One of his Sheep DIED already (friend)

The video is a casual homestead vlog in which the host (Speaker A) and his helper Josiah walk through a day of farm chores on their property. They start by handling frozen tea and a butter knife, then discuss protecting their winter cover crops (Agribond) from a recent frost and checking on newly transplanted seedlings. The conversation shifts to lamb care, noting a friend’s recent lamb loss and sharing observations that lambs can be finicky but their own are thriving, feeding them alfalfa pellets and abundant hay. Josiah and the host build a small wooden lighthouse for play, discuss its non‑functional door, and later construct temporary fencing to safeguard asparagus beds, describing their planting method (broadforking, mulching, weed suppression). They tend to chickens, noting a broody hen and handling eggs, and then move a herd of cows using a cross‑fence, describing the process and the cows’ familiarity with fresh grass. Throughout, the tone remains informal, instructional, and enthusiastic, mixing practical farm advice with light‑hearted banter and personal reflections on homesteading challenges.

What is this, the sword in the stone? The butter knife in the icicle? What is it, Josiah?
Tea.
It's frozen tea? Mm-hmm. Oh, shoot. Whoops. Let it melt a little bit, Josiah. I didn't mean to pull the knife out. I'm sorry, trying to get that to go out. Hey, what I want to do here is let's just take the weights off of this side and fold this over there because we might need to use it again. Jack Frost came to visit us last night, and thankfully we knew he was coming, so we put out our Agribond cover crop. They were protected, Ken. They were protected. Good job. Sea monsters are jamming. No more. We've had one more die, but few and far between this time. Undo this and hold it over towards you. It looks like everything was protected in there. These were the things we just transplanted yesterday. You know, they got mushed down a little bit, maybe this one, but look, that one's still perky, that one too. And they're so small, they're gonna bounce right back.
Is there, uh-oh, is there wood in there?
Is there a bear in the woods?
Yeah.
Do you see one? Well, no, I don't think there's a bear in the woods.
Yes, they are.
Okay, well, let's watch out for them. Okay, wait, you're gonna get— you're gonna catch one and ride it?
Yeah.
A bear?
No.
Oh, what?
A lamb.
Oh, a lamb. Oh, go turn their light on. And they're all here. They're all here and healthy.
No, get in, get in!
What's the matter? Why'd you pour it on the ground?
I was gonna pour out this stuff.
Okay, pick it up.
He poured it all right in that mound. Okay, don't die, donut. Move it.
Here's what we'll do. Let's pick that up and go get some chickens. We don't want them— hold on. We don't want them to get any of their poop. Get in. Yesterday, an old friend contacted me wondering how we were doing. He's into homesteading too. He He got lambs for the first time this year too, and I said, how's it going? One has died for him. So just a reminder, I've been told lambs can be finicky, they can get sickly, but these guys are doing good so far. Maybe those were younger, maybe it's different breed, I don't know. Every day I just hope nothing happens.
We got the alfalfa pellets, we brought them here, then we poured them in.
All right, go ahead, buddy. Drop it in. Yeah, look, they're coming. They're coming quicker and quicker every day. Look at that.
Papa's getting— gonna get on one?
Not today, that's for sure. Okay, let's get this. Hey, that's just the most hay I've seen them eat.
There you go.
How's that? Spread it open for her a little bit like that.
And then we stand around and, um, wash them. I went to pet one and it didn't run away.
Oh wow, look! Wow, that's a first, petting it and him not running.
The reason I wanted to pet one is to train it.
What do you see? Hey, empty it some for Mr. Brown. What are you guys doing?
We're getting him a little bed.
Are you not cold?
No.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, what did you build?
A lighthouse. But look, the door even opens.
A lighthouse?
Yeah, come look.
Does it actually light up?
No, but I wish it did.
Hey, where'd you get these trays?
I just found them.
Oh, so you can find them when we need to, when you need to, huh?
Oh yeah, I guess.
Okay, nice door. You put it on a hinge.
Oh wow, those don't hurt when you're opening it in there. So But you don't have to worry about getting hurt. Okay, the person's in there.
Check on the sea monsters this afternoon. All is good. You guys finally quit shoving it in. Looks like they've taken a small break from eating.
When are you gonna put them out in the field?
Very soon. Well, actually, in about 2 weeks. Let's call that 35.5. This is what I like about building or creating or making movies, is it all starts in your head with an idea. You sort of put it on paper, it looks ugly now, but this is going to be a pretty neat mineral system that I've not seen out there before. It's mobile, it's got 6 units. Durable. It's minimal build. You're just building the sled. I think it's gonna be good. Next time we go into town, we'll get— we've got our list of supplies. I just realized we can't bring them this far unless we figure out a way to to protect this asparagus. Here, we'll just put a— we'll put another fence around it.
Wow, the asparagus hasn't even come up.
I think you're wrong. Oh my gosh, look, there it is, Jonah! Yeah, asparagus! Oh my gosh, look, more, more, more! It's all over the place, Jonah.
Yeah, but frost didn't get them.
But we definitely have to protect that. All right, let's get our fence up real quick. Hey, will you go get me a hammer? You're awesome, man. You're awesome.
You want to bend it back?
Yeah, I can. Yeah, it's going past the spring. We have our temporary fence across before we go get that other fence line. You know the story on this? Gideon. Well, you're quick to throw him under the bus.
No, I know he did it because I saw him doing it.
All right, let's, let's pick it up. What do you think, honey?
They're really little, but they're great.
Aren't they awesome?
Yeah.
Now they'll grow to be, what, 4 or 5 feet tall? Um, you know, I doubted myself building this.
Really?
Yeah, I doubted myself heavy. That's funny. But I shouldn't have, huh? I did it just right. It's because I modified instructions offline. You know, I've never planted asparagus before. But I wanted to do it the— I wanted to do it with mulch and weed suppress. I didn't weed or nothing, Rebecca. We just broadforked, dug a trench, put dirt back in it, and covered it up.
Some areas have been really good, like this.
These two, yeah, awesome. We'll give it some time.
Now look, the asparagus came up over here.
I know. What's up with that?
I think that's a 2-lane egg.
Yeah, 3 eggs.
Yeah, well, there's— I think there's a broody hen.
We're gonna have to get her. What's the hay for? A nest cushion? Oh honey, honey, honey, we need a lot more hay than that. I know. Is your farming shoes back? Your feet claustrophobic? Yes, they are. Oh, she growling.
Let me get a stick.
Why are you getting a stick? Here, I'll get her out. Let's get her out. Are you afraid she's broody?
Yeah, she is broody. She pecked me before and it hurts bad.
A little bit more. Do you want to turn that camera off, please?
Watch this.
Go for it. Oh my, what are you gonna do, hotshot? Oh, oh, you want me to show y'all how it's done? All right, enough fun, back to work. Let's put up our cross fence for this evening's cow move. We're having to go way out there to get our cross fence. Wait a minute, where'd you find those?
Those are awesome, just in the field. You can get them for you. I can wash them off in the creek and come up for Anna and bake. Making our breakfasts if you want it.
You want to make those for breakfast?
Sure.
Okay, bring them in. We'll cut—
I did put them on the road though, and the skin did get peeled off.
Just wash them. Okay, it's time to move the cows. It's gonna be a tricky one because we're taking them from this field to the next. We don't do that with Stud Muffin very often. Come on, good boy. Hey, okay. Come on, let's go. Just back up, back up. I keep pushing her through. Now everybody back up, stay where you're at. They know I'm giving them fresh grass every day. There you go, man. That went really well. I think it's because they're getting used to the move. They know when I come out there in the afternoon, they're gonna get fresh grass, and they love it. So they just find— so they just try to find what I'm trying to give them. The lighthouse has developed some. Yeah, you now have it on a platform. Oh my word, do you actually have it lit up?
Okay, get in there and show what you guys do in there.
Okay, go in there and show us what you do. Talking to it, Josiah. Um, say mayday, mayday, mayday. You're too close, you're too close, you're too close.
Jump to you.
Jump to me, of course.
No, don't follow.
I won't drop you. Okay, ready?
Let's go.
Farther? Okay, come on.
