Let's see if training this morning lowered my ever morning spiking blood sugar. I'm good, look, 102. I just went up to the 120 line. Probably the training got it back down. Water got in my phone. Water did? Yeah. How recent? Just today. For what it's worth, this really isn't a phone. This is an audiobook device. What book you listening to these days? Ramona. Ramona Quimby, The Patient. Last night we had a little family Super Bowl party for the first time. I think it might have been the first time I had my kids watch football. Went to bed at halftime, 8:30. We were pulling for the 49ers because our friend is pulling for the 49ers. They were ahead when I went to bed. Yeah. Did you stay up and watch it? Who won? First and goal, Mahomes flings. It's there! Hartman! Jackpot, Kansas City! You stayed to the end? Why didn't you just go to bed? I couldn't. They talked me into them staying up late last night because going through the day today, expect a good amount of rain. We're gonna see some on and off showers. It's raining today. Insulators are supposed to come back today, so it's going to be a fumy lawn mess inside the holler house. That drastically limits our projects. We can do a Habitat on there. Oh, if we go to Mom's town? Yeah. You like that idea? Mm-hmm. About the blood sugar, lesson learned. Saturdays and Sundays when I don't train, I need to get up and move. So I need to get up and go on a little walk or something. Otherwise it spikes and it's hard to Bring it back down. We've only got 40 minutes to do the chores before we leave for town day. Last night Rebecca was awake for 4 hours. I'm battling high blood sugar, probably from chronic inflammation, chronic pain, my Lyme disease and its co-infections. Welcome to another day in the life of some homesteaders homesteading to heal ourselves at this point. Hey, you night owl! This is gonna be very important to our health. It's probably one of the big causes of Rebecca's anxiety right now. Insulation is here. I'm keeping my fumes because it is toxic. They're in like hazmat. The siding guys are here. If you don't know, we're doing a homestead house remodel. There's a marked time of us moving from the house that we loved across the street, which we're very thankful for, a cabin on the property. We move into that cabin And I think we both— well, I certainly went through a funk. I think she's going through a funk. What are you doing? All right, why? Because I can get it out of the way. This wasn't here, so don't think I'm an idiot. You'll see what I'm talking about in a second. Yesterday I did way too many back and forths to the chickens. You know, it doesn't seem very far. This was me yesterday. I got food. I came back with the water. I came back with the full water. Did I come out with the eggs? Let's just say I came out to get hay and then had to come back and get the eggs and go do something with that. That'll drive a person crazy. I got Henry cart in place for today, determined to make one trip there and one trip back. Let's see if we can make it happen. There's the crushed shells. Oh, grab, grab some hay. If we health nuts are growing these eggs for our health and that's our end result, there's so much a process We had better learn to enjoy the process. That means smoothifying. Bring your egg basket just in case. Back it up so I can get in. Thank you. Let me set the people up. If Henry cart is hack number one— well, that's actually a grill cart. We call it Henry cart, uh, the hollers had a hang and we didn't want to copy copy, so we called it Henry cart. And then we had a baby named Henry, so don't be confused. Did somebody already feed them? Well, that helps to communicate. She watered them too. Oh my gosh, gorilla cart is hack number one. I didn't even need to bring this. I could have switched this out. This is hack number two, just bringing a second vacuum fill waterer. I'm gonna save this one for tomorrow since Lily already got it, but Hey, Jordan's sheetrock. I got it done. Yay! That means a Thursday delivery for next Monday. Sheetrock begins. Look at this. Y'all going to town with us? Is it a family day in the town day? Hey, how you feeling today after that 5-mile walk yesterday? We are going to walk over the mountain to our friend's house. How was your restore this morning? I guess you're healed from your hip replacement. Huh? Yeah. Look who it is! Oh, oh, oh, hey! How was your trip? Oh, it was pretty well tremendous. Oh good, oh good. How was, uh, Mickey Mouse? Oh, Mickey was doing pretty good. They're siding and insulating right now, so hopefully you can find something to do. Rebecca just got something off of Facebook Marketplace. Is that still available? Yeah, it's right— yeah, still available. Okay, all right. What is it? It's a wine that I wanted to get. How much? It was $100. Lag bolts for the mineral feeder. I don't think the Home Depot guys dropped some off. I believe Rebecca is getting some sheetrock so she can do sample painting to figure out what kind of paint we want on the inside of our homestead house remodel. We buy the thickest piece of PVC piping here for a rocket for the airsoft field. Sure. You know, Mom and I had been using town day as kind of a little micro date for her and I. That's good and all, but the kids happened to come last week. We had a good time with them and And I've been thinking— These guys are ever growing up. There may be a season for alone dates. What? I'm gonna paint it with the trim's gonna be painted. Beauty just needs a sampler of sheetrock so she can try out the different paints. All else fails, we get this, but it's a little janky. Hey, do you want to just buy a piece of sheetrock and break it in half? Well, how sheetrock would you say? Yeah, but you want to do this sooner than that, right? Well, when's he gonna start putting sheetrock up? Monday. You could wait till mid-next week. That's fine. I got my paintbrush. Trying to think of what else I need. Grand finale! Gideon asked me if he could buy Henry a truck, and I said— for his birthday, you know, it's like in 11 days. He said no, just because Henry's so good to me. It's time to make dinner. Our favorite night, burger night!
