It's NOT Lupus, so What is it?

This content was created by Victor Justin Rhodes. This content was uploaded by Victor Justin Rhodes. This is a YouTube video titled "It's NOT Lupus, so What is it?" (created 2024-01-10). The excerpt is a casual, multi-person farm vlog-style conversation featuring speakers labeled SPEAKER A (the primary narrator), SPEAKER B (a partner/companion), SPEAKER D (another household member/child), and Brandon (the mobile farrier). They discuss a farrier visit and hoof trimming, property/land clearing plans, animal care (ponies, chickens, Blaze, Peaches), the narrator's fitness training (Simple and Sinister one-arm swings), and a health update: a false-positive lupus test, a history of Lyme disease/co-infections (Bartonella), symptoms (foot pain, crashes, leaky gut), recent medical consultations and supplements, and a plan to focus on gut healing and further medical follow-up. The tone is informal and diaristic, mixing routine farm tasks with personal health updates and plans for recovery.

Really big day today in my Simple and Sinister training. One-arm swings at 62 pounds. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life now, but getting to 62 pounds, which I still have one more level, 70. Babe, how long have we been doing this training?
We started in '21, May of '21.
So 2 and a half years? Yeah, 2 and a half years in, well, counting like the 6-month reactive arthritis setback. Saturday was pretty bad. Feet super sore. Idiot! What's going on?
Busted chain. Teeth are kind of, uh, shredded a little bit.
You know you can grind those.
Do you want to do that to half the teeth?
Grind them? Yeah, grind those teeth in.
We cleared like 30 by 30 in an hour.
Dang, good job. We got leaves. Big news. The farrier is here, the trainer is here. We're gonna get some stuff done for this pony and horse. I just turned 45 a couple months ago, and I'm claiming it. This year is the year of my healing. And for my health journey, we found out yesterday I do not have lupus. We had gotten a positive blood test, and we got a second blood test just to confirm. It was a false negative. No Lucas. What do you think of him? He's great. I think that he's like Rocket's doppelganger, except a little bit more weight on him. He's great. I love his temperament. The mobile farrier Brandon, recommended by Leslie. Leslie, why do you recommend Brandon? Oh, he does a great job and he shows up. Why do you show up? Make people happy, make the horses happy. Is that what gets you up in the morning? Yeah, most of the time.
And some coffee.
So Peaches is happier now. He's good to go. So Leslie, he's too happy now. He's too happy with him. She won't let him ride it, and he, he tries to come back to the barn.
We'll have a talk about that.
What does his hoof need?
His hoof needs a lot of trim, a little cleanup in the frog area. Yeah, it's just kind of overgrown is all. It's not bad.
So where it's coming out extra here gets Right down level.
Basically, you think of it as your fingernail being too long.
Okay, so this is—
these ponies are hard to trim because you can't really get them under your— I see, because they're so short.
Flat filed some of those teeth. I think I got it. Let's go see your job y'all did.
Wood line is right here.
How long this take you?
Hour and a half or so.
This was once forest. That's forest, about an acre. We've called our pig land. We're going to turn that into this. Isn't that nice? Gonna start with us clearing much of the forest. I'm leaving 20-30% for silvopasture. The boys have a mind for airsoft court somewhere on the edge of this property.
That property line goes like 400 feet that way.
Hey, we had it surveyed last year.
He said he would put 2 trees from that 2 logs from that tree to that tree down there, and then you push all the dirt away.
This is so steep. Slide steep. Now this is cool. Wow, that's our creek.
Yes, look, there's the ribbon.
Why don't you never wear boots on chores?
Uh, more comfortable. Why do you want to be over here?
Get out of the 2 acres.
It's not better than the 2 acres. And why don't you just play in it as it is? Although they could do it. It's that steep, and I think it's too much wear and tear on our machines. So what's the plan?
Well, I'll ask Josiah if he wants to chainsaw it.
Yeah, you could just walk over there, just get it up with a chainsaw. So if I don't have lupus, what's wrong with me? I have Lyme disease. We've known that for a while. Well, actually, my Lyme disease tests show past infection of Lyme disease. I think it's what you call a co-infection. Of lime, in which I have Bartonella. He's kind of been acting out lately, so I've been keeping him extra close. Yeah, he really thrives when I keep him close.
I think that chicken was gonna give eggs.
You wanna go check it?
We got those 4 eggs from it, but okay, we might have them. Okay, because it went right back.
All right, it might be broody.
And then she got mad.
What's the problem? Well, my feet hurt all the time. That's the main problem. I've got these special magnet soles I put in my shoes. It's woo-woo. My back gets some muscle soreness, and about every 6 weeks I go through this, what we call crash. I crash physically, I get tired mentally, I'm in no mood.
Can you pull me on the wagon on the road?
All right, follows and helps me, I'm gonna help him. Now I'm not gonna pull you with sound, I have to pull you by hand. I'm about to pull you like a rickshaw.
Move it out up there!
Too much jostling! Magnets aren't the only things I'm doing. I'm fasting, I'm eating clean, I'm walking every day, training, I take supplements. You about ready? I cold bath, I sauna. Yeah, I'm like an old man with my big supplement pill boxes. What supplements do I take?
That you do take currently?
Yeah.
Okay, so, um, can I go get my cheat sheet?
Oh yeah.
In the morning you take NAC, Arterosol, Gista Supreme.
Ready? You don't need to whip. Ready? Yeah. Giddy up. Yeah. Oh, and I was getting high blood sugar for really no good reason. Probably from all the inflammation in my body from all these years. 15 minutes. We're enlisting another doctor. This will be our second visit. Maybe we'll find some answers of what's wrong with me if it's not lupus.
Our doctor did— she wanted us to get this second opinion.
She was obsessed with mold, metal.
It's gonna be interesting to see what she has to say compared to what the other doctor was thinking as well.
There was some, you know, I would say pretty significant leaky gut going on.
Okay.
So there's that.
3 big takeaways from that call. One of them has to do with that. I mean, cloudy. Vitamin B deficient. The electricians are here! 2. I need more omega-6s, which means more fish. What'd she call it? Salmon roe? Like fish eggs? Salmon egg? What is happening? Plumber's here. Randolph's here. Randolph's always here. He's the best. Hey, what's going on? Blaze knows how to get out.
No, Blaze does not know how to lunge.
Well, that's okay. He doesn't need to lunge. I'll take him on a walk.
He won't be walked. He won't be walked. He's stubborn. He wants to be with Peaches.
Really? So when you put a halter on him and leash him out, he won't go with you? Well, what if we put them both out and with the cows, they have a little more room to walk around? Will that work? These two boys are kind of like those two boys. When they get together, they get a little crazy. One boy, one brain. Two boys, half a brain.
You just are clear that we're still alive.
Nice. Let me get this straight. He won't lunge. You're afraid you can't exercise him. I like that noise distraction right there. Let me see if I can take him on a walk.
He won't go.
You don't think? All right, let's try it. Let's see if you would be able to take him on walks. Look, he don't want to come. He doesn't want to come without Peaches.
You want to shut it?
He's pulling at me. It was a hard start, but now he's going. I'm not having to pull him anymore. Peaches is getting kind of crazy though, man. Y'all are bad as sheep, or worse. I was afraid Peaches was going to jump this fence, do something stupid. Okay, so if you need to walk, Blaze— he started walking once I got on the road away— you could put Peaches in the stall. Sam gets to be king. Well, you know, those first two things, it's kind of like, I don't think those— that's going to address my issue. The third thing, I've got so much stress. We had high levels of stress. She said she can't make— wave a magic wand and calm me down. I am working on stress. And then she pointed out leaky gut. We can get supplements for that, but also broth, our farm broth, our yogurt, our raw homegrown yogurt. Oh, overall, how do you feel about that call?
I feel great. I feel good. We're gonna start with dealing.
We got 6 weeks to heal my gut.
6 to 8.
Yeah, she can't start me on the— was it the detox for the Lyme and whatnot until we get the gut straight, which I thought was very wise. Next 6 weeks, we'll check back in. Gut Healing 101 broth, here we go. Pork broth from the farm. Happy day! We are on our way to healing. Food not just energy, but medicine.
