In this informal, first‑person video, the narrator recounts how, over a decade ago, he and his partner acquired four chickens (named Uno, Dos, Tres, and Cuatro) with no prior experience. The birds escaped, were chased by predators, and ultimately all four died, teaching him hard‑won lessons about chicken behavior, flight, speed, and vulnerability. Over the years he transformed these early failures into a deep expertise in permaculture chicken keeping, mastering predator‑proof housing, land‑based feeding, using chickens for garden work, and breeding from egg to adult. He now teaches tens of thousands of people through his online course and a documentary titled “Permaculture Chickens.” He announces a limited‑time free giveaway of the documentary (a $39 value) and a complimentary three‑part video class, providing dates, times, and a call‑to‑action to sign up via email. The video blends storytelling, humor, practical advice, and promotional messaging.

You know, a long time ago, I don't know, 10+ years ago, we were standing— me and the beautiful one— we were standing in this place with a friend talking about how we should get chickens. We weren't growing anything at the time. We certainly didn't have chickens. But you know what? We should get chickens. And I'm not lying to you, within 5 minutes— I don't know if they were somewhere and overheard us or it was coincidence— someone walked over, someone we kind of knew said, hey, do you guys by chance want any chickens? Sure, I got 4 chickens you can have. You want them? Yeah, give us 4 chickens. So long story short, we drive over, we get these 4 chickens. Now we know nothing about raising chickens. We grabbed these 4 chickens, we called them Uno, Dos, Tres, and Cuatro. Happy as can be. We got home later that night, we Well, you know this, we live actually in a barn, so that was convenient. We had stalls downstairs. We said, let's put them in some stalls. And that night we just— I mean, we put them in, got them some water, got them some feed. Hey there, at Full Circle Farm here, the guard dog. Anyway, we got them some feed, we got them some water, but we were so— we were so excited, we would, uh, we would go check on them. I went and checked on them one time that evening, and they had these stall doors that you could open the top or the bottom. Well, I opened the top and Uno and Dos flew out. I didn't even know chickens could fly. Who knew you guys could fly? Did you know chickens could fly? Actually, the record-breaking chicken fly is 13 seconds. I hear you laughing, but that's certainly more than you or I. It was dark, and sadly I couldn't find Uno or Dos. I wrote them off. But the next morning, I come out the door and there's one of them, uno or dos, right there on the porch floor. It's like right there, like not even— yeah, maybe where that black one is way back there in the back. Well, I kind of sneak up on it and I think I'm gonna corner it in the side, you know, it's kind of like sneaking up on this guy and corner him this side. And there's no— there's no way. Chickens are sprinters. Did you know a chicken can outrun Usain Bolt? But not for very long. I didn't know how to catch a chicken. I didn't know you could catch a chicken. So I ride it uno and dos off, never saw him again. Got got by predators. Well, I'm assuming they got got by predators. I'm assuming we don't have North Carolina wild chickens because we have raccoons, possums, foxes, all kinds of crazy things. Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're dead. Well, Trace and Quatro survived, and we soon got more chickens. But it wasn't long— I don't think it was months, I mean, it was just months, it wasn't like years— that eventually we lost Trace and Quatro also to predators. That was over 10 years ago. Slowly over time, I became the apron-wearing permaculture chicken ninja. Master! You don't look at them. You act like you're not seeing them. And there you go, you catch them. And I learned all kinds of stunts. Stunts like how to feed the chickens 100% off the land, how to protect them from predators so you have no predation, how to use chickens to do most of your gardening, and even how to breed them and hatch them up from eggs all the way to adults. You don't have to learn the hard way like I did. I've since taught tens of thousands of people how to raise chickens from hatching to the plate on my website, through my movie Permaculture Chickens, which I'm gonna give that away this weekend.
