Make sure we get all the milk out.
Yeah, all right. Wow.
Are you kids about ready? Ready to get wet? Grass-fed girl, that seems good. This is one of the easiest, most satisfying ways to feed yourself. Okay, sounds like my kind of recipe. I searched for a carnivore recipe because I don't want to use a lot of ingredients. Just something simple like salt and butter and beef broth. Shoot, we don't have any beef broth, do we? We probably have some frozen. I wonder if we have some frozen.
Boom!
Let's go with this though. And this is a defrost pile. This is your milk, bro.
That, that was already full.
No, I poured it this morning. Poured it this morning. We got our broth, 2 tablespoons salt.
Pour me more milk.
Oh wait, wait, just one second, okay? This is saying 4 or 5 pounds roast to 3 to 6 cups broth. All right, I think I need the big broth.
Not to like last night. Only one of them.
You know, when I watch these cooking shows for some inspiration for my Burn It Up cooking show, I notice they always have the ingredients on the counter ready. Bacon! Maple syrup! I mean, that's all well and good. I mean, that's really well and good. But that's not real life. Real life is being interrupted during the middle of the show. What you need?
I want milk.
I got you milk right there. I poured it this morning. I promise.
Yeah, but it tastes like cream.
Okay, give me one second, I'll get you a new milk. And forgetting to thaw out your meat the night before and not having enough water to soak it in.
Oh, the milk.
Wait, you don't want milk anymore? Yeah, you want yogurt?
Okay, I'll get it by spoon. That's good.
Let's stir it in, honey. It's a wet one. When it rains, it makes it quite a bit more challenging to homestead, but the animals still gotta eat, we still gotta eat, and the show must go on.
Hey, look, we're spacemen together!
It was pouring this morning. Now we're all suited up and it's not raining. We tried to move these pigs. This is where they were. Look at the job they did while we were gone. Most excellent till job. We tried to move them. Cheesecake got excitable and just wouldn't be pushed through, so we left the old paddock up. Hopefully they'll get used to it. Hey, Jonah! Let's make sure we can move her first, right? Have you fed them?
No.
Okay, good. Our plan is— who's over there? Is that Cheesecake? Okay, Cheesecake's in the new area. We're gonna feed them in the new area and then close it off, and then we can get up their old area. The new fence here, we're going to stretch it across, and then we can pick up the old fence. Are you going in a pattern?
Yeah.
Wait, I would rather go you in a zigzag pattern.
I am.
No, you— oh, you were gonna go that way now? Oh, okay, good. We're missing 2 things and we're ready to move on to problem number 2. Hey, what are y'all doing in this old shack?
Playing a game.
All right, well, we're moving on. Let's go.
Okay.
Hey, you think you can go with us?
I can't.
You want to try? Look who's not wet. Chickens happy as could be in the high tunnel. I can't get that down with you guys in one hand, so just stand right there. Oh wow, it's about to be 25 degrees tonight, so cold front coming in. Let's I'm glad we shut them up. How's everybody this morning? Hamburger, Flossie, Stud, how you been? Not you, not you, Miss Fang.
You're first to milk. Good girl, good girl.
Ready?
Let's do it.
Let's get Maple through. How you been, Polly? How you been, Maple? You got this drill down, don't you? You got this drill down. Look at this view though. Problem number 2 for today. Yesterday Phyllis showed signs of mastitis. Her milk was extra thick and yellow, and this teat was a little sensitive, and it was just more extra yellow. And out of the one, the same one that happened to be sensitive, I did the mastitis test, and sure enough, seems like she's got a little bit of a case of it. First thing we're going to do is some Excel 7000 Synergy Animal Products. It's basically essential oils and herbs, organic, 30 milliliters. I mean, I've been syringing it, but it all goes the same place, right? Can I just put it on top of her food and spread that evenly over it? I mean, if I syringe you, you're just gonna go eating afterwards anyway. So I'm gonna milk the infected quarter out into the grass. We are gonna milk it, make sure everything gets out of there. One thing we can do is see if she got temperature. Can you raise this tail, Ellie? Hold it up. All right, I think this battery's dead or something. I thought that wrench was in that bucket. There it is. Okay, well, at least it's here. Oh, we also have— don't need to test her. I tested her yesterday. She's got a little bit of it. Jenna, you didn't send Josiah with the reservoir. Whoops, he left before I had it to me, bro. Okay, yeah, you cleaning up nice? Okay, that was the deal. He can go in, but he's got to clean up. We're just gonna tie her up temporarily until we get Mama back over there. We used her to help get all the milk out because we need to give Mama a break. We're gonna do an injection in her teat, and that needs to— we don't need to calf to suck it right out right away. Take this old one off, try not to make contact with it so it stays sanitary. We want to— we don't want to introduce an infection. Tenergy Animal Products Selleck's Gold. I'm not looking forward to this. I almost did it.
There it is.
Ah, had it! Shoot, can't use that needle. Landed right in some I've put hobbles on her before and she's fallen, and that's not pretty. Got some in there. Okay.
Yep, doing it.
All right, did it.
Woo!
All right, let's give her what, an hour, hour and a half? We'll put the calf back on. We were able to move the shed easy yesterday even though this is a crazy steep hill. See, but it did rain all night last night and it is slippery. Josiah, we're going to need you to just slowly move it forward and we're not going to push with all our might. We made it over enough. I failed to tell Josiah to keep going. He stopped and we kind of got hung in a steep place. It's doing a wheelie. It's kind of hung on a knoll and you're in like a mulch spot. If the wind keeps going and doesn't rain anymore, It might get dry enough. Otherwise, we'll be bringing out the tractor tomorrow. All right, we are back. Today's episode of Burn It Up Cooking Show. Oh, we'll need some onions. We got some onions off the land. We got the kids in here getting beets and carrots out of sand storage. I just realized we're gonna have to put this on hold because I forgot I'm on the MeetRx with Dr. Shawn Baker. I'm on his podcast today at 12. Rebecca and I need her for support. We've got Alice Spring chicken going for, for breakfast, so Rebecca, you're gonna have to step away when that goes off and feed the kids, and we're gonna have to pick this up. Maybe something— maybe supper will be late, I don't know. So for those that don't— aren't familiar with you, if you don't mind, can you give us a little background on, on your, on your history? That was fun. At the end, I had to turn it on him and I started asking questions. Like, you know, I kind of want to use like a normal person every once in a while. How do you deal with others not on board? So that was fun. It was a real conversation and it was cool. Somebody I look up to, hanging out with them for a while. I think you guys should go check it out. I'll hopefully find out how you guys can and get that to you, probably in a future vlog. Skinned them and now you're chopping up the vegetables for me? Yes. Thank you. Oh yeah, you want the sizzle. Slay. It's all nicely seared. Rebecca's putting in the veggies, and we got to cover it. Is it okay if it's not like perfectly covered? Yeah, it's totally fine. We're a little late putting it in there. I wanted to put it in an hour ago, but I think 3-ish hours will be enough. Well, we just pulled it out of the oven. What are you doing?
Pulling out the beets and potatoes.
How come?
So it's separated so we can get it.
Okay, there it is. Meat, potatoes, and beets and carrots. Everything but the potatoes from the land. We win!
