My Teens Finished their Cabin

In this family vlog, the narrator follows a group of teens (the boys) as they work on completing a small, crooked cabin. The video documents the sequence of construction tasks—chinking the walls, framing and installing the floor, fitting a window, installing a wood stove, and building bunk beds—while interspersing side activities such as planting broccoli, scouting a fire‑safe campsite, and gathering firewood. The narrator asks the teens about obstacles (primarily chinking) and tracks their progress against a self‑set timeline, noting that they are ahead of schedule. Throughout, the tone is supportive and motivational, celebrating the teens’ teamwork, problem‑solving, and the unexpected speed of their work. The video ends with a reflection on aiming for the impossible and the satisfaction of achieving extraordinary results.

Today the boys are working on the crooked cabin. They have ambitious goals. Aim for the impossible, extraordinary things will happen. They're going to chink. Is it going as good as you thought it was going? Yeah. Chinking is probably the time suck. And so you think it's the most boring? Yes. They're gonna chink it, they're going to floor it, they're going to put a window in, they're going to put a stove in, and if that's not enough, they're going to put bunk beds in and hopefully be sleeping in this by tonight. Let's cheer them on. What do you think the biggest obstacle is going to be? I think getting this chinking done. What's the biggest thing standing between you and sleeping in here tonight? Probably doing this. You guys are almost halfway there. As soon as you get this wall, as soon as he gets the front— this is going to take a lot of mud right there, that gap. What happened there? Uh, we didn't line this log up, so— meanwhile, Rebecca's planting seeds. What you planting, beautiful one? Planting broccoli. So this is a tick-down timer for me. We have 4 weeks to get the broccoli bed ready, right? Yep. Henry's just nearby playing. Hopefully Lily will be all support and make you a nice lunch. You're gonna cook your own supper? What's on your menu tonight for your supper? Potatoes and pork tenderloin. Nice. Cast iron on the— on the stove inside. Yep. In the meantime, we're scouting out back up. Okay, we'll do that. Billie's gonna get a lesson on the four-wheeler. We are, uh, looking for their next— what, where are you going? We need to go to the Two Acres. Their next video idea inspired by Outdoor Boys: sleeping outside without a tent or a sleeping bag in the cold. We're looking for a tree stump near the open because we're gonna have to have a big fire near it, so we want to be safe. Look at this. And really safe too. Open field, fire's not going to get away. It's huge. They sleep right next to the wood. They have a fire here. They'll probably— they'll need to dig this out. I was gonna say, there's not a whole lot of fallen debris nearby. There you go, there's their firewood. And that's been drying since Hurricane Helene. This is the spot. The dirt is like insulation. Isolation. Yeah, yeah, that's the, that's the point. They're gonna have a sleeping bag or a tent. What about a mattress? Nope, I think I sleep on logs or the ground. I think hay would be better. Okay, but they have to get it off the land. Maybe that type of bush. They could use leaves too, like those leaves right there. Yeah, branches. Yeah, take a picture for them and see what they think. Plus one. Little farmer in training. Kind of looks like you got some help. Yeah, is that cheating? No, I don't think so. This is Henry's kind of job, dude. Yeah, don't take all that mud, Henry. Oh, where? It's massive. Where? That's in Big Daddy's yard. Oh, that's good. Look behind it, it's got a ton of brush. It's got a ton of brush you can saw it and use for your fire. Yeah, that better go. You know where that is too? So above this is all grass, it would be completely safe. I have a water source there. The fire gets spread. They're ahead of schedule. 11:15, they have done the chinking. Took maybe about what I thought it might take them. I was hoping they'd finish more towards 11. Jonah didn't think he'd finish till 12, so we're doing better than they expected. Okay, what next? Oh, we're gonna get wood. Okay, the floor will probably be the biggest hang-up, I would say. They've got to frame it somewhat level, and then they've got to put boards down on top. The framing will probably be the trickiest, and they should go, but if they've taught me anything, it's taught me to be confident in them. Lunch break. They have started on the floor. I think it seems like a reasonable plan, and I think they'll get it done in reasonable time. Just getting hugs. Just for no reason, right? About to go back to work. Hugs. Because I just planted a bunch of stuff. Thousands of seeds and 500 broccoli. Why? No, no, I didn't plant 500 broccoli. You know who it comes down to? Cutting it all off and cleaning up every single stem. It is after lunch. They have a floor joist. What happened there? Hey, you're gonna piece together a cracked one? Oh yeah, that's good. Way to use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without. They got a window in. They got a window in a building. These kids, they never cease to amaze me. And it's only, what, 2 o'clock? They're way ahead of where I thought they might be at this time. You're gonna have a leisure evening. Yep, at this rate. Unless that bunk bed stumps you, and then maybe we have any surprises with the wood stove. Let's see in here. You can see out. It's actually so much brighter in here. Hey, inspector's here. What do you think? You won't believe how far they are. Inspector's here. I can't believe it. You guys, who's sleeping on the top? Just us. Are we sure? Yes. Will that hold them? Oh yeah. Yeah, this is gonna hold. Normally there's a board here and then you put those on top of it. Yeah. But we screwed each one in. We screwed each one in with screws. They go sleep in it how many times? Lots. There's a little window. This is cool. Well, the boys did it and they have time to spare before supper. Once again, yep, blew my expectations out of the water. Did you even expect to be done this early? I thought it was an impossible task. Yeah, I thought it was gonna do this. That's why it pays to aim for the impossible, because sometimes it happens. You might not think it's possible, but it may be. And if it's not, you still have done extraordinary things because you've aimed high. Good job, bud. Happy day.
