Today, shh, it's secret. We're surprising our friends Amy and Arun. We're gonna build them a garden. They've told us they would like a garden, but admittedly they don't have a lot of room or time. That's where this comes in. Thank you, GreenStalk, for sending us one of these and Amy and Arun. It's kind of like gardening in a box. Yesterday we went to the local plant sale and got all these plant starts. Are you guys ready to do this? Yep. Get in. If you're gonna be out here with no shoes, you gotta at least take your socks off. Oh, fine. GreenStalk also sent us soil. This is super easy, and for anyone who wants a garden that doesn't have the land, space, or a lot of time, a perfect solution. Well, that's cool. I didn't know that. Made in Tennessee. Made America. And our neighbor Tennessee. Come on, boss, you ready?
Yeah, I'm ready.
Our idea is we want to put it together. We don't want to just like, okay, here's a, here's a box of labor.
That's right.
We want to go ahead and put it together and then move it over there. So Rebecca's idea is a box of plywood in the bottom of Bob. Uh-oh, we're going to figure out how to be able to get this off. That's jammed. Oh boy. And then we can go over there and kind of slide it out. Yeah. I know where a piece of plywood is. Where? Up in Africa. Would you go get us one?
No, I'm just kidding.
I need your help. Okay, I'm thinking it's not going to be putting the garden together, it's going to be all this. Getting all this. This is bent down in there. I can get a crowbar or a hammer or something and open that and get that out. All right, Jonah, let's grab this out of this. Let's grab the boards out. Come on, everybody help. Can you do that with the hammer? Let me try it. All right, I think I got it back. Oh yeah, yep. One less problem. Now for the fun part, unboxing. This looks like the base. I could be gentle. We're gonna figure out which one is for them and which one's for us. Guys, go ahead and get it all out and put it all separate so we can find it and piece it together according to the instructions. This is cool, they sent us some stickers. It looks like they sent us some seeds too.
Yes, they did. Fill and plant each planter.
Ah, you plant as you go. While she's doing that, let's see the goodies that are inside. The family, the family business. That's nice. The stickers. Look, that's cool. Ooh, Lily, you'll like that sticker. I like this. There you go, there's your pink. I like this sticker. And then a pack of green beans. That's cool, organic. And that is what it's gonna look like when we're done. How cool.
Hey, Papa, look. Yeah, I'm gonna borrow that sack.
What is it?
I don't know, it's like a piece of the inside.
Oh, it's parts. You want to go ahead and open that? I'm sure it's part of the build. The beautiful one said those are the plant supports. That's for like if you're gonna plant tomatoes or something crazy. My guess is those wheels go right on this. This is a roller. Dan, that's probably a good job for you and I. Oh, look what it is! Lift that up, lift that up.
And then do I screw it in?
Yeah, I think you just push it in. Yeah, you just push it in. Farmer Henry. Likes the nursing option, doesn't he?
He does.
He likes to go to sleep with the option always there. He does.
He doesn't like to— he doesn't like to be far from it.
You put it away, he'll wake up.
Just in case.
He's out. I like his little jeans.
I know, aren't they cute?
He got dressed up.
He did. I told him he got dressed today.
Here's our piece of plywood. We're gonna have to cut it a little too long, but it's perfect otherwise. This is cool. I just noticed this. They They give us a sticker. It's packed with care by Tom, inventor's son-in-law. That's cool, little touches. All right, we have our base. We've got two different green stocks here. One has got smaller compartments for smaller vegetables and one's for larger, but I'm pretty sure you can mix and match. That's cool. So we're going to mix and match. Jonah, go ahead and lock those wheels so that when we Bring the compartments over. We're gonna fill the compartments one at a time over there in the grass because I know we're gonna spill some dirt. You want to do 3 big ones on the bottom and 3 little ones on top? All right guys, let's do— let's get one going and then, uh, we'll knock it out. Failproof. We need a little more, don't you? Yeah, Lily's gonna try to hold it steady. Looks like one container takes about half a bag potting mix. Okay, Mom, show them which plants you want them to do. Are you doing like the big, like cucumbers and stuff on the bottom? Yeah, we chose cucumbers. There's a pack of 4 plus 2 more. Well, and maybe one zucchini.
I'm gonna get one of mine from in the garden, in my greenhouse.
This is the fun part. Do you know how to get those out? Yeah. No, just turn it upside down and you can kind of push it out.
Oh, can I plant?
Sure, everybody can plant some. Hey, push it down in there a little further, Johnna. It dries out the higher it is up. We got it! That part was easy. All we got to do is that times 6— 6 levels, and we'll take it over to the trailer and build it one at a time. Okay, let's set it right in this. Rebecca, do we water it as we go or at the end?
I think at the end.
Okay. We're done. We got the last one filled up. Mom's idea is to wait and put the last one on when we get over there because look, look how tall this is. Okay, so that's going to get a little dramatic moving it with the mower, but I did have the thought— oh, and we still have that one to put on it. So could we, could we put it in Henry? Because we want to have this nice presentation where like we're catching their reaction on film. It's not this loud mower. My question is, can I move this? They weren't really that heavy. And could I put it in Henry? Arun's supposed to be home in about, what, 10 minutes? Let's build it and wait for him and then, then present it. All right, let's put the other two guys— I think it's just going to be too tall to get over there. Maybe when we get up to the road we can put it on. But let's put the other two beside it. Look who's here! Now don't act like we're hiding anything, that he doesn't know what we're up to. He's here, Becky.
I know, it's good. Let's do it.
Okay, well, I couldn't fit those in here. I think we'll go surprise them with this, and then we'll give them a double surprise because we'll be like, oh wait, we got two more. Okay, what's the presentation idea, Becca? We're walking over there with a trailer cart full of plants. What's the idea? What are we going to tell them?
We're just going to walk over there and then knock on there and be like, surprise!
Okay, you guys going to hold it while I push?
Pull?
Lily's got the baby, he's happy in his shoulder. Do you guys have that or do you want me to do that part? All right, they're inside. We're going to sneak into the back, probably going to go— hold it steady, hold it steady. This company sent us this 6 plants in each thing. 4 layers. And what is— oh, this is— you just put on top? Yeah, it's a tower garden.
It's like a tower garden. It's called a GreenStalk. But surprise, it's yours.
It's for people with gardens this size.
Oh, right. We planted it all for you guys. Oh, thank you. You got cucumbers. Are these all the plants you got yesterday? Some of them. So, oh, this is spinach, and he said it won't bolt. Nice. And it, and it tastes— it's very mild, like, like it's a very mild spinach, but it won't bolt.
Yeah. Yay!
So this is an acorn squash, and then this one's acorn, and then these two are the snow peas, and then these are yellow squash, and then zucchini's around the corner.
So that's a squash They usually grow so much.
Yeah, well, there's— yeah, I have to take over this whole porch.
Yeah, it will be out to there.
It's gonna be like a jungle. It's gonna be a jungle.
Hey, looky here, guys, two more layers.
Oh my word, you guys! And then there's your dill.
Hey, you could technically just keep going vertically. Look at this, Azariah. Oh, what do you have going right here? Okay, that's from last year. Yeah, you just reseeded. You just— yeah, you see that? Okay, you got a little garden over there. Yeah, that's nice. This is really cool. They have this watering—
they have those.
You put it on like that, look, fill that up, and that waters the whole thing. That is so cool. So you just keep this filled? Yeah, keep going. You'd probably go all the way up to those lines. So he fills this up, it fills up those disc that we had in there, and it just waters this slowly. Oh, because every layer has a disc. Yeah. All right, you guys enjoy that.
Oh, we will.
Thank you. Happy growing.
