Chapters

My other dad died. I wouldn't be here, so to speak, had not Stephen Meeks taken me under his wing as his spiritual son. I looked at him like he was my spiritual daddy. He is— was my children's godfather. First, He was my very first farm mentor. He gave me the book by Joel Salatin, Salad Bar Beef. That was my introduction to Joel. It introduced me to regenerative grazing, proper animal husbandry, healing and improving of the land, and eventually led to my relationship with Joel, who is now my farm mentor and friend. Got me on that right path that then led me to permaculture and then this permaculture homesteading. It's why this land will be a better place for my grandchildren. It eventually led to career in this content creation— more on that in a second— another book he gave me that enabled this lifestyle and have impacted so many of you all.
