Happy day. It's dark and early. It sure isn't bright and early. I'm hoping Jonah— I had the walkie-talkie in the car. We've rented a wood chipper. It's $500 for a day. That means we need to get it in by 10 o'clock. It's 6:30. That's 3 hours of work. That's really pushing it. Aha, practically a full moon. We could almost work by the light of the moon. See if that walkie-talkie's in the trunk. We need the truck anyway. He cleaned out the truck nicely anyway. I set it down because it was dead. It's only good for a couple of hours. Hey, you know where the walkie-talkie is? Should be done. There. You for sure saw it when you cleaned it up? I did not see it. Yes, I saw it. We had the problem last night where the chute got clogged up, and that delayed us probably an hour and a half. I feel like we'd be having a leisure morning this morning if that had not happened. How's that? Welcome to my office. You like that sound? Rushing creek. It's a beautiful office. I'm fortunate to have this kind of office. Job site's lit. Shoot, if I'd have known we could have lit it that well, we might have started a little earlier. Of course, I don't know how well we can see in here. Y'all can't see it, but I can see it. Camera doesn't see as good as I do. If I had to estimate, we probably have 3 and a half hours of work. We're aiming for the impossible, right? Let's do that. Any extras warming up? Wood chipper is warming up. Let's start this fall. And we have a pile taller than myself. We're trying to figure out how to load the brambly stuff too. Shove it in and then pick up another pile and shove that in. That's, uh, working-ish. I feel like it's the 20% though, you know, the 80/20 rule where you get 80% of your results from 20% of the effort and flip-flop that. We do this, it's hard on the machines, hard on that machine, it's not as fast, and I have to sit here and hold the go button. Kind of hoping you were renting like an industrial. Is this not the industrial? This is which— if I saw the other day, yeah, you just load the stuff right into it like in this hole. That's all the top. So you're probably talking about a tub grinder. Let's hook it up. We've got a really nice pile over in the 2 acres, stacked perfect. I gotta leave in 15 minutes. Hopefully I'm not making a mistake. And I think we could work up this other pile in an hour. That's a pretty big pile, right? I went fast though. That's how we have to stack it. It only gave us this little pile. Small. That's maybe half a windrow. Center for a pig port. What do you think? If we leave now, we'll, we'll get back on their time. There's that brush, but based on that performance, that's going to be so little brush, that's gonna be so little wood chips, and it's just not worth it. Because if we're late, it might as well rent it for a whole— yeah, they could charge us for a whole nother day. We aim for the impossible, and impossible things are happening. We're like not even gonna be late. Go real wide here, go right around here, and you're gonna hit this bend. Go as wide as you can. Keep going straight. Uh, you are gonna miss it by 6 inches. Good job. 9:07 they said. That's about what it's gonna take us. We won't even have to ask for an hour extension. Always time for the chiddlers. Go tell Mom I'm sorry that I don't have— we've gotta go. Tell her I said I love her. It'd mean the difference between $500. If we're late, it's $500 more. That's a lot of money. There it is. It's like the size of Mars here. Okay, so technically we have to be there by 9:07, 9:05. I think it's actually 2 minutes away if we didn't catch this red light. See it at the green sign? Go in at the green sign. Is it $500 a day to rent the big excavator? I think the big excavator is more than that. You guys want to go see all these machines? Yeah, they even have There's some dump trucks there. You guys want to go see all this stuff? Yeah, baby! Chip, I do! Well, we got there and they said, you— did you fill it up? Because then they charged $10 a gallon. Diesel's only $3.50 right now. Did I just say only $3.50? Well, compared to $10, that's a lot. They said we wouldn't be late if we went and got fuel. They seem very reasonable. Okay, you guys want to get the tour? You got to get carried because we got I'll wear this. Are you guys going to be super shy? What's your name again?
Taylor.
Taylor. Okay, Taylor's gonna give us a tour. Did y'all get blown away with the hurricane?
Oh yeah, our wash bay was down for a while. Uh, we're still running the fuel tanks on generators.
What?
Um, yeah, there was a tree that came down here.
Okay, did it ruin any machines?
I'm actually from the Charleston Charleston, South Carolina. This is all down stuff. You don't want to see that mess. All right, fun stuff is over here.
You got all the way up, up. Yeah, yeah, this whole little, little tiny creek, enough to flood your bay. Look at that pallet lifter, Henry.
You know what that's called? There's a couple names for it. The technical term is a telehandler.
Okay.
Uh, but some people call it a lull or shooting boom forklift.
What do they— what are they lifting so high?
Um, so those actually extend out even further too.
Yeah, what are they doing?
Um, there's, you know, tall buildings, getting materials up on the tall buildings. Um, the man lifters, these boom lifts.
Yeah, when I was little, my daddy had one of these on a truck.
He used to take us up to watch the fireworks show.
Do you have a non-air brake dump truck for rent?
Uh, Um, most likely, but, um, if, if these aren't the, um, there's other PCs nearby, but unfortunately with the trucks, um, you'd need to open up an account.
Okay, look at this big forklift. You guys get up there. Come on, come on, just sit in the seat. You can see the trash that's washed up. We got on over this bridge. Thank you.
Absolutely. Y'all have a good day and a Merry Christmas.
Yeah, thank you. She's even given us the vest. Hey, we got a vest out of it. You want to go pee in the woods? Can you make it home? Notice anything different? Gap's filled in. Toe kicks in yet? Ah, toe kicks are in.
Now the kids can't sweep their dust piles underneath.
Ground molding incoming. Gonna look like that everywhere. Cabinet guys are here finishing it up. They'll probably be here through the evening. They come far away and we want to get it done today. Oh wow, this is new. Okay, so our— whoa, our pantry is hidden! Our pantry is hidden. This feels like The Chronicles of Narnia. Going into this cabinet world. Look, it's not open to everybody anymore. That's neat. Look, he's looking for it. You found it! All right. Hey, looky here. Yeah, you got extra help today, huh? You guys are growing up, putting down the toys and putting— picking up tools. That's drastic right there. That's what it looked like, guys. You'll get done with this wall today, right? Yeah, this wall. You gotta do that to the whole house. Yes, looks good. Good job, boys. Let's get that started tomorrow too, right? Because the cold weather's coming Friday. Look what we got in y'all's nastiness. Got a little diaper change for the pigs. Wood chips. We'll spread it tomorrow when they're distracted because you would eat me alive, wouldn't you? If you could. Whoa! This evening we slammed some— well, that's what's left over of gravy, onions, apples, a little bit of left pork chops. You did a good job on it, Beck.
Thank you.
She is the crazy citrus cleaning lady. How much citrus juice do you need? Orange peel juice?
Well, this is the time, this is the season, okay, to make it. So I've got 2.5 gallons. I mean Probably like another gallon, maybe.
It's gonna be a cleaner for you.
Yeah, so I use that as my, uh, rinse aid in my dishwashers.
I wish I would have took some before they got started. There was no doors.
I'll just do this.
Just have you messed up yet? Open the wrong door? Yes. Yes, I messed up.
Did you?
Yeah, I opened that door thinking it was the snack drawer.
I was so excited about this.
Yeah, I didn't see what you envisioned there, but it's nice.
Our pantry, and then this got finished.
Hidden fridge and freezer.
These are the right size doors.
Should you label maker these?
I will. Not on the outside, on the inside. I'll label maker what goes on what shelf. And then did you see the crown molding?
And up, up there you got crown molding right there.
And then over here.
Okay, it's not quite done there, but the hood looks fantastic. But get hugs for envisioning this wonderful house, this legacy house.
Oh, I love it.
We'll host many a Thanksgiving and Christmas, Passover and New Year's Eve. And what else will we have as family parties?
Fourth of July.
Oh yes, we do a big Fourth of July. That's it. We got it wood chipped today. Let's deal with those tomorrow. Let's deal with the wood chips tomorrow. Yes, start the wood splitter or wood stove. You don't want to miss it. Happy day.
