This content was created by Victor Justin Rhodes. This content was uploaded by Victor Justin Rhodes. This is a YouTube vlog titled "Surpise Farm Babies | 1st Time Milking the New Cow + Jonah’s Recovery" (created 2022-09-22). The excerpt is an English farm-family vlog-style transcript featuring Jonah (recovering and using a wheelchair/brace) and a primary adult speaker (likely a parent or caregiver) plus other family members/children (Josiah, Lily, Teddy) performing chores: milking a cow for the first time, tending calves, lambing and a sow farrowing 11 piglets, moving animals, and discussing logistics and safety. The tone is informal and instructional, covering animal care, teamwork with kids, and Jonah’s recovery and desire to help with chores.

Are we getting you down then into the wheelchair?
Yeah, I'm not going to ride the wheelchair down that ramp. I may end up going to walk.
We move the cows and sheep every day, and after the sheep move out, we mow. Mowing is like one of the most natural fertilizers you can do. It chops up the grass. We have a mulch blade on it, so it chops it up super fine and it breaks down faster and just feeds the soil. It also equalizes everything, knocks over any weeds the cows or the sheep left behind. And it just so happens that grass edibles— grass grow back faster than that stuff, and it just further increases the productivity of our land. All right, cowboy, how do I do this?
Uh, separate the calves better so I can do it.
Yeah, I know, right? I wish I could. Well, get better, bro.
You go to the joint and you open it in, and then the sheep don't feel like they can go out of it.
That makes sense.
The two older calves, they will go in together.
With the calves separated from the mamas, milk stores up overnight, and that's our milk.
1.9 was the highest. It says that it's— it's— you might need to go turn it off. Here's the problem right here. My shirt's off. This, this is a bad post. I know, I think I'm gonna try to find a wheelchair bucket. You just—
they buy you—
they— I'm sure they make them on Amazon. I think they do. They make everything. Stop it.
Teddy's about to go with our babysitter for 2 weeks, just the doctor recommendation. He can't be knocking into Jonah. Here, test it, Mom. Just run his wheelchair.
Okay, that'll protect I'll just put that little thing right here.
You can still holler, right? You still got sensitivity in that foot, right? Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Shock his whole body, it would be terrible.
I hear it this time. 3.4.
That's better.
3.5. I think it's good enough. We're putting them up late. We'll also milk them early. And that way hopefully they don't bust through that fence to their moms. Teddy is not the best farm dog, far from it, but still gonna miss the little guy.
Okay.
Had intentions to get up early to milk these cows before the calves get to them, but look who got out of bed this morning himself. Good job, buddy. How you feeling?
Okay, just uncomfortable in a huge brace.
The bellowing means the calves are still separated. Ellie's calling me.
I need you to open the water. I don't know what, but I just can't get it open.
Is that on there Hercules?
The pig had her babies. Oh my gosh, it looks like a lot.
Are they all okay?
I didn't count. As soon as I saw them, I came back to get you.
What's Beefcake doing?
He's eating right now.
Okay, yeah, we was hoping to get him separated because we need to feed her basically all she can eat, and he needs to stay on ration. He'll take it if we don't. Looks like they're still separated. Lily, you come help us milk and then we'll help you, okay? Hey, Duke, why aren't you— why aren't you just opening the door? It's hard. Somebody else had some babies too. A lamb— a sheep had her babies. What is up with that? How can you tell? That's great. Stay right where we are. I like you between— you between the fence and the calf.
I held a baby pig.
You did? How many we get?
Uh, she gave 12, but one died.
That's incredible. First farrowing. But the question is, she's taking care of the 11? She letting them nurse?
I don't know.
I didn't see that.
Oh well, she's eating.
Okay, well, we'll hope she takes care of them. Nope, nope, you go around this way. There you go. First time milking. That's a 2-gallon bucket. I reckon that's a gallon and a half of milk. I noticed it was super creamy.
Can I name the sheep?
Absolutely.
The one with the black face can be Bambi.
Okay.
And then the one with the spots on her face, see that one right there? She can be Spot. And then the one with the darker spots can be, um, Dirty knees.
Dirtiness.
Yeah, cuz it has dirty knees. Okay, we need to get the water. We need to fill the water up. That's good.
Are we getting hay up to your lambs up top?
Yeah.
Do they need it? They're out of food up there?
Well, no, but they like hay.
Okay, let's go look. Wow.
Whoa.
They've eaten this down big time. Sheep. Sheep.
I'm gonna snap all the branches down so that she.
Sheep, sheep, sheep, sheep, sheep. Let's get everybody together so they're not stressed out. Oh, Vicenta, can I give her some alfalfa? Who is that, Ryder?
That's Pete. This is Ryder, Pete, and Peter.
Look at the lamb, Henry.
It's okay, Pete.
How can you tell them apart?
This one's a little bit bigger. They're both boys. If this was a girl, I would name Pete Penelope and Peter.
Do you hear it bleat?
There, it was me. It was my sheepie.
Bee!
Henry, look! You want your mommy?
You guys want to go look at the piglets now? Yeah, you want to go see the piglets? Hang tight, Henry, we're going to see piglets now. Oh my word, really? You good stinking mama!
Look at that tiny itsy bitsy one.
Josiah, good job getting her some hay. Oh, she's hungry. I did bring some feed. Hey, you got a quiet one.
I think it's the runt. Ah, it's the smallest.
Beefcakes. Let's feed them, distract the adults.
That's the biggest one. This is the biggest one. Really? But that tiny— the one next to him is the runt. This is the baddest. Big one? Any of these pigs will grow up to be as big as Beefcake. Funny, but they're all so tiny.
Get back in there. That's amazing. Her first litter, 12, and 11 made it. That's incredible. We have these little piggies. They're relatively immobile. I say we get Beefcake and the other pig over there and the piglets, and we bring the piglets over here and we'll have an all-you-can-eat feed. Why not?
Those piglets will not go over, but I mean, we'll carry them over. The tiny one? No, we could carry the tiny ones over. And that mama would follow them while they're eating.
Hmm, afraid that mama will be— I pray that mom will be after us if we do that. Little squeal. What if we let the pigs over, the two little pigs, and then we led Beefcake and the big pig back over? They'll go, won't they?
It broke every single bone.
You think it's a better idea? To grab all the piglets and take them over? What would we put the piglets in?
Just on the ground until we got all the hay over.
But how are we going to carry all the pigs at once? What are we going to carry them in?
Just grab them.
We can't carry them all at once because she'll have piglets over there, she'll have piglets here. People will be confused. We could do Josiah's idea, but I'm a little nervous. I'm a little nervous about the mom. Here, let's get this feed while they have feed left. We're gonna need it. You're right, Josiah. I don't know how we'll get those two piglets over. I don't know if they'll just come anymore. I don't think they care about being with them anymore, do they? If we pick up the piglets like you said, I'll block mom. And you guys will box the piglets, and then she'll follow the piglets. I think, I think you had— you were on to something. Let's tweak it with a pig board and a box. Let's go get it. Hopefully these two piglets will stay down here. Josiah, we open this up really wide, we feed the big pigs, you guys grab the little piglets, I'll spot you with the pig board. Then you bring the piglets this way. Hopefully she follows, and you put the piglets in the nest. There's a lot that could go wrong with this. Oh, here she comes! That could be easy. Is that her, or is that Cupcake?
Oh, that's her! Look at her rear end!
Big, big, big, big, big, big pig! I got your spot. Here, here, here. Hey, hey, hey, watch out, watch out, Lily. Okay, she's respecting the board, she's respecting the board. It's going to work. She's going to follow them though. Wait. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Okay, all Josiah, come carry this. Come carry the piglets. Okay, good. She's looking for them. She's gonna follow that. Get in, get out of the way. Keep following. Come on, come on. Here she comes, here she comes. All right, go put them in the nest. Go put them in the nest. Get in. I decide— I'm glad you decided to help, buddy. Good job, good job, Josiah. Good job, Lily. Good job, Mama Pig. This is so satisfying. That went so smooth. Just to see the baby piglets out here in the woods and Mama getting all she can eat. Teamwork with the other kids. Good job, man. Proud of you. Feel good?
Yeah.
How's it going in here?
We're making it. How did it go out there?
Incredibly well. Did he tell you how many she had?
12 and one died.
Yeah, that's great. Yeah, 11 pigs, and she's caring for them too, so good.
She was bad.
Cupcake's a keeper. No, Pound Cake. Pound Cake, because she's all white. Mostly. And Cupcake, because she's got that black dot on the side of her belly. Journey, you still want to buy all the piglets? Yeah, she's talking about raising them and selling them as pork. I don't know, with the winter coming on, I don't know if we've got a place for them. So we got to get you better, bro.
Yeah.
What are you playing?
Some sort of like a thing. I'm just so bored. I don't really watch TV. See, it's a claw thing. Nice.
Take him a minute. Are you gonna come? Look at this guy, look at this guy, up and at 'em, walking around.
Let's do chores. Do chores.
Okay, ready?
You push me.
I'm doing the burnout. Where are you heading?
To the road.
You got it. Don't go further than the sign.
I'm going to town.
It's time. We're pulling up everything out of these raised beds.
You keep those, okay? Lift up everything else. Wow, all of this stuff.
What happened, my man?
I tried going off-road and I got stuck.
As we say goodbye to the folks, Jonah, and close out this vlog, what would you have to say?
When you ride a dirt bike, make sure to wear a lot of safety gear. It'll help you in the long run.
You're feeling precautious, huh?
Yeah.
Okay. Is it hard watching us do chores?
Yeah, I want to do them.
You'd rather be out there doing them than sitting here, huh? You don't enjoy the break?
No.
No break?
No, it's just— you get a break. Well, I just— it's just uncomfortable to brace.
Yeah.
All right, it's hard to enjoy it.
A lot of people out there loving on you, saying nice things, praying, giving you well wishes, thinking about you.
