I went to a new doctor and she did some tests and they came back not normal levels, so she's doing more testing.
It's on your liver.
On my liver.
Okay.
And um—
Good morning. Good morning. No, don't jump. Don't jump. Good. Good. Good. Let's give you some attention. Let's give her some attention. Just like a chick, just like a person, you need some attention. Today there are no kids. They have gone to Grandma's. Yes, we've gotten some rest. Rebecca's kind of having a relapse and is not feeling that great. So that's why I'm late this morning. Just been in there talking with her. We ended up having to cancel our vacation. Yeah, so she's starting to She's starting— her heart's racing again and she's having more anxiety, some panic attacks. And so— So this morning since Jonah's not here, I need to do the chores before I go on my walk. I should maybe take the buckets. Come on, Laurel. You've got some extra energy. Come on. They're not bad. Some of those are not bad. So it's crazy how the roof— the fruit is still ripening and there ain't no leaf on this thing, man. That's a big old guinea squat. Yes, this is one way John gets the bag open. This gets the job done. You got to give it to him for that. Look, what are you doing in there? What are you doing in there, Royal? You getting in there? How you doing this morning, huh? How you doing? No, you can't have Royal. Let's take this up to the kitchen garden chickens. The kids really make a difference, especially at morning and evening chore times. The kids putting the the chickens up at night. There's 3 chicken operations here, y'all: Kitchen Garden Chickens, Pasture Chickens, and Miracle Garden Chickens. Now, the Everflow waterer— I'm actually getting some good suggestions on that in the comment. There are 2 that I think are worth exploring. Let's rinse this out. We got plenty of flow coming down the mountain. Problem is we don't have as much gravity going down out of the trough. One person said you need a bigger outlet pipe. That'd be worth a try. That'd actually be the easiest thing to try, I think. Like, uh, we're on half inch, so I wonder if we've we could even get a pipe that just fit that big old outlet right there. Maybe worth a try. The next thing would be is a tub. What am I looking for? I'm getting the feed here. Why are these guys— have you noticed the garden chickens are more anxious to get out than the Icelandics? You want in on that, guinea clowns? Here. They're so dumb they don't even see that I threw that over there. Oh, one sees it. Okay, y'all happy? Y'all good? You're really knocking this out. You're gonna be done in a week or two. So if we get a pipe bigger than this out, maybe about this size, we could get one of these with a bigger setting. I don't know, would the big pipe fill up somewhere in there and then slow it down? I don't know. I guess the chances are less because it's big. The other option would be get a tub. I did a tub before and had more success, and it was this tall. I would want to get one a little bit taller, as tall as I could, but the chickens and pigs could still get in it. In the inlet valve, I would do something different than I did last time. Last time I had the inlet here up top and the outlet up top. But I should get it to where the outlet's up top, fills this up, and then we drain at the bottom, and it drains at such a speed that this stays full. And so that when we have freezing events, it just freezes the top and it can still drain. Is anybody else laying awake at night trying to figure out this overflow water? Someone said in the comments the downward drain is siphoning as long as there's no air going through it. Once it gets empty enough and there's air, we've lost our speed of siphon. That sort of makes sense because it does, it does drain out fast at first and then it slows down drastically. Somebody has suspended a teddy bear in the air. Let you guys out. Listen, they didn't even need water, so I'm gonna leave that there. This is what I'd like to do today— the meat shawl. The handles need to be fixed, and then basically I need to tear it down, put it back together, take pictures, make notes step by step, create plans for my permaculture chickens, folks. Laurel? Oh yes, you did get a hold of it. She likes to tie them really tight. She totally snapped it right there at the very end. She tied it so tight it might work for a little while. Come on, let's get that energy out. I'm done. I'll have to admit, I still feel like I'm burning daylight when I exercise in the daylight. I know it's good for me, but it's just ingrained to me. My dad used to tell me, don't burn daylight, and I know he didn't mean— I know he meant running's okay, but it's just, ah, sometimes I don't feel like I'm working, but I am. Just have to train myself to that.
So I went to a new doctor and She did some tests and they came back not normal levels, so she's doing more testing.
It's on your liver?
On my liver.
Okay.
And, um, we're gonna see what's going on with it. And my anxiety is back. I'm not sure if it's the time of year because this is when my anxiety started last year. Or if it's because I'm scared. Or what. I just don't know why, but it's back and I'm having panic attacks again. Mainly at night, like I was last time. And we're doing other testing as well with other things to see. There's other things going on. So yeah, I feel like I'm back to square one almost.
When are those tests? When are you gonna know more?
I'm not really sure. Maybe next week. Maybe the week after that. Thanksgiving's next week.
So you have a test—
I had it. I had testing last week and then I had testing again this week, more blood tests this week. I have an ultrasound next Tuesday.
Okay.
And then I'm also doing a saliva test tomorrow.
Okay.
And then we'll know the next week after that.
Okay.
And so, um, hopefully I'm gonna start sleeping again and I'm gonna not have panic attacks again.
What are you gonna do to get sleeping again in the interim? I'm going— I—
she took me off all my herbal supplements to see if that had any change.
Was there any change in your liver on that?
Um, not really. I— but I wonder if a lot of what's going on my liver is stress too. Because I feel stressed about—
Yeah.
Like, I didn't— I was feeling pretty good until she told me about my abnormal test.
Yeah.
Then I started having pain again. And then when we decided to cancel vacation last night, my pain went away. And I've had a little pain this morning, but it's not been It's not been horrible. It's never been horrible pain. It's just more of a nagging, dull pain. It hasn't been going on for long. I'm just glad that I went in and got it checked out. If there is something wrong, she said it could be reversible depending on what it is, so I'm just— I'm sad because I feel like I'm starting over again. And I'm just wondering why November. Because my first panic attack that I ever had was November 17th.
Yeah.
And so that's this Saturday. And I hadn't had panic attacks in a really long time until like last week. And then now it's all back again. And I'm just like, why is it this time of year? So, there's just lots to do. I'm doing a lot of work on my, like, emotions and stuff like that too. I'm doing emotional work.
Yeah.
To help with anxiety. But yeah, I was doing so good. Hence why we planned a 2-week vacation.
Yeah. Canceling the vacation?
Yeah, cancel vacation.
I think we should cancel looking at goats.
Yeah.
We were gonna get goats to clear pasture for the cows.
But do you— but I mean, should we? I don't know. I don't— it's hard because the doctor said this could just be a real small blip in my health, health health. Like, wow, she's concerned, but that's why she's investigating it further. Yeah, she's not saying that it's this horrible health issue that I'm gonna have. She just wants to know why my numbers are the way they are. So, so I feel like even like canceling the vacation was really hard on me because what happens if I feel great in 2 weeks?
Yeah, there's that.
What happens if she figures out what this is and we adjust whatever needs to be adjusted and then I'm like back to feeling great again, you know?
Mm-hmm.
But maybe we should think about getting goats maybe in March or something when stuff is coming back into bloom. Because will they eat it down? Like, because don't they just eat the leaves off of the stuff too? Doesn't it have to be like—
Yeah, see, we don't know enough to be going and getting devil eyes right now.
Yeah.
And here's the thing, you're the one who researches and calls the people.
Yeah.
I'm having to pick that up with the pigs because they, they won't be happening until February.
Right.
And I can do that, but I don't have the time capacity.
I know. To be picking up the phone and calling and analyzing. You're having to pick up my stuff that I can't do right now.
Yeah, so there will be no getting goats because you simply can't shop and get on the phone, look for them, research.
Yeah, it's probably best that we don't. I'm like, I want to because I want a clear I want to—
Yeah, I mean, that's one of the very first things you should do when breaking into a homestead is get the pastures cleared.
But also though, the pigs can do— I mean, Hand Hewn Farm uses pigs.
Yeah.
Instead of goats.
That's true.
But then there's Spiral Ridge Farm. Spiral Ridge Permaculture or whatever they're called. Spiral Ridge. They use pigs and goats.
I know, but I did think he— I do think he got rid of his goats.
Yeah, I think he— which, by the way, you should see if he has any feeders. Oh yeah, he does all sorts of crosses and he makes like really nice pork. Like, that's like— he goes and gets— he goes and gets stock from all over because of certain, uh, qualities that the breed has, and then he crosses all of them. They're like 4 or 5 cross.
I'll ask him.
Yeah, I had that thought the other day and he's closer and we can go visit my friend Ashley.
Fun. Oh, now you're out and visiting people, huh?
Well—
You feeling better soon?
It's daylight.
Okay. Oh yeah, it's at night.
I get anxious at night when it gets dark and it gets dark so early. So it's really hard.
All right. Now it's 9:30. It's time for me to make breakfast. I've got it cleaned up. Now to my happy place. I think that's one of the reasons we've been pretty successful with the vlogs is because I actually like it. I actually like the filming process, the storytelling, and even the editing. I finished. Now Rebecca's checking it. I plan on documenting and updating you guys.
Is it supposed to just say Wednesdays?
Yep. Just watch it. On his progress with the cancer, but mostly I'm wanting it to be a celebration of life. How often do you have to take medicine? That one, every 8 hours. Came from? The first Wednesdays with Willard.
Yep, I like it.
It was good? What was good about it?
It was just good learning more about his life, and he had that keychain for 30 years.
30 years, and it doesn't work for him.
Nope, doesn't work. Slow me down, Lord, slow me down.
Doesn't even obey it. He's still got the keychain though. He switched it how many times? How many cars? How many cars has he been through to switch that keychain over?
Well, there was a Suburban. He's had that white truck. He had the blue car. All right, it's uploading.
While it's uploading, let's go get some work done.
