In this brief instructional monologue, the speaker personifies Mother Nature as modest and preferring to be covered. After clearing land to establish pasture, the speaker emphasizes the necessity of promptly covering the exposed soil to prevent erosion from rain. The recommended approach is to first sow seed on the bare ground and then spread hay over it, creating a protective layer. By covering the soil, the speaker asserts that Mother Nature will respond with improved pasture production and greater abundance.
