Staycation day one! Quick, go do the chores! Quick, go do the chores! I did the chores. Isn't that weird? Have the day off on our own farm. Vacation. Vacation to the greatest place on earth.
Gideon is doing it.
Yeah, Gideon's going.
When I was brushing my teeth last night, I was like, this is like I'm in a quaint little Airbnb on someone else's homestead.
That's a way to think about it. What a nice homestead these people have.
I know, isn't it so nice?
This house feels historic. Like it's 100 years old or something. A lot of stories in this house. I've been living here for 4 months.
It would be nice just for a week to stay in here.
Yeah, quaint little farmhouse.
Well, it's just nice because we didn't have to really pack.
Not one swimming feature, but two. But is 79 degrees too cold? No, we're in the greatest place on earth. Isn't it cool to be in a place that you really don't have to leave to go on vacation? People come from all over to come on vacation. Hour and a half through the mountains. I think—
The kids are sick.
I think Henry's getting carsick. Hang in there, Henry. 2 minutes. Look at this. This is the trick. Go the week that everybody goes back to school. Go on vacation in your own hometown. Man, y'all ready to go, huh? They're making lunch. Let me show you this. Not one other soul here. Not one other besides us. It is on the hair chilly side, just a hair, just a little hair. We're in the shade, but soon we're gonna be in the sun. Cucumber sandwich.
Only thing that's missing is toasted.
Kind of hard to have that out here.
I like to toast the bread.
That's sour cream. Bread, salt, cream cheese. Cream cheese.
Sorry, Henry wants to go. You don't know how to get across, so swim across the deep end.
Are you able to climb up right here?
Nice.
Can you climb up that way?
Nice.
This looks kind of fun even though it's cold. Actually, the cold is appealing to me. Look how deep that is and clear. You can see all the way to the bottom. If I set the camera right here, you guys promise not to hit it and knock it into the water? Uh-huh.
All right, ready? The name of the game is to walk across Is it okay I'm this cold?
Yeah, I mean, don't be too— this cold too long. I want to set up a shot with this main camera right over there. That's the money shot. Now can we get over there without getting this camera wet? I think it's shallow right there. It looks shallow. I like this. This is very refreshing. This water, so cool and clear. This is healing waters. Oh, here's some— come, some, some cotubers. Okay, all right, all right, set up that right here. Set you guys up on this. How's that? That's the money shot. All right, let's do it right there. Ready? 1, 2, 3. This has been the highlight of my vacation so far. Yeah, just the highlight. It is. You sound like you're such a— sure beats that call to Amex on the way here. We saw on the way up here that Mount Mitchell, tallest mountain on the East Coast, was 29 miles away. That's closer than we're ever going to intentionally be. Don't you like the forest vibe? Don't you like the vibe the forest gives?
Yeah, we're forest bathing.
Yeah, why? Hanging bathing suits while we drive?
Well, if you're short.
All right.
Look at this baby.
Look at his little knees. He got scraped up on those rocks. He was trying to—
Just carry him. Just carry him on your chest. We are there. There you go.
That cloud looks like smoke.
is all cloud just right there. Third stop, you guessed it, another swimming hole. This is actually a favorite of the kids. Next up, a food truck park. We're going to visit our buddy Ben.
How are you? Hi, how are you?
We're pretty much groupies of Root Down Farm. At this point following them around. You can eat that whole burger? You can try, can't you? Josiah got 2 burgers. Jonah too. Lily, can you eat that whole burger?
Mm-hmm.
And my favorite part about staycation. We're in our own bed.
Happy day.
