In this day‑in‑the‑life vlog, the creator walks viewers through a busy morning on a family homestead. The narrative begins with an early meeting with an electrician to install power for a new sauna and cold‑plunge, troubleshooting outlet placement and ensuring compliance with inspection standards. The host then coordinates chainsaw work, pasture clearing, and the construction of a lightweight mineral sled designed for small‑scale livestock operations, sharing design revisions after a first prototype proved too heavy. Throughout the day, family members and hired hands (Annie, Gideon, Randolph, Mario, Heather, Austin, and “Nacho”/Mike) are mentioned, highlighting the delegation of tasks and the importance of focusing on work only the host can do. The vlog also promotes the Abundance Permaculture Film Fest, detailing global host locations, submission deadlines, and how viewers can join online or in‑person. Additional segments cover livestock management—checking on a bull, discussing colostrum nutrition for cows, and a horse lesson for Lily—plus a brief look at the host’s content‑creation workflow, including editing assistance and membership platform development. The overall tone is upbeat, instructional, and community‑focused, emphasizing smart work, collaboration, and the integration of homestead life with broader permaculture initiatives.

I gotta hustle this morning. Early meeting with the electrician. Homestead house build is coming along. Look at this. Nothing like sheetrock to make it feel like we're on the home stretch, and I think we are. The electrician would rather not be filmed, so this is a bit of a recap reenactment. We have one of the most complicated extra bathrooms any of these workers have ever seen. Cold plunge had no outlet here. Now we have an outlet. Sauna, we had the power running here, but would it pass inspection? It will now with these caps on it. We concluded this is where we plug in our heat source for it. But doesn't the sauna have lights? Echo, echo, echo. They printed out some manuals online showed us where the heater was, and that confirmed we put that heating cord in the right spot. But you know what it didn't? Isn't the sauna going to have lights? And how are those going to be powered? This thing needs to be quasi put together so we don't have any surprises, and we figure out what kind of power it needs. That may be my project this morning as the homestead build. That's zone zero, guys. That's zone zero. It's the most important thing. Do you need to see what the boys are doing? It's possible that I need to do some chainsawing for them to keep them busy on the clearing with the machines. Happy day, y'all! Welcome to another day in the life of a homestead family growing what we eat and eating what we grow. Let's see what we're gonna get into today. Early birds! I came out, it's still dark, 5:45. I come to the door, I see a flashlight coming up to the door, freak me out. What do y'all need? Do y'all need me to do more chainsawing? Yeah, why don't we do that since it's a dry day? Good morning, Annie! What you doing? Infection prevention. I got a new nickname for you. Yeah, the smiley one. Oh, you're always smiling and positive and happy. Hey Gideon, we're gonna walk out. Shoot, we better hurry, the boys are already going out there. That's obviously not any grass this time of year, feeding hay. Nacho Nuevo, formerly known as Mike, now he's the new Nacho. To open that sauna and figure this out like right away. I'm not sure it's the wise thing to do. Where are you going? We got to go the trail up there. We don't drive through the pasture. They cleaned up what we've already done and it just, it's like, ah yes, okay, this is what we're doing. It energizes us for the rest. We still have a lot to do, but look how good that looks. The wise The wise thing to do would be focus on things only I can do. Maybe not the thing I want to do most. I really want to know about this sun. Outsource to the community, to Randolph. It's one of the greatest things I've done in my business. Like Austin editing this. It has freed me up to create just better and more content. You guys benefit from that. It's how I wrote Rooted Life, the book. It's how I launched my own network membership area at Abundance Plus. So today I'm gonna work smart. Randolph will probably get that to today and clear a little bit. And then definitely nobody else can do this one. Build, build, you know, build that mineral sled. We're in the process of designing a mineral sled that y'all can build one day. Let's clear some pasture. More dairy, more beef. Here we come. Look what I just got done. Plenty of work for those guys to do. Let's knock a little bit out on the mineral sled. Thank you for getting that. Hey, before we go too far, let's check on the bull. I hear it snapping. Everybody's sitting. They figured out who's boss. I'm not, I'm not sure who it is. Boy, it was a mess yesterday acclimating them to each other. Randolph, can I get you to quasi-assemble the sauna? Yeah, Mario, sir, you gonna get done boarding this week? That's the plan for today. Got our mineral frame, now let's build the bottom. First mineral sled I built was too heavy for the purposes. Most of you guys only have 2 cows, a handful of sheep. And you need to be able to move stuff by hand. So— oh my gosh, okay, I'm lucky. Accidentally tripped y'all's legs with the, uh, plywood. Cut this the wrong size the first time. Cut one end too, too narrow. What if we just put this on here and draw? Yeah, then won't you come help me? Calling it a morning. Let's see what we got. All we lack is the mat and the skids. Let's make that a goal for tomorrow. He's helping his sister get the stuff in the car. Being a helper. Office view. I need to show you guys this. This text just came in. I think I gotta get on the computer. These are our hosts for the film fest across the world. We got Africa, we got Europe. I've been real excited to get in here and look at the films. This is the last day of film submissions. I'm really pleased with what we've gotten so far, but it's really not about that. I think it's— that's just an excuse for us to get together, if we're gonna be honest. Alaska, Hawaii, all over the US, Canada, England, somewhere around in Romania. And a couple in Africa, one in Nigeria. Let's get together all over the world in the same weekend, same time. Lily, do you think they're still gonna have lessons? It's raining. Yeah, she's interesting. Okay, I bet it's gonna stop though. All right, back at the office work. It's the best landing page my assistant Heather has ever made. You guys want to come to the Film Fest? It's free. It's at abundantpermaculture.com/filmfest. I'll leave the link for it down in the description. And there it is. Then you find a host and you let them know you want to come to the party. If you can't find a local party or it's not close, come online. We're going to have an online chat. We'll hang out and I'll be in the chat for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday events. We got so much work done on the film fest today. It's windy and rainy. I really don't know about this horse lesson. It's an important lesson because Lily's got her second show ever this Saturday. It's a special Late lesson today because Lisa, her trainer, wanted Lily to practice with Peaches and other horses to make sure he's sociable. I want you guys to see something. Lily's done. Tell me I'm not a horse dad. She totally had me carry all her stuff. Colostrum custard from our cows. Gut healing protocol. Colostrum. That's what it's for. What's this? Ooh, you want some of this? La la la la la, let me be free.
