, as they manage rainy-day chores, search for boots, care for chickens, cows and a calf, repair a fence after cows escaped, discuss a feed delivery, and prepare meals (including breakfast sausage, quiche, broth and vegetable dishes) while mentioning children by name (Henry, Gideon, Judd, Lily, Rebecca).

Good morning. It is another rainy day on the homestead. Chores still have to get done despite the rain. Henry and I are dressed. I've got a load of laundry going in there. Okay, we're gonna go. Oh, you want your boots downstairs? Okay, we're gonna get him something to eat before we head out. I am doing chicken chores today because Gideon is not feeling well. And now on to the next hurdle, which is find his boots. Zucchini is looking great in there. Which— where's your boots? Out this way? Oh boy, you seeing your boots or are they in the basement? Okay, let's go do the basement. Well, someone did such a lovely job sweeping them all in the hallway. All right, what shoes are we looking for? Okay, we're gonna go look in the car. I honestly don't know where these boots are. Car is not in the garage like I thought it was. Must still be out here. Let's look in the truck first since it's right here. It's just such a drizzly rain that we're having, just a constant drizzle. There are a lot of shoes in here, so maybe, maybe not. You cannot find his boots, so He'll just either have to wear other boots or go barefoot. Which one would you like, other boots or barefoot? Other boots. All right, we've got shoes on the feet and we're gonna check these chores and see what we need. You don't like to go in there because of the goose? You don't have to go in. We just need to get some feed. The water is good. Just the sheer amount of rain is disgusting. It's just made mud. I feel like we've had like 3 inches just this week. Um, and we're at— what's today? Tuesday. So this is a lot of rain and it's supposed to rain more. I know we're getting a feed delivery today. Swine up there, probably chickens down here. Yeah, we have a little bit in there.
I filmed all morning. We made a, uh, got great milk from the cows, a breakfast sausage, eggs, and potatoes, a lunch of a leftover meatloaf and ground beef. Soup. It was superb except we undercooked the potatoes. Should have cooked them in, put them in earlier. Probably what I need to— I'm bringing this up because our card got corrupt, whatever that means. First time it's ever happened to me. And filling you in here, I do have evening, afternoon, evening footage I'm going to show you in a second. But what I think is important is the footage I'm about to show you, you're seeing us having fixed this, uh, the feed area to be cow-proof because the night before, last night, it got, um, the cows got out at midnight and they busted through what we had. So I had the boys organize that and fix it, and we're gonna hope for the best. Enjoy the rest of the vlog that didn't get corrupted. Judd said grab a couple dozen eggs. Is it good? What'd you end up with, chocolate milk? Did it end up being hot chocolate or chocolate milk? It was hot chocolate. The name of the game is to always be prepared and ahead. You got to be ahead of the game. We've only got 1/2 gallon of beef broth left. I'm gonna get some lamb bones thawing so we can get more ruminant broth going, which I think is superior. I think that's just— I'm a beef or lamb broth snob now. You can cook this sausage as a crumble. I believe you can fry the peppers and onions. I got some of my spices in my quiche. It kind of matches the flavor of the sausage with the rosemary, the thyme, and the sage. We're gonna try the yellow squash. Is that daring? Just do that one, don't do that other one. Okay, tomato chunks. In the corn. It's pretty easy meal too. For spices, we're going to do salt, rosemary, thyme, paprika, and pepper. And Lily just put potatoes in there. It probably would have been better practice to put the stuff like that that needed cooked first and let it cook, and then put the already cooked stuff in. But let's put— I found some cabbage too, some cooked cabbage. Why not? This is where Grub came in handy. We perfected our breakfast sausage spice, and I said, do that for 10 pounds. Yeah, 10 pounds of meat. We'll do that in a bowl, we'll put it in a— we'll put it in a pint jar. And then, and then I asked it, well, then how much of that spice mix per 2 pounds. So ends up being— it'll be 2.5 tablespoons of this mix once we have it. But instead of getting this out every day, let's, let's make enough for 5, 6 a week. Well, that's enough for 10 pounds. Note to self: I could have done enough for 20 pounds. Probably good. That it's kind of loose like that because you can shake it before using it. Let's see what you guys did. Oh, is this a gate? No, it's just— oh, it's just wedged like that. That could, that could work. That could work. I think you call these a man gate or something. We got to be thin to get through that. Alfalfa stacked and ready. Pig feed, chicken feed coming today. I might have, I might have picked up a little better on the floor. All right, looks good. Let's make a habit of cleaning this area every time we get a shipment. Little bonus, you got all the side-by-sides and bikes under. Don't see this much in the vlog because the boys do it every day, but they're at soccer practice. They're gonna play on a real team and have a real game. That's exciting. So they're not here. I'm torn between cooking and putting the calf up, but cow's the centerpiece of our farm. We got to keep that milk flowing. The earlier we put this calf up, the more milk we get. Henry, where's your mom? Upstairs. Okay. Oh, you went and got your shoes? Yeah. Hey, wait, have you seen these golden raspberries? Mm, very sweet. All right, we left the cook and the lily. Mom's with us. They jumped ahead. They're not where they're supposed to be. Okay, put the fences in. I'm gonna have to walk around this, Rebecca, and put the fence posts in. This is what happened last night. I don't know if they didn't put them in good or the ground just got so soft. Once they get their horns in there and breathe— now let's get the calf over. Funny, mostly they're not in the habit of moving right now, so the sheep don't come. We can leave that gate open. And we can put the calf in here. See, but what happened here? I think they must have got their horn in there, lift it up. We got it hitting at 4.0. If they get out tonight, it's not because it's a weak fence. Said he wanted to race me. Oh my, it's pretty fast. Wow, you're fast! Wow, can you keep it up? Can you run all the way home? Can you sprint? Can you give it some gas? No, don't put her out! Don't put her out! Keep going, keep going, keep going! You gotta make it to the house! You're almost there! Come on! Look, she's on 3 now. Come on, make it to this mailbox! Yay! How'd the keys turn out? I think it turned out fabulous. Quiche, potatoes, tomatoes, and a cabbage— fried cabbage, a little bit of bacon with seasoning. How did you like it?
It's fabulous.
You're gonna take some on a plate? All right, I won. And broccoli for loaded baked potatoes. How's your meal, babe?
It's delicious.
Very colorful. I think that we took it all this all for granted, cuz it's not like we're— this is how we eat. It's interesting. Take note to see what's on the table.
It's definitely delicious.
I give ourselves another 9, 9.5 today.
The only things are like the sour cream, which I could make, and cheese, and cheese. I just need to get into a pattern.
Yeah, hopefully we can make cheese before the end of this 30 days. And isn't sour cream easy to make? Well, we have to get enough milk. That's— well, we're getting— we're getting there, we're getting there. Tomorrow's another day. We're gonna get even more milk tomorrow because we put the calf up early. The fence is hot. Happy day.
