In this heartfelt vlog, the creator (Speaker A) delivers a spoken letter to his father who passed away a little over a year ago, marking what would have been his 88th birthday. He recounts the circumstances of his father's death, expressing gratitude for being present at the moment of passing, and reflects on the emotional void left behind. The monologue weaves memories of the father's habit of checking the vlog, the creator's yearning for that paternal reassurance, and the way the online vlog community has become a surrogate source of comfort. Speaker A thanks specific community members, notably Josiah Andrews, for prompting him to post a vlog, and acknowledges that many viewers share similar losses, creating a collective space for mourning and remembrance. The tone oscillates between solemn reflection, gratitude, and a gentle call for continued community support.

My dad died a little over a year ago, and today is his birthday. I actually wrote him a letter last year. Dear Dad, you would have been 87 today. So, well, now he would have been 88. You would have been 88 today. Instead, you died a year and 2 months ago. He passed away at 4:45. 2 days before you passed away, I asked if you were still watching the vlog, to which you confidently said yes, and when I die, I'll pipe them to heaven. So here's a vlog letter for you. It was an honor to be in the room when you left. You were there one minute and gone the next. I missed seeing your final breath, which I regret, but I'm thankful I was only an arm length away, so I reached out and touched you before you went cold. Our touch went balmy instead. Then I let go, like you did. Good for the both of us. The room of your final breath was filled with the ones you loved the most. Your deathbed was surrounded, proof that you loved well. I'll never forget the eruption of weeping, a testament to a pop-shaped hole Piercing dozens of souls. Seeing you dead haunts me to this day. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I was honored to be there. Honored to be among those you held so dear. To allow us to see you in your most vulnerable state. Dead. You are our biggest fan. I miss that dreadfully.
Listen to this vlog every night.
That's right.
Faithfully.
You would call me soon after 8 if the vlog wasn't up and ask if everything is okay. I miss that, that feeling of a daddy's pride. Then I wondered who now is going to call me looking for the vlog. Then I realized, just New Year's Eve, I was hanging out with the farm and just posting a year-end photo on Instagram. Commenter Josiah Andrews said, "Vlog today?" He was looking for the vlog. Oh, sorry. I forgot to hit the publish, the upload. Thanks for that, Josiah Andrews. I feel my dad's spirit in that. Thank you guys, the vlog fans, because he loved you dearly.
I'm sure glad to keep seeing all you guys every once in a while and keep up with you.
I love you dearly. You're a big part of the community for us. Many of you are— have also lost parents or children and are somehow identifying with this. And I think it makes it a level easier on all of us that we can go through this together. And 2020 has been a challenging year and we've accomplished a lot on this farm. Farm in our lives. And every moment, every moment we do something amazing, I wish my dad was here. So he's not, and there's no replacement for it. But there is a little bit of glimpse when, when one of you comments looking for, looking for the vlog and all your all your nice comments and encouragement, good times, bad times, ugly times. So for that, as my granny would say, thank you, thank you, thank you.
