Magnificent Harvest | Killing Stud Muffin

The video documents a family’s harvest day in which they slaughter a large bull nicknamed “Stud Muffin.” Throughout the recording, two speakers (A and B) discuss the logistical preparations—track loaders, boom arms, guns, protective gear, and gambrel support—while reflecting on the emotional weight of killing an animal they have raised and named. They recount past experiences with animal euthanasia, emphasize respect through naming, and describe the involvement of several children (Josiah, Waylon, Austin, Jonah, etc.) in the process. The narrative includes moments of humor, nostalgia, and candid emotional reactions (relief, sadness, pride). After the kill, they detail cleanup, the time taken, and plans to preserve the animal’s head and hide as a rug for the household. The video also serves as a promotional piece for the platform Abundance Plus, where the uncensored full footage (including graphic butchering) can be viewed, noting YouTube’s policy restrictions. Overall, the content blends practical farm work, ethical contemplation, family dynamics, and platform marketing.

It's harvest days for those two guys, our bull and our ram. Let's envision it going really smooth, knowing exactly where to put it, pulling the trigger without flinching, him dropping without any pain. Happy day, and welcome to another day in the life of some folks who feel the weight of the sacrifice of their meat. Hey, where's Salma? I mean Sally. Lily has her. Do we need the Mini X over here in case he's too tall for the track loader? Yes. He's gonna be so tall. The track loader will only go so high. Flossie was too tall for that thing, so surely Stubnuffin's gonna be. Remodel work continues. Trying to think about other things. It's not working.
La la la la la, let me be free.
What's it like killing a furry friend? We do allow ourselves to get attached. Why? It's the utmost respect. We name them. Getting attached means we care for them. Naming them means we treat them with respect. He'll be— you know, it makes butchering day difficult. When I was a kid, I had— I would raise St. Bernard puppies and sell the puppies. And every once, you know, you'd have a lame one who couldn't use its back legs. And we knew we needed to euthanize it, put it out of its misery. And I was 14. I couldn't do it. Too tender-hearted, I imagine. So I called my brother Bill, who was probably in his 30s at the time. I think as you get older I don't know if the— I would hope the tender heart doesn't go away. I hope you just have— I just hope that what I'm doing is adulting and I'm doing the right thing, uh, whether it's easy or not. We gotta eat, and every day something dies so that you and I can live. We get to know who that is that died, and we got to ensure that they had a really good life, and we harvested them before they went downhill. You know, he's already, you know, I noticed yesterday he's kind of panting. Jonas says he's a little more ornery than usual. He's got, you know, he's kind of getting old and And he's here to feed us. That's why he's here. I'll say his name. Stud is here to feed us. Breed the mama cows. He lived up to his name, Stud Nuffin. Came in milk. Those calves were there to feed us with meat or with dollar bills selling the heifers. Supply check: gun, protective gear, extra ammo, knife, alfalfa and pails if needed, Gambrel support blocks, chains, nachos. Gambrel— I don't quite have the relationship with nachos I do studs. No nacho 3 years-ish. We've known Stud Muffin 6. He was our first animal when we got back from the Great American Farm Tour in 2017. That should say something about how important he is. Josiah, does that boom arm go up high enough? Do you think it'll be high enough? Yeah. Okay. How do you feel about this? You're 14. Good Lord, Josiah, he was— you were 6. You think you'll cry? Cry not. It's okay to cry. 6 years ago, you're not— you were 3. It really is all you know. I was gonna say you'll never believe the bottleneck this morning, but you will. You'll believe the bottleneck. We can't find Mr. Brown— or not Mr. Brown, Henry. We can't find Henry's jacket. Okay, it was not in the field.
It's 8:12.
Well, Austin will be here at 8:30, so we have 15 minutes. Everybody has to do sweeping search.
I think it fell out of the side-by-side. Cuz I put it right there.
Remember when you and Henry— morning, and I put them in 30° side by side right there when you two were playing in the woods?
Yeah. Okay, we got him that wool coat on, and so he's wearing the wool jumpsuit and the two blue— a blue sweater, and I think I might put his rain jacket That's where they were playing yesterday.
Not here. They do have him in spare coat. I have no idea where his sweat coat is.
He seems to be just fine. He seems to be happy.
Good morning, Austin. Morning. Film live action. All right. This is not so much a movie as Harvest and Stud Muffin. It is a family Harvest and Stud Muffin. Does that make sense? So get our dynamics and film our process and dig into our heads, maybe even with some prompting. You can film everything— kill, cut, blood— you've got the Abundance Plus for it. We cannot show this on YouTube, it's against policy. We can, however, show it on Abundance Plus. There's a free trial right now, abundanceplus.com. No way, she found it! Hey Austin, do I got boogers? They go free. We cannot show this on YouTube, it's against the rules. We can't I show it on Abundance Plus. It's a free trial right now at abundanceplus.com. Also leave the link in the description. No censorship there. See the whole thing because it's important. I think it's important, but YouTube's not the platform for that. Everybody go around the barn, and once you go around the barn, be quiet. He's not used to this. We don't want to stress him out. Construction crew caught wind of this, wanted to watch too. As if I didn't— pressure's on. Okay, we did it. I got emotional. I think it was relief, happiness, sadness all at once. We got him in the first shot. He never knew it was coming. I am very gross. We have the guts out finally. Gosh, what'd that take, 2 hours? You almost— We cleaned up. Yeah, proud of you. We cleaned up. Yep, we happy we got Stud Muffin out just in time. We just barely got him out of here on time. Was not expecting that. Yeah, he's, he's 3 times as big as our normal steer. At least twice. Yeah, I would have started at 6:30 if I did that again. Yeah. What's your first impression, Waylon? He'll think nothing of a cow butchering. Yeah, enough. Yeah, he's always going to be around. Yeah. What was your impression then? Did you butcher a cow before? No. I'm excited to do it myself. That was a big guy. Hopefully my first one will be like Half the size. Yes. Monday night burger night, how appropriate. Let's go. Well, you've had the energy. Yeah, a couple days in a row. I'm good.
Good, I'm happy for you.
And we got only this little dinky donk dishwasher. Have we called in this one yet?
No, it's been too busy today. I mean, I feel like I've gone to a first thing.
I've been so busy.
Big boys.
Big boys. Put the fat on there, baby. I haven't been this hungry in a long time. We just got filled up, plus we found a local guy who, per Jonah's request, we're gonna stuff Stud Muffin's head, and we're gonna get a huge Stud Muffin rug. In our bedroom.
I know, it'll be nice.
And Jonah says we should put the Nacho rug with his head still attached in the office. Office rug. They were our first breeders. He said it lasts forever.
And like, we have a lot of kids, they often have the legacy rug. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, because he's like, should we get Flossy done?
He's going to take care of Flossy's head. Happy day, y'all! If you want to see the whole day, abundanceplus.com. I'll see you over there.
