It Worked! the Everlflow Cow Water

In this hands‑on vlog, Victor (Speaker A) documents the installation and testing of an Everflow gravity‑fed water system for his cows. He walks the water line from the mountain to the field, identifies and repairs two breaches, replaces a cracked ball valve, and adjusts flow to prevent overflow and freezing. After confirming the system is functional, he shifts to a brief "Chicken Minute" where he critiques oversized chicken coops, promotes his Chicken Tractor product and his new book "Homestead Builds," and explains why external‑access coops are preferable. The video blends practical DIY problem‑solving with homestead product promotion, delivered in an informal, instructional tone.

Happy day! Welcome to The Rooted Life. We're going to make big progress today. Hopefully setting out our Everflow cow water and testing it in the field. You think it's gonna work? Maybe. I can't see through that windshield. I ran over that rock. Huge rock. I actually may not be stuck. My wheel is in a kind of a hole. I feel like I just got very lucky. Chores behind us, we can work on our project. Let's get the cow Everflow water out in the field. Yesterday I thought it was a good idea to get them these things. It's kind of a problem because once you put them on, you can't really get them off. I was gonna cut those pipes into like pieces this long, and then they can use the connections to build different kinds of things. Except you can't take the connections off once you put them on. Okay, let's go. Hand that to me. All right, come here. Look, Henry, look. Put a corner on this. You guys just have to create it. Look, look, look, look, look, look. There you go. And then you have a square. Look who wanted to sit in my lap. You all right? Okay, don't go to the bathroom now. Nothing between me and you by a thin piece of tin. In order to get water down in the mountain to the field, it's got to successfully come down our water line here. Hey, you guys are playing with them. Problem number 1. Come get me the male to male piece. Fixed. What have you guys built? A water hose. A water hose. I like it. That area is patched. That may be it. Let's just walk the line and see what else we got. That's fixed. We might have a pretty good chance of finishing up if we don't have any more breaches and this still goes all the way to the creek. Disconnected. I don't even see the end. Here on the other side, tree from the hurricane fell on it. Let's take this back down through the road. Good news and bad news. Good news, this line does— is still going all the way to the creek. The bad news is we got two breaches. The good news is one of them's easy. Been the messiest break yet. The ball valve is cracked to bits. Just need to replace that. But you know what, that's okay. We're gonna aim for the impossible. In 10 minutes. Let's get the water over here and 2 hoses connected to it, inbound and outbound. Let's go get our water trough. We are this close. That's this thing going in the field. We have an exit hose. Drain it. Coming out of the little stream, it's gonna go back into it. Got my upper hose hooked up. Look at this, look at this stream of water. Gonna be hard-pressed to freeze that gravity-fed water off the mountain. Always flowing, always clean, never frozen. Boom! Let's leave it to do its work. It's not going to take long to fill that up. You guys stand by on a time lapse and watch it for me. We got a problem. Overflowing. It's coming in faster than it can come out. We should make sure this hose isn't clogged. Seems like that hose is going full throttle. It's coming in via garden hose. This is a problem. There's more fall and pressure coming down into here than what this is going to gain from just this little drop. I think though, if we slow this down, it'll start filling this up with water and then it'll freeze. You know what I can do instead of just sitting here watching that fill? Let's do Chicken Minute. Chicken coops. Let's talk about most chicken coops are too big. People want to go inside of them. Why do you want to go inside of them? Why do you want to go in there with the chickens? You really want to get that close with chickens? One, if you get too close, they'll peck your eyes out. And two, fecal dust. Their idea of taking a bath is to wallow in the dirt. No thanks. I don't need to go in there with the chickens. They nasty. Don't waste the space. Build a coop that you can access from the outside, like all of my coops, like the Chicken Tractor, which I'm giving away with chances to win my new book, Homestead Builds. Link in the description or go to homesteadbuilds.com. Let's see if this is ready. Starting to come through the hole. I wonder if I didn't do enough, but I bet with this cap off and that much opening, surely it'll keep up with it. Now I just realized something. I won't keep the animals from bothering it. You could put the fence along it on one side, but the other side would still be exposed. It might be minimal if we put the fence like this. Yeah, that's what we'll have to do. That pipe just filled up with water. It's going slow down through this water line, so it's not really going to help us to have that cap off. It's not a matter of amount of water being able to get in there. If I slow the water down coming— yeah, it'll just build up. That's what I'm gonna have to do tonight. Okay, water's coming in so fast and hard It's coming all the way top from the mountain. If I slow it down right here, water will just start building up in this line. We need to keep it moving. Let's turn the downspout on a little bit where water still come over here but not as much, and the excess water will go down that line and it'll all keep moving. Uh, we're still— oh, there it goes. That's better. Not as much. See, put my cap back on this. Smell. Wait to see till tomorrow whether that holds up. I believe it will. I believe we're going to bring— right, that's what I did with the big Everflow water. We ought to be able to bring that cows over here tomorrow.
