Kubota Called. They’re Giving Me a Tractor (and more)!

In this vlog, the host (Speaker A) leads a lively morning on the family farm, covering a wide range of activities. They begin with a quick tour of the garden beds, noting the progress of herbs, sunflowers, zucchini, cucumbers, and a unique persimmon‑strawberry combo. The family checks on their poultry, confirming the loss of two turkeys and the current count of 18, and updates on the sea‑monster fish. They discuss the imminent arrival of a donated Kubota tractor, utility vehicle, and mini‑excavator, which will support the completion of the new people’s barn and improve electricity and internet lines. The electricians are on site digging water lines, with careful coordination to avoid damage. Planting continues with beans, squash, butternut, and other vegetables, using biodegradable planters and soil blocks, while family members assign tasks and share inventory. The host reflects on past planting attempts, encourages the team, and emphasizes a “just plant” motto. Later, the vlog shifts to a brief workout segment where Jacob demonstrates a QL stretch, breathing techniques, and the family follows along. Throughout, the tone is informal, enthusiastic, and collaborative, highlighting the challenges of farm life, the excitement of new equipment, and the importance of family teamwork.

Beautiful day, nice and cool. Feeling energetic today. The heel is almost healed. We got a photo shoot this morning. We also have mucho seeds to plant. Boys, don't get too distracted. We got all the chicks— chickens we have left out of here last night that didn't already escape the pasture posse. So there's only, what, 2 or 3 hens in here? Only 3 lone hens and a rooster. Ben's here to kind of capture the moments, the month. And then when I look around, a lot is happening in a month. Look at Rebecca's herb garden. This is the only raised bed not planted yet. Mint is jamming. Sunflower garden is jamming. Raised bed 2 going great. Raised bed 3, no problems. Raised bed 4 funny. There's a zucchini sign in here and there's no zucchini. Cucumbers are about to climb the trellis. Little baby lettuces coming up. And this though, look at that. Boom! I thought this was really cool— the persimmon tree with the strawberries growing underneath. Nice combo. How are the sea monsters doing this morning, Jonah? Hey, for all the failure we had in the first batch of sea monsters, we're down to like 47 of them. This— we only lost one in the shipment. We lost none in the city. They're Jannen's.
We didn't lose any.
Where'd we lose one?
We lost two turkeys.
So now we've lost two turkeys? Yeah. Okay, so now we only have 18 turkeys tonight. Turkeys are a little more fragile in the beginning, so we're doing good. At the minimum, we, we want 12 turkeys, one a month, but we want to give away some too, so we want more than that. Today's Wednesday, so in two 2 weeks we butcher the main posse and these guys will go out in the field. I said, have men— did you ever get a picture of our tractor? He's not. So this is for boots. It's broke down. Mark's been working on it, so how fitting. Speaking of tractor, have you guys heard? Kubota is giving us a tractor and a— they call it a utility vehicle. It's gonna go up in there maybe as early as Friday. This little mini excavator for the electricians to run a line of better electricity from our house and internet from our house to the people barn. They dropped it off yesterday, so I'm imagining that's today. Ben thought of that angle. He's way up there for this. This is the biggest news this month, I imagine, finishing the people barn. Good morning!
Good morning!
You guys up and at 'em? You're gonna plant with us? Okay, well, we gotta get the sea monsters and then we'll be ready. Are you sleepy?
I am a little bit.
Now this is his best time.
It is. He's happiest here.
Are you a morning person? That's good for being a farmer. That's good for being a farmer. Not when he's grown. 2 weeks on these guys. They are looking amazing. We do have to move them from here to here. 3 days ago they were right here. Look, it's yellow. Yeah, it's, it's over-nitrogened, but this will come back greener than ever before and will always be greener. You guys have eaten your tray. Are you out in the king feed? You're out in the king feeder. You've got some over here. I want you to notice we put the Energizer on this corner so that when we move today, we don't even have to pick up— well, we have to get this line out of the way to move them over. But then we milled— we put it back and we build the fence over here and we don't even have to move the Energizer. Are you really gonna ride that downhill? Yeah, can you do it safely? Yeah. Have you done this before? Yeah. Okay, I know, right? Oh, that's fine until you hit the big rock. Oh, you all right? Henry, are you ready to plant? They found a dead butterfly. How beautiful.
Okay, do you want to do like the green beans in that?
Uh, green beans in that? Shoot, he was saying an inch and a half, I think, soil blocker. So is that an equivalent? That probably is. Can you just do regular potting soil in that?
Yeah.
Okay. And that's probably all you need because that's 1, 2— that's 72.
It's 72.
Okay, so then you would do maybe 30 more. So yeah, do that and then do 30 more in these, these types, these 2.5-inchers. We're gonna go ahead and get our soil, Jonah. We're gonna put it in this, moisten it. Maybe let's do that out here, and that way the soil will be good and wet throughout, not just on top. We'll where we'd water it. Local Dirt Craft. I feel like she called it a levitation mix. Rebecca, the Dirt Craft's organic? Okay, you want to get the water over here, Gideon? Maybe the one that's up at Lily's Posse. All right, good. Let's turn it off right there. We don't want to overwater it. Ah, so dry. Come here, Gideon, let's do more water. Boy, I can't even tell it's had any water.
Let's take this to our beans.
And, uh, I guess just this so it fills up, right?
Yep.
We got our beans. There's your pot of beans, babe. Next up, I love these biodegradable planters. Just no soil block making, just put the soil in there. Plant and then just plant these directly in the ground. Anything to make things go quicker, you can get more done. Johnny's got his own mixer. What do you got, a rebar post on the end of that? Yeah. We planted 2 trays of butternuts, a half a tray of spaghetti squash. We got burnt out one year, we planted way too much spaghetti squash. We're still not over it, are we, Beck?
Nope.
We got an acorn acorn squash, green beans. Little Chidler asleep. We've noticed something about him— he can sleep through anything if he's on you.
I know, but he doesn't necessarily like the carrier.
No, he doesn't like the carrier.
Frustrating.
6 zucchini, 6 homemade cukes, cucumbers. Actually trying to free mom up here so you could sit down with the baby because we're almost— we're close enough to be done. It's maybe not worth it to try to go get a wrap. These are flowers.
No, these are all pumpkins.
Oh, okay. Half trays or full trays per pumpkin?
Um, this one I want a full tray.
Let's get an inventory here. Full tray, say half trays, another half tray. That's it, Arun. We have enough. Yeah, you can finish planting and then we'll go milk.
Okay, sure. What, that you got enough?
I, I laid it out according to how you had it. We still have an extra tray if I did— if I messed up. Two extra trays, Beck, suit your heart's desire. How do you feel? We got it all planted.
No, it feels good, feels good.
Yeah, don't feel like a failure, Beck, because we planted in that area we didn't know till you— till you try. And we still have enough time for this, don't we?
And until my friend Ashley was planting in her rock hard soil, and then she was telling me about the results, and I was like, oh yeah, that's exactly what's gonna happen to us. It's not gonna work.
So we just planted. We live by my motto. We just planted. We're gonna make it up for it right here. We'd hoped that'd work. It didn't. We're gonna try again next year. Josiah, it is Jonah's turn to help with the baby. Can you pass him off? Mr. Henry did wake up, and we're gonna go milk the one cow. Guys, remember, it's only one cow. The electricians are here. They're starting to dig. I think I might actually put this on you guys. You've seen milking a million times. They're nervous they're gonna hit the water line. It is right in there somewhere, so he's taking it really easy. You haven't hit the water line, have you? Oh good, you found the water line and you didn't hit it. He's good. Looks like they have made it without an event right here. Gonna be no problem to get right— they gotta get to this pipe that they already hired a guy that bored underneath the road. I think he's nervous about crossing right there because that's the water line. Just gonna do a real light dig. Well, it looks like they've had uneventful They've got their two lines buried. They're packing it in now. They've got their two lines all the way to the road. That's what we want— uneventful pipe digging. It's the afternoon. We are, um, I'm excited. Just got off the phone. We're a little late to our kettlebell training, uh, because Kubota called. The stuff's coming tomorrow. It's two tractor-trailer loads. I mean, Kubota, when you go, you go all out, I guess. It's ironic though, isn't this ironic? That seriously, Lucky, our tractor, is broke down in the way. But thankfully he's not bringing tractor-trailer. He's got a little truck that he's actually gonna make trips, and then they're gonna come and train me on it Friday. So we're not gonna like drive-drive it tomorrow. But it sounds like we're gonna get there with all kinds of stuff like brush hogs, everything. Is that a rotary mower? I don't know, a big thing for mowing, mowing like gnarly pastures and whatnot, which will help us clear our forests. I didn't think this was coming. This has been a long time coming. This has been months. Like, I didn't even quite believe it was gonna ever happen. Like, I'm a 42-year-old man. 2 tractor-trailer loads worth of tractor equipment. You know, Brandale, Brandale trading, trading for promotion and marketing. So I don't have to like pay dollar bills for this. Like, they just want to get the word out. This is like Christmas. This Christmas morning for a 42-year-old man. Big Daddy's got the baby. Jacob, they said they're too— you're too easy on us. Yeah, yeah, Monday I was, and that's all right.
Today might be a little different.
Oh, we're in no hurry, Jacob. We're in a hurry. Okay, do you like The electricians are up in our spot at the people barn, so we're gonna do this at the pretty place, which this might be our new place. What do you guys think? You see why I call it the pretty place? Goodness, Jacob, you're throwing us a curveball. Yeah, the 80-pound curveball. That's not what we signed up for.
Yeah, that's what you have to walk.
Okay, he assures me it's a, uh, holding down the mat. We just did our workout. Feels good, feels good. Well, we're building up to the workout now. We're going to do the cool down. I want you to see this though. I want you to do— what's this one called, Jacob?
This is a straddle, like a QL stretch.
Rebecca, have you done yours?
I just did.
I just did your straddles.
I did, I did, and I did pretty good.
Tell me if my pants rip.
I don't think they did. Okay, yeah, I know.
So I'll show you the breathing. I'll show you the breathing as well. So a lot of times when people go to stretch, they'll lean over. So for the QL stretch You get your feet as wide as you can. You take this hand, you reach for that foot, and then you take this hand and then you reach over the top. So a lot of times when people go to stretch, they go like this and stay all tense. So me reaching like that, that's as far as I can go. But then as soon as I use stretching breathing or relaxation breathing, I'm able to get a lot farther.
So I'll go— check it out, he's really gonna touch his toe that way. Am I going to be able to do that one day? Absolutely, yeah, because this is like— I'm way off base on this one. Hopefully we're going to get a before and after because months from now, because I cannot do what he just did.
Okay, yeah, reach that hand towards the foot, that foot over there. There it is. And then over, and then use that breathing.
Almost there. Oh wow, okay, the workout is out. We're feeling good. Tomorrow, if you want to see a 42-year-old boy at Christmas morning— Kubota's coming tomorrow morning.
