We got eggs on the counter. We got eggs on the floor. We got eggs in the fridge. Boom, boom. Arun, you didn't get enough work while we were gone? He's gonna do pull-ups in the house. You coming? Yeah, I started doing here every morning when I come. Oh nice, okay, I like that idea. Let's see if I still got it. Not as good as Arun. How many of those can you do? I can do a stick throw. Woo! Alright, my mission. Take care everybody, let's go. Gideon, Lily, come on. I can't go because I don't have any boots. Uh, Mr. Brown, where are your shoes? Come on. Boy, we haven't had to find his shoes in a long time. His shoes is down there. They're downstairs? Yeah. In the garage? Yeah. Where are my shoes? Uh, I don't know. Mr. Brown, do you know where my shoes are? Yes. I've helped you find your shoes for years. Oh, look. Okay, they're at the other door. They're either at one door or the other, so take them off right before I go in. We've been gone for several days, hence the overflowing eggs. Hey, how are you going to get to your shoes and your socks? Pet peeve of mine to walk on the ground with socks. There's your cowboy boots right there. We got us a new tool. For vlogging, this is a— the newest GoPro. That'll be some cool shots. All right, let's try it. The title is true. It's true. Surprise! I wrote a book. Let's take this up. Here it is. Now this is a PDF version. With the spiral, it's going to be nice and hardbound. But we've did it, and I'm going to talk more about that in the next couple couple of videos. This is crazy. How was the farm while I was gone, Arun? Good. No drama? Clean. You're my man. He's cleaned it up, buddy. Pound Cake's doing all right. How you doing, Beefcake? Let's check these guys. We got to talk to Daniel Salatin, the man himself, about this guy. Sometimes that happens. Sometimes the virgin male is not interested in breeding. We're having a hard time with that. He's got some ideas. We've got a bit of work ahead of us. Not today. About the book, you know how when you're a kid and you learn to ride your bike, or well, the classic, you're riding your bike and you lift up your hands. Look, Ma, no hands. Yeah, probably not the best idea to let me have the hose. So this book thing, it's my look ma moment. But in this case, it's everyone I love, you guys. Look, we've written a book. Next up, we've got our seed. Arun's got a bucket we can pour it into to take it down. Sea monsters are looking good. Did we lose any sea monsters while I was gone? No. I've been working hard on this book since early 2020. So I've been keeping quite the surprise, and I can just now see the light at the end of the tunnel. We're talking about publishing in February 2022. What's the matter? I'm tired. You're tired? We're all tired. It was quite the doozy. I slept good last night though. You not sleep good last night? No. Okay, so that's what this video is about is just me sharing my excitement with you. This is not— I don't need a pitch here. I don't need to sell you on how amazing this book is, how life-changing it will be for you. That can come later. But for right now, I just want to share my excitement with you. Now let's see how my ankles are holding up. This is the test. This is super steep. Okay, they're holding up pretty good. Getting better every day. A little bit, a lot of a little bit. Time for our weekly pig miracle evaluation. Look how well they've tilled in here. Just a light, perfect till. Not too deep, not too shallow. If you go too deep, you encourage weeds. You go too shallow, you encourage brambles. But look at this, we didn't even have seeds to plant behind these guys. Or did we? I don't think we did. So this is bringing up from the natural seed bank. Don't know why we didn't do straw, but grass is coming up no matter what. The week before, we have straw and we have seeds and it's coming up beautifully. The pigs did this. All right, let's make another source fence starting right there. It doesn't have to touch. Then let's cut down through here To the right of the beech tree, down to the road. Put it in there and then cut straight down. You see how you can tell? Look, you can tell right here. See how pig grass? No, non-pig grass. You can see a distinct line right there, fellas. We're up to a full bucket with these pigs. We only got a month to harvest, so I'm thinking let's go bucket and a half because they might be 200, maybe. But let's make sure they at least get to 200, if not 250. All right, come on, my man, let's do this. He wants to do it today. Then you hold to this rail right there. And you twist with this arm. Okay, ready? Watch. Yeah, now twist. There you go. Now walk. We got it seeded while we wait on some straw. Let's check out the silvopasture. Why do we do this with the pigs? Well, they need someplace to go, someplace to be, so why not have them improve the land for the sheep and the cows. And look, thanks to them, they've eaten every single thing in there. There's no weed. It's all edibles. It's all edible by you guys, isn't it? I'm telling you guys this about my book because I love you guys so much, and it's super early. Like, it's not coming out till February, but I want you guys to have first dibs. I'm signing the first 5,000, and the publisher is going to get behind this and start pushing this. So I want you guys in. Seem like she's doing just fine. She went in there lickety-split. She's a little extra hungry. It tells me They've probably eaten so much of this. We're going to supplement with hay. We're still supplementing with hay in this area, but that's okay because every time we have hay and they don't eat it all, that's just organic matter. It's going to improve the soil. The more you guys get behind this and pre-order it— I'm like addicted to this. You go to my, uh, my listing, I'm number 1 in the organic gardening, agronomy. I even made number 1 in engineering. Don't tell me who put me in engineering. Even house and home. We look right now, the latest I've been 63 in books overall on Amazon. The highest I've seen it is 50, which is the first page. This is a good thing. That means this thing is selling like hotcakes, thank you very much. But it also gets the attention of the world. If we can get in that— oh wait, we've top 50. Let's go to top 10. Let's get in the top 10 and show the world how legit homesteading is, and other people find it, and we just expand the goodness. So remember how I was talking about, look, uh, you know, you're riding your bike, you're excited, look, Ma, no hands. That can go badly. I could put this out there and it flopped like number 7,000, 8,000 on YouTube books, but it didn't. People at Homesteaders of America pre-ordered it. People on in the member area have pre-ordered it, and on my email list. And now you guys, just thank you, thank you, thank you so very much. Look, Mom, we can do it. Homesteading was legit. No hands and we ain't gonna crash. While we wait for Flossie to eat all that, let's check out the, the main herd. I should call them flurd since it's a flock and a herd mixed together. So here's how you jump on board, support us, show the world that Homesteading's Legit. Better your life by learning how to grow garden and chickens and live this lifestyle and blend those gardens and chickens to work for you. You can get the book at therootedlife.com, from your favorite retailer, or go to the link down in the description. Thank you guys, thank you guys. We've got a new mission. Our ramlets, we've got to harvest them in just a few weeks, so we're gonna try the crook method. But we've got at least be able to get close to them. If we can't get close to them, we'll have to build a temporary physical chute. But look. Look how crazy they are. They're not into it. Physical gates would be a lot set up. A little tricky if we couldn't just. Could we just get them to do alfalfa? Sheep, sheep, sheep, sheep, sheep there. Sheep, sheep, sheep. It's gonna be hard to grab them from the front with the crook. They won't let me go behind them because then they can't see what I'm doing. I can't even get close front ways to grab them. I might try this for a few days and see if it— if I can start getting closer, but we might have to do the physical chute. Okay, I was almost able to get to where— close enough where I could just like grab them, but they're probably going to be really fast. I don't know, it might be worth a few days trying to get them used to me. What's going on in here? Eating some breakfast. On today's episode of Burn It Up Cooking Show, we've already burned it up. I dried the pans and heated them up, forgot to put on a timer, and buddy, they've dried so much so we've already burnt it up before we even started. Thanks, Jonah. We're gonna do pork fajitas. We have a special fajita cut from the pork we're gonna try out today and see if that's any good. Since this is the Burn It Up Cooking Show, I'm gonna include the struggle to find the spices. What's this? I wish this was like a, uh, I wish this Redmond stuff was a, um, I wonder if they make a, uh, chicken spice. I don't know if you can do this while holding a baby. But I wonder if you should order us some more fajita seasoning because I think this is only one per pound. Who is it from? Is it Thrive Market? It is Thrive Market, organic. And then get us some taco seasoning too, like mucho, like bulk, because this packet is one pound. But I bet we do— we do 2, 4, or 5 pounds at a time. Josiah got us our onions, our peppers. I would say just cut up, I don't know, maybe 3 peppers. 2 onions. Okay, I don't know, maybe all 3 of them. Just do all 3. I'll have leftovers tonight. Cumin and chili powder, is that what you said, Rebecca? Chili. Let's get the garlic ready. Did I put oil in that? I should have done a bigger skillet. We're also doing beef because I don't know, what if Mom doesn't like this? Rebecca's not picky, she's just She's not choosy, she's just got refined taste. And there's not quite enough to have a lunch and leftovers for supper, so it could be that we go heavy on these and we do something creative with the ground beef tonight. Let's put garlic in there, put onions in there, spread it all in good. Let's turn it up. We like it. Turn it up, high heat all the time on the Burn It Up Cooking Show. Let's put Redmond's in there. Did you get the small tortillas? Yeah, there you go. That's fine. And we're doing fajitas, so I like how you've cut it like this. We want it like this. That's— you're almost there. After that one's over, you're done. Okay, for pork cooking, you should probably use bacon grease. Smells— we're burning it up. I'm gonna keep pouring the juice out because I want brown. I think you just need me after having spent all that time in the car seat yesterday. How your tortillas going, babe? Oh, good. This is the Keeping that warm. Here's the pan, Josiah. Put a little bacon grease in that and go. Put this packet of seasoning in there. We're just gonna get rid of it. I might get it again. Now it's so dry. Put it there for a second. Shoot, burning the spices. Could somebody get me some oil real quick? Bacon grease. Bacon grease. Put a little of the juice back on it quick. Bacon grease quick. Okay, that was interesting. That dried out and started burning, so pulled liquid out and then needed to put back in. It didn't burn it too bad though. It's So good. Not a hint of burnt. Oh, maybe just a little. Is it okay? It's got a little bit of burnt. That's it. Well, truth be told, that's why we did ground beef too. This is sort of an experiment. I think it's all right. Wait, did you try that first? It's okay. All right, well, it passed the test, y'all. Next time I'll grease it up before I add the spices, or use our water and put the water I took out back in. Henry woke up, so I'm gonna do a base of the ground beef. I'm gonna add the pork on top, do a bit of cheese, sour cream. The family will do the, the tortillas and the lettuce and all the fixings. Oh, and the, uh, the onions and the peppers. Let's feed my addiction. Oh, that's nice. To see The Rooted Life bestseller. Let's see where we stand this morning. Let's see if we're above— it fluctuates, changes every single hour. We're 117 in books. Let's see what you guys can do because we just now started pushing it out to you guys on the YouTube channel. Can we get above 50? That's our highest marking so far. That's at therootedlife.com. Thanks, guys. Okay, that's good. I didn't get hurt. Of course you're not going to get hurt. That grass is so soft.
