Permaculture teaches us something called zoning. House is zone 0. Zone 1 is right side of our house. Have a kitchen garden, a chicken run. That's zone 1. The lower the zone— zone 1— the things you would visit most frequently. We pass this area the most. What would go in zone 1? What would you visit very frequently? Well, kitchen garden, kitchen garden, kitchen garden, kitchen garden. Those are like cut-and-go type of a garden. You want to put lettuce in here, cucumbers, tomatoes. Next to that, chickens. You know how You figure out what should be closer. Figure out how many times you visit a day. If you let out chickens once and then you put them up, before you know it, it's over 700 visits in a year. I think if the beautiful one would let me, I would put the chickens right outside our kitchen window. Where to put chickens? As close as socially acceptable to your front door.
