Live Thanksgiving Special - What’s on our Table

In this live‑stream hosted by Rebecca and Victor (Speaker A), the duo celebrates Thanksgiving with an international YouTube audience. They greet viewers, introduce guests from various locations, and invite the chat to share what they’re thankful for. The core of the broadcast is a kitchen showcase: Rebecca walks through her holiday menu—maple‑sweetened cranberry sauce, almond‑flour cornbread stuffing, pumpkin and pecan pies (sourced from Daniel Walker’s book and Carrie Vit’s website), gluten‑free biscuits, sweet‑potato casserole, blueberry tea, and spiced apple cider. They discuss homestead logistics such as multiple fridges/freezers, a broken main fridge, a generator, and a future plan to raise their own turkey (currently sourced from Polyface). The conversation also touches on early Christmas decorations, including a live Christmas tree kept in the basement before the holiday, and handmade ornaments made by family members. Throughout, they express gratitude for their community, mention recent concerns about platform policies affecting their family‑friendly content, and honor a friend named Boots by noting a collective tree‑planting tribute. The stream ends with thanks to viewers, a promise of a follow‑up vlog, and warm holiday wishes.

We are live, Rebecca.
So happy Thanksgiving!
We're waiting for folks to get on. Thank you, replay viewers, for watching this. We're gonna have a good show here. We're thankful for you guys. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna show you what is going on our table for Thanksgiving, and we're gonna talk about what you guys are having for Thanksgiving. So just feeling in a thankful mood today, right, Beck?
That's right.
Okay, hopefully people can get on. Here they come, they start to roll in. Crystal, Elk Boy, Bradley, Josh, welcome, welcome, welcome. Thank you guys for coming to the show on this special day. Some of you guys aren't even— you're overseas, it's already tomorrow. Um, Thanksgiving isn't even a holiday everywhere in the country or everywhere in the world, so, uh, getting some people in here, but still, it's good to be thankful no matter where you are. So we got some— we got Jesus.
Yes.
Betty, we got Lily in the house, we got Aunt Rachel in the house right now.
Hi, Happy Thanksgiving!
Aunt Rachel says Happy Thanksgiving. Somebody says I have 2 ducks. Oh, we got Denmark in the house. So okay, good, they'll get an insight of this very American holiday. So Rose is in the house. Hey Rose, welcome to the show. California Jimmy, uh, Happy Thanksgiving to you too. So As we get some people rolling in here, tell us what you're thankful for this Thanksgiving Day. Would you like a recipe? Let's get a piece of that. So what have you— what have you found?
Oh, do you want to see what I've been doing?
Yeah, let's— yeah, I'm gonna try to flip it. Yeah. So what are you making for cranberry right now?
I'm just— I've just got them in the pot and I'm gonna add some maple syrup to them and which Lily just got me. Thank you, Lily.
So we sweeten with maple syrup and honey.
Gaps is honey. Maple syrup is not Gaps, but I'm veering away from Gaps just for Thanksgiving. Yeah, because I don't think it's gonna—
big cheat, big, big naughty girl there. Big naughty girl.
All right, going from honey to Justin the other day, I said, do you think that it's horrible if I eat sweet potatoes On Thanksgiving.
Kenya in the house. Okay, they want to see the Christmas tree. We will— guys, hey guys, hang in there in the show and we'll show you the Christmas tree. Remind me at the end, I'll show you our Christmas tree. We are those people, we decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving.
Okay, well, hold on, I want to show Rachel—
you think that's funny?
I think it's hilarious. My fake cornbread stuffing. Yes, that I have. It's just almond flour corn cornbread, and then, um, green onions that are from our garden. The chicken broth is from our farm, and then celery from the store.
Yeah.
So, and then salt and pepper, and then we'll just bake this, and it is so good. Put some dressing on there.
How long will you bake it and what degree?
I just bake it for like 30 minutes, so golden brown, and it kind of crisps up a little bit.
So there's no—
I don't think there's a recipe.
Is it better than Almond— is almond flour, is it better than corn?
Yes, I can't eat corn.
I know, but would you rather eat corn if you could?
I probably would. Oh, um, Justin likes the almond flour.
Yeah, it's more moist, so that's what I was hoping you would say.
And then Lily and I made these pies earlier today.
We got a Sweden in the house, by the way. Kenya in the house. Heirloom Permaculture in the house.
Lily, Lily's idea to write love and do the hearts.
Okay, good.
This and the, the pumpkin pie is from Daniel Walker's book Celebrations.
Nice. And then the pecan pie, also from—
no, Daniel Walker had a chocolate and I didn't want to, I didn't want to make a chocolate.
Why not?
Because I wanted a regular pecan.
I didn't know a chocolate pecan pie existed. You've been holding out on me.
This is from, um, her I don't know if it's in this book, but this is from her website.
Okay.
Carrie Vit, Deliciously Organic, makes this one.
Okay.
Makes the pumpkin pie.
Does it live up to its name, Deliciously Organic? So good.
Okay. She makes all sorts of good recipes. And the pie— the pie crusts are from Celebration.
Yep.
And then sweet potato casserole is already made, but it's still in the fridge. I made biscuits. Let me show you a picture.
Uh, the kids are outside playing. Mr. Brown is sleeping, by the way, so we We are totally live here. We might have to step away if he wakes up.
That's the best picture of the biscuits. That's sad.
That's a terrible picture.
It's a terrible picture.
Doesn't give those biscuits justice.
But they're, they're cooling in the fridge. I made blueberry tea, that's in the fridge. Let me see what else. Oh, I have to make collards. I have to cut up my collards. So we're gonna have spiced apple cider with our pie and blueberry tea with our dinner.
Where's that? Oh, I would like to say it's in our fridge, but our fridge is broken. Show them what's in our fridge, Beck.
Our fridge is empty because it's only 52 degrees in there right now.
Yeah, right. Nope. Tomorrow they want to know if the fridge is fixed. Nope. Thankfully we have a cool room.
Yes, and two other fridges, and we crank that down to—
and you might be a serious homesteader if you have 10 fridge or freezer units.
And they're getting a generator.
Praise be to the grid.
Who said that?
No, I said that. Is that a good joke? Okay, where are we going? Wait, you didn't show the turkey.
I was gonna go to the Christmas tree.
No, no, you gotta hold off on the Christmas tree. You gotta keep them hanging.
Okay, well, I feel like we might need to get this on the beginning.
What do Americans class as biscuits? I don't know, we'll have to— you'll have to watch the vlog tomorrow and we'll shoot the biscuits. We'll show you.
Well, they're gluten-free biscuits, so they're not like biscuits.
Yeah. Where's Bear? Somebody said Bear is in our bellies at this point. He's in the freezer.
That's the Polyface turkey.
So that is a turkey from Polyface, guys. We didn't grow our turkeys this year, but next year, next year, I can't wait. Next year we— it just— we did so much this year with sheep and pigs and everything else. We don't eat that much turkey. Maybe, maybe once a month we would eat turkey. Are you hiding behind me?
No, I'm not trying.
Okay, so Rachel, is it not— is it okay to decorate before Christmas? I mean, before Thanksgiving? You think it's okay?
Yes, yes.
Okay, you're a stylish lady. It's totally all right. You didn't think we were nuts? Okay.
No, I love it.
Yeah, somebody said it's good. I mean, if you're gonna have a Christmas tree, it's good to enjoy it as long as you can.
That's right.
All right, so I'm gonna flip this back on to Rebecca. All right, there it is. Mr. Brown just woke up. Yes, it does. Yes, we didn't want to kill a tree this year, so we, we bought one live. Somebody gave me an idea to put it in the basement first for a little while for a transition, because it's going to be—
oh, that's probably—
it's going to be in like— you like it 80 degrees in here during December. Rachel's nodding. She's shaking. She's, she's nodding her head right there.
80.
I do like it warm, and you have a sweater on, but that would be a harsh adjustment for this tree.
Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Okay, but I'll show you some of my new additions.
Oh, we're gonna—
yeah, I got a pickle because this is the first year I have to ferment a pickle.
Okay, celebrate the pickles.
Bacon, because we love bacon.
Yes.
And, um, oh, you can get up close to this one.
A lot of South Africans in the house, by the way.
This is— this was a present.
Can you guys guess who that is?
To my parents. I guess they re-gifted it back to me.
Yes, that was Rebecca when she was a wee little girl.
This was first grade. I don't—
you were Mary in the Christmas pageant, Christmas play. Were you a good actor? Was she a good actor, Rachel? What were you in the Christmas play?
I think I did a Three Blind Mice, and we had to do like the squid to cry.
Oh, you were a blind mouse. You were a blind, blind mouse.
I think so. I had pink gloves, light pink gloves, and I had to act like we were crying.
Somebody is here from Finland.
Oh, hey! And the kids made ornaments this year. Look, they made— um, Grandma did seashell ornaments. With them, and noodle ornaments.
This one's hideous.
Grandma showed it to me. This is so special.
Happy Thanksgiving, B.
That's right, that's yours. Lily made this one.
Norway, Sweden in the house. Good job, Lily, you made a noodle man.
I'm trying to think of what else. Oh, Lily also made this one down here. She put love on a piece of paper and taped floss Floss and string.
That's cool.
Very, um, very smart of her.
Somebody said, do we have a 411 on your shoes, Mr. Brown? Mr. Brown, where are your shoes? They want to know. Are you done talking about the tree, Rebecca?
I can be done talking about it.
Okay, if you want to keep going, you can. Okay, we can hang out for a few more minutes, guys. I know many of you got to get back to Thanksgiving. We got a lot of internationals here, so I know.
Well, Happy Thanksgiving from the USA to wherever you're at.
That's right. I'm giving her a hard time because traditionally we put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving, so one holiday at a time. But this year we've mixed it up.
No, it's good to mix it up. Somebody wanted to know where— they are not honey tree collards, they are from the grocery store, unfortunately. Yeah, but somebody wanted to know where you got your sheet cake.
Too far away from us to get regular produce. I wish we could get— or we would probably not even have a garden. We would probably just trade with them.
If Casey and Tori lived down the street from us, we would not grow a garden. I would just buy all my produce.
Like, why? Like, they grow such good produce and we grow such good meat. Let's just trade.
Um, somebody wanted to know where you got your sheep cage from, and that's a custom build.
I had, uh, Ben, my friend from Holler Homestead, weld that thing. I hired him to weld it, but I got the idea from Greg Judy.
I'm gonna text Casey and tell him that you suggested that he deliver all the way to me.
He's not gonna like that idea. All right, 45 minutes. I don't want to see that delivery bill.
I know, right?
We didn't raise our own Thanksgiving turkey. We will next year.
Yeah, it just got—
I got high on the priority list because we don't eat that much turkey.
Um, I think that it was also just the whole getting the sheep thing and then growing 10,000 square feet of garden.
Yeah. Oh, and the kitchen renovation.
Yeah.
So how's it been working today in your kitchen?
It's wonderful.
Your new kitchen, has it been nice?
We love it. I'm loving it. It's been really great. No, no corn, Carol. I can't eat any corn.
No corn, no wheat. Actually, no grains.
No grains. Yeah, we're doing a no grain.
You wouldn't feel sorry for us. It's gonna be absolutely delicious.
There might be a little bit of grain in the biscuits, but—
Oh, there might be.
I think it's sorghum grain.
Did you just lean your head on me?
You're such a cute couple. Aww, so cute.
Got some love here on the live show. Okay, they love your kitchen. So we are thankful for you guys. We are very, very thankful. You know, with, with the recent scare about us being able to, you know, maybe being affected with our family-friendly content. Fortunately, it looks like we're not. But going through that, thinking, oh my, are we gonna have to go private platform on this? And, uh, we're, we're just so— just knowing that this could have gone away as it is, it just makes us that much more thankful for you guys and what we're able to do. You know, we can inspire and teach, and we're so happy to do that. And you guys are there for us through the thick and thin. For— you want to—
well, somebody just said that they planted some trees for your dad.
So see, she planted like an almond, a fig, and something else. Doing it for Boots. Hashtag doing it for Boots. I'm sure thousands of trees have been planted for Boots.
Yes.
And that was so good to go through that. It's so good to go through this grieving process with so many different people. So many people got our backs.
Yes.
Like, there's a— there's still a whole container of cards.
Yes.
That you guys sent when he was ill and wishing him well. Yeah, it means a lot. So, so a lot of people in here are doing it for Boots, planting a tree for Boots. Thank you guys for taking the time to tune in to us on this Thanksgiving. Was there anything else we wanted to cover? We showed them everything we're going to eat.
I think that's it.
Um, we talked about with them some of what they were going to eat, and we got to say hey to a lot of people. It's fun to spend time with our YouTube family on this special holiday as well. So we've been We've been vlogging this, and so that— this— this will come out tomorrow. You guys enjoy that video. We love you guys. Happy, happy Thanksgiving.
