Surprise, surprise, the cows are out for the Homestead Builds cover shoot. We've been trying to set calf separate at night. This little guy, he's not having any of it. Vanilla's in heat though, that's good. Finally, get back up there. Keep— you guys are gonna have to use those metal gates till they get more used to this. Let me be free. Back to the photo shoot. We're framing a nice vertical. We're getting up there with the drone to record on that. Everybody editor Austin, everybody stop giving him a hard time about the edits. I approve every single one and I love every single one. You're doing a good job, bud. Thanks, man. I have feelings too. That's right, you're a real person. Let's show your baby later. Yeah, yeah, I think this is a good position, just turned around. What do you think? Yeah, that's nice. You're at 39%. It's okay, we'll leave it. We got, we got it until we get the We put the drone in the air to kind of figure out where our shot is, and then we're gonna put Austin in the air. A real person. A real person. With a baby. With a baby. Hey, did you guys get them back in? Good job. And you got up early. The idea is to put the Chickshaw in the background to kind of show the, I don't know, a further zone. I can't set the camera. What we're doing here is a cover shoot for for our new book, Homestead Build. Step-by-step plans on how to build these things. This cover shot will have the compost corner, a static run for chickens that doesn't stink, makes compost, the pretty shaw, the raised beds. That's probably about right. It might just end up being a distraction, it's so far away. Okay, if that's what we're gonna do, because we want places for letters down there in the bottom. Okay, it has to be closer to the house. All right, good. Open the door. Put it straight out more. Put it, pull it that way a link. Battery level is low. Aircraft will return to the home point in 10 seconds. Return to home. Okay, Austin, come look at this. Hey, look. Okay, this is my baby. Leave him alone. I have a baby. This is my baby. Back off. You got that position? Yep. And that, you'll Photoshop all that grass. You'll Photoshop out the satellite. What do we have here? First zucchini. Nice. Of the garden. Do you actually have some work to do in these gardens? I did want to just piddle with it, but we're done. You can actually go where you need to now. So how do you think the COVID went, Austin, with a baby? Great. Now we're getting some photos of the new Pretty Shaw so that we can update the photos in the book. Gideon, please go get me 4 eggs. Gideon got me some eggs. How's that look, Austin? That's good. Okay, all right. Look at these baby carriers, mamas. Look at them. Now we need a chicken to come out, don't we? There you go, there you go. That's nice, and I think we captured it with a photo. We'll see if we got a Homestead Builds photo about Austin and editing. Every day we're trying to make these vlogs as good as possible. Well, I'd least like to think that we're doing our best. Think about it. Constantly. I thought it was in there, but maybe it was in the truck. Every day the goal is always the same. Hopefully you learn something. Hopefully you laugh. Took it off to drive the other day. Ah, my notebook. We got a complaint once in the comments. I'll never forget it. They said this vlog is too entertaining. That's just, that's just too good. Too entertaining. But here's what it comes down to. If I bore you for 3 seconds and then there's 40,000 of you— I'm not supposed to do math in public. Well, I think I can do that. That's 120,000 seconds. But how many minutes is that? That's 6,000 minutes. How many hours is that? Divided by 100 hours of precious life. Precious, priceless life. Did you guys see my notebook? Oh boy, there it is where I like to keep it. Oh, let me show you his, uh, all right, you got your favorite drug of choice. Yep, your legal drug. We're about to film the homestead builds Course, I needed this notebook to make notes right before my school. The beautiful one is down harvesting in the garden. I'm a little bit jealous, I'll be honest. I like the vlogs, I like working, and I like this, you know. Well, I like when we've got a project to do that's really hands-on. I love doing this production stuff too. But it's my job, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? The vlog's my job too, but it's really fun. You like editing a vlog or an instructional like this? Like a vlog, it's more fun. Well, yeah, that's what I was saying. Our goal of this Homestead Builds course though, we're not going to give like a 2-hour, uh, just fluff. We're getting straight to the point. Hey, use the pretty shot if These 3 things, steps to, to work in the pretty shaw. These 5 things, bam, done. We're not gonna waste anybody's time. We try to keep this little course under 20 minutes. People be looking for time, you know. Have you noticed I try to be mindful of that rooster when we're shooting? And I'll just stop and then I'll just say it again. So Austin, how do you put that together? I just throw it to you. I'm just like, here's the M50, which is Rebecca's camera, here's the main camera, here's the drone, here's the GoPro. Yeah, how do you piece all that together? I go through the main footage first. Do you add the music before you put in everything else? Yep. Hey, that music is just too entertaining. We got a lot of young people watching. Over half the audience is under 35 years old. So love you young people. And they don't comment. They don't. They got— they get— I don't know. So young people, where you at? Come on, speak up. We went over the compost corner, which is this, you know, it's a static run where, you know, we have which— the concept is we have wood chips capturing the chicken's manure, keeping it sanitary, but also building compost at the same time. Listen, if you could get only one thing from Uncle Justin, if I'm sounding the alarm on one thing, that is probably one of our biggest problems in chicken raising. I'm seeing so many people just chickens on nasty moonscapes, manure icing. We got to do this. It's just too easy. It's too easy and there's too much benefit. You're just putting carbon down. You're just putting wood chips in the chicken run. That's it. Wood chips, leaves, grass clippings, wood shavings, something like that. Chickens to a— every 3— 1 chicken per 3 square foot. Or no more than 20 square foot. Guys, I did a demo for the video. I just raked the wood chips inside. I can't just— I can't say this enough. I'm sorry if you're a big fan and you watch a lot of shows because you've seen this a lot. This is crazy. This is crazy. Why, why, why aren't we doing that? It's too easy. It's a quick win, and you win so much compost made by them. No compost pile needed. No, no turning needed. Just some time and some wood chips and some chickens. Chris, let's keep these— with this extra gable roof, the chickens can perch on top of the nest box, which gets poop in your nest box. We've added this inch mesh on top so now they can't get up into the gable. We also added those little screws so you can line up the shutting, and then that goes smooth. By the way, if you back the Kickstarter, you're getting these plans any day. That is the last of the 12 that go into book 1 of Homestead Builds. Yay! It's taken us like 2 and a half years, but we're here. I even got Austin to smile for that one. Can you imagine? Step-by-step plans for that coming soon. Where you want to go next? Let's go to the meat shop, huh? We're going to print on these soon, guys, July-ish. So stay tuned, we got some bonuses coming. You guys can get the digital downloads early. Gotta get on the wait list. We got some bonuses for when you do that. Go to homesteadbuilds.com. The most versatile chicken coop on the planet. At least every day is bring your kid to work day, even in a production video. How did you get that out of the kitchen? Yeah, big fan of entrepreneurship for one of those reasons being you can stay at home and make up your own rules, which means kids, kids are welcome on the job site. Where do you need me, Austin? Uh, right here in front of you. Flagship model Chickshaw 5.0. What a life. We talked about how the Chickshaw is great for up to 36 birds, good for pasture, good for a big yard. Its mini version which may be even more popular with you guys. A lot of you have small operations. Did you hear that? A lot of you have small operations. Up to 24 birds in the Mini-Me. Just looks really good too. It just looks like high efficiency. 4 foot by 4 foot, 24 birds. They're on a compost job. Did you build something? Yep, the 5.0. Do you? Do you have the 5.0 or 3.0? All right, look at this. I'm just so impressed. With the boys, cleaning up landscaping this week. The farm just looks so good right now. Wow, how do you like that landscape job Jonah did? That guy doing some necessary paperwork. I'm gonna cook up her zucchini. You might want to cook up some of those green beans in it too. Oh yeah, you ever heard of that? Yeah, yeah, let's cook those on the side. All right. Also, beautiful one has informed me— I went to get out the cast iron for cooking the spaghetti. The tomato sauce causes the leach iron, so we're going with the stainless steel. Lily's got some onions fresh from the garden. How many did you get? Just one. Just that one? I might have done two. We got 5 pounds. Frying some onions in copious amounts of butter. Austin, you getting hungry? He needs to be this big. He hopped up, he got up in there. This is a made-up Italian dish. I'm gonna slice this zucchini into— what do you call that? Mixed in the stud muffin. This is a good quick, hey, I forgot the meal plan kind of meal. We got our slices of zucchini. We're just gonna dry it out, bake it a little bit, 20 minutes. Thanks for the zucchini, babe. Oh, you're welcome. Growing up nice. It's done. We use that as a base for the spaghetti, and then you don't have to, Mr. Carnivore. 100% from the farm. Onions, garlic, beef, zucchini, beans. Holy moly. Yeah, the salt. Well, the sauce is not— oh, the sauce. We added the sauce, which is worth it all day long. Yeah, to make what we're growing better. We did it! I think we got the COVID shot. I think we certainly got the Homestead Builds course. If you guys want in on that Kickstarter, you guys who back the project, you're getting that right away. You'll get it by the time we air this video, so pay attention to that. If you guys want in on that, that's going to be a feature offered with the book only as a, as a pre-sale as of right now, uh, before we get to print. Get in there, uh, get on the waitlist, homesteadbuilds.com. And I want you guys to have the happiest of days. Thank you for joining us and giving us your time today.
