I guess it's just me and you, Mr. Brown. Too cold for everybody else right this minute. Their door's open, but they're not getting out. Too cold for them. She's laying down. I hate to disturb her. Crunching down, staying warm. Well, we gotta do this. You wait right there. She ain't going easy this morning. She said, you wake me. Hey, Violet, we all wanted to stay in bed. Look at you guys, staying warm. I wanted to stay in the bed too. It was cold in the room, covers were warm, chickens wanted to stay in their bed. Even the chickens want to stay in their bed. Call the Inquirer. We were enjoying what we thought was the spring. What happened, spring? Isn't today the first day of spring? It's not? Mr. Google Pants doesn't pick up out here. Pretty sure it's the first day of spring. Where y'all going? Come on now, I spent longer getting you ready. You gotta go in there. Hey, bear. Oh, I keep forgetting to put the bucket there. She's not as bad when she's not from the stall, but when she's out in the field, she's usually done her business. But she was laying down, so she's probably gonna poop too, so I'll just keep that there. Oh no. Whose? Stud muffin! Whose pasture? Wade's pasture over there! Shoot! Okay, Jonah has come down and told me stud muffin is out. Well, at least we have Violet.
He's been really restless this morning.
Huh.
I don't know if you noticed, but he was like running back and forth in the paddock.
Yeah.
And then the next thing I know, he's over, over there, like up. He was trying to get through. He like ran that way to get through that thicket, but he ran through the thicket. No, I don't know how he got over there. Okay, he was just being crazy.
He's crossed the creek.
Maybe he'll come back.
I'm gonna get Violet here tied up so she doesn't go over there. Okay, what I'm gonna do is tie Violet up right here. The theory is he's gonna come back to her. How did you get over there? I don't know if he went up this— this right here, because there's a barbed wire. There's barbed wire. My guess is he went down through here, across this fence, and up that way. Do you see any tracks? I'm pretty sure he's not going anywhere because Violet's right here. He's acting like he wants to get back here. So let's set up our fence for the day, Josiah, and see if he just comes on his own. Hopefully he'll come over naturally on his own, and we'll see where he's been getting out. I've been working over here quite a bit and I still see him just getting content over there. Come on, stud, get back with your people. Josiah looks like he's taking his sweet time. He's on the neighbor's property. He can't stay over there. I think I have an idea to bring him back. I don't see any tracks here. Oh, there's some tracks. Maybe he came down here. Josiah, come on. He's come down here. There's poop right there, but he wouldn't have come around, got on the bridge. No, he didn't come through there. He came down here trying to get back. Let's make a funnel here for him. Hey, back up! Yeah, the idea here is we'll put the poop and channel him down through there. Did he come up this? Yep, this is where he came. Why Did he go over that barbed wire? Yeah, look, there's his hair. Crazy. Why did he act so crazy? Get out. I put Joe back at the house. I don't want him to do anything crazy. Pretty nervous right now, but can't show it. Come on, come on. Nope, nope, wrong way, wrong way. Come on, let's go back to Violet. Let's go back to Violet. Come on, come on. Deep in the voice. Come on now. Does that work better? There you go, there you go. Come on. Oh my God. Gosh, so much for my theory that they're not gonna go up that bank. Okay, I am so happy that that happened and he showed me what he was willing to do before he took Violet with him. It's 8:20, Josiah. You think we can get this done by 9? I think so if we hustle. We got our lane poles up anyway, down past that tree. Right there. We just need to get them in here today, so we got to set up our wires now. You got our wire? Put the posts up. Just says putting the line up. There we go, we got our cross fence up. All right, come on. Ready? Okay, getting the water over here. Hey, will you go turn it on? We'll see See if it's gonna work. I'm not frozen. Nothing. That does take a while to go through the line. Oh boy, it's probably frozen. That kid just had a great idea out here helping me in the cold. Yeah, yeah, unhook the blue garden hose that we have to the garden, fill it up from— we have a spigot over there. Usually it doesn't matter if it's cold in the morning because this trough is filled up and we just break the ice and then fill it if we need to in the afternoon when it's melted. Back in the main cow field, make sure this thing isn't kinked. Oh yeah, that's kinked bad. How did it get so twisted? There we are, there we are. I hear water. Is it working? Hey, we're getting a trickle. We'll take it. Oh, there we go. Look at there, buddy. Oh, did that come out of it? Yeah, it's pushing that ice out. That's strong water. Boom! We've got our paddock set up here. Water? Nope. No water. No. Okay, I had to come in. It's 9 o'clock. Booty's almost done with breakfast. Gonna have to go back out, get it situated. But tell me what happened from in here. You guys were the ones that let me know Stud Muffin was running. What happened?
Hold on, let me turn that down below. Okay, so after I got out of the shower, I noticed that Stud Muffin was running in his little paddock. He would go to one end and then he would turn around and run back, and I thought, that is so weird. Why is he doing that?
And then that's where he was supposed to be, in his pad.
Yeah, he was supposed— that's— he was supposed to be in there.
Did you see him jump, jump out of his paddock?
No. All of a sudden I noticed he was on the neighbor's property running towards freedom, and so I yelled to Jonah, go out and tell Papa. But I guess he realized that he couldn't get out of that area. The brush is too thick over on that side.
I went and saw his tracks to that area and I could see that he stopped abruptly there, actually made a deposit there, and then turned around.
I guess he realized he wasn't getting out.
He must have heard your talk yesterday of turning his innards into pills. Yeah, he said he's protecting his opal.
I'm getting out of here.
Did you see him escape? No, he was just a messenger.
He was laying in my bed.
Where have you been this morning? I was laying in the bed. Oh my gosh. But I came out and did my feeding. I have enough money for the trap. Oh yeah, the rat trap you were building the other day. He's decided he's gonna buy one, and I'm glad because I saw yesterday— let me show you— I saw yesterday A rat, not a mouse, a rat that big. I'd be happy about him buying a rat trap. Breakfast was amazing. Would you believe it though, Stud Muffin got out again, even with Violet. She didn't get out. I put them back in, they're in the new paddock now. You happy now, Stud? I think he was done with that old grass. No reading, so It could mean this has got a dead battery. So here we know it's hitting, so let's test it. It's reading the same as the Energizer. Okay, so that means we're not connected somewhere. I would like that controller to be hot, hotter. Problem is it's carrying that chicken fence right now. I'm going to do something about that though. That chicken fence needs its own system. System. First up, let's see if it's making it to this line. It's making it to that line. Let's see if it's making it to this line. It's making it. Our water filled up. Just needed to push some ice through, I guess. Not making that jump. Huh, is it on here? It's working there. It's not working here. Weird. There it is, it's working there, but it lost a lot of juice. It's like 4, almost 5 there. 5. It's probably not making the jump across. Bet it's not making it. Nope. We need to get wire here. I switched out the white fence, the rope fence, because it wasn't making good contact. Oh yeah, there we go. We're in business. We're in business. I'm a little more concerned today because we're going to town, all of us, and I just don't want them to get out while we're in town. Lord knows where they'd end up. Okay, closing out this vlog, but I'm gonna go into town and guess what I'm gonna get I'm gonna get a post hole driver, fence post driver. Oh, more giveaway stuff. We're gonna announce a giveaway April 1st. We're gonna open it up for the— for entries. This is— this was the best grass in America, guys. Greg Judy talking about how it's done, talking about how he farms and makes a good profit farming other people's pastures. Great stuff. Good stuff. I'm adding it to all the goodies. Let me end this with some of the most beautiful footage from the tour at Greg Judy's farm. Another beautiful day on Greg Judy's farm. We're up and at 'em. We're gonna move the cows this morning from there to there.
