These Auto Best Boxes will be Nifty, I Think

Papa and his family build a chicken nest box A-frame while racing against the clock. A 600-lb pig broke the wire, and Papa has to leave in 20 minutes for a call with his publisher about his book The Rooted Life.

Grandma and Big Daddy got us some supplies last night so we can finish our nest boxes. We've got one side of the A-frame, it works great. We've got the back of this thing. I think we're gonna give this a go today.
How did this happen?
See what's happened?
Yes. How?
I have no idea. Cages are in place. Is that loose so that he could have lifted that up?
Yeah, look, look at this.
Okay, where As big as I'd like to see, but she is old enough, so it's not the end of the world. We got to get him over somehow, probably with food. Beefcake is not supposed to be in this pen. He's supposed to be in this pen. Good, it's working so far.
Come on, he'll be all right.
I'm thinking he'll be all right. Johnna, take that food. You afraid? He won't get you. I know though, he is a 600-pound pig.
He's a big pig. He's coming right at you.
It's kind of scary. We're thinking he totally lifted this up.
Or right here.
Yeah, look at this.
This is completely broken.
Yeah, that's broken everywhere.
He broke it.
Those are some bold chickens, huh? We could get a lot more wire and do a snake up it.
Yeah, we secured it. Let's try it, Beck.
All right, more wires, more T-posts.
Think that'll do it? I don't think this is gonna go anywhere.
All right, let's get to work on this nest box. Hey, can you put these ear muffins on for me?
Yeah, for Henry.
It self-drills, but it doesn't stay. Hmm, this one did. It looks like that one might have pushed way in, and maybe that's why. You got to get to a certain point.
Nope.
If we get a little pilot hole here where this can— it's the size of the nut, so it can go into the board a little bit. I think that'll get the head in there just enough. I'm gonna go hard. Okay, that did it. Well, it's, it's, it's there, kind of. I had to do a bunch of holes because I think because I've cut into this, I should have lowered it right below that lip. Hey, these are not quite long enough.
It's okay, Papa, you did good.
But we got it in one way or the other, even though I had to drill like 4 holes right here. What do you need now?
Could you do this?
Okay, he's, he's penciled out his gun. You want me to jigsaw out the shape of the gun? Baby gun? Mama got you Giddy, I'm glad your mom came down because your, your outlet— I was about to cut into the board that goes on the other nest box.
Oh, I know.
I was like, don't you need that? Oh my gosh. So you have to do it on that.
Can you help me draw it?
No, you draw it. You did just fine. He's got his gun marked out. Do that real quick.
Oh, where can I put this?
Why?
Because it's Lily's Christmas present.
Ah, okay. Maybe in the tool stall or in the wire— in the furnace room.
I could try to sneak it inside.
There you go.
Wait, I know what I could do.
What?
I could just walk in that side and act like it's mine to Christmas.
I don't— whatever you want to do, it's your gift.
Well, I can put it in Mom's closet. Okay, I could put it in a Big box.
Do that. I'm finding myself anxious. Really stressed out. Not enjoying this process. It's not going quite as planned. Um, and I really gotta get off of here in about 20 minutes to get on a phone call. It's an important one. It's with our publisher. Nothing's wrong. We're just talking about the marketing plan. We're, uh, doing— oh, this is the pencil. I'm not enjoying this. And I'm thinking of my Instagram quote. Dan, will you post that? Slow down. Enjoy the process because the journey is the destination. Trying to remember that here. I'm almost wanting to stop. Come on. Let's just do what we can. I want so badly to finish this, but I want to enjoy the process. My idea is to put the A-frame up on the tool table and then, uh, find us a shim or like a 2x4. We just need a 2x4 that's level and we can set this up so it's balanced. Okay, there it is. Now I can work. Well, I got dust on there. No, no events. That's going to be super strong. Problem is the 2x4 cuts over and it gets in the way of this lid. That lid will not shut. I guess we could put a shim in that. Yeah, I don't see any way around it. This one will work. Just shim down here, shim up that— basically 3-inch shims everywhere it's attached. It's 3:10. I got 20 minutes till that talk, I think, to that conversation. I was hoping to get this done. This is probably going to be pushing it. I probably should have drilled the holes before I sawed this. I think I'll use clamp to hold these steady. Do them all at once. Works better with the camera. Got it.
Cool.
See, the door won't shut, so the A-frame has to sit off of it. Well, we got it. It's shimmed. Why are you laughing like that?
Because we're done with one side. We have a whole nother side to go.
It's legit. We put shims in there. And it shuts. Look at that. Seems like it's taking forever to build this thing, but it's going to be nice and it's going to be built for 20, 30 years.
I know, we're like, so struggle for several days.
We'll do the other side tomorrow. I was hoping to get this in today, but tomorrow's another day. I'm gonna get on the phone with the publisher. Stay tuned, guys, because tomorrow, tomorrow, for all you people who have pre-ordered my book The Rooted Life and all that you want to, we got some really exciting bonuses coming out for you guys. Uh, so definitely stay tuned to tomorrow's video for that. It is going to be time sensitive and it's limited time stuff between now and Christmas. So that's tomorrow. Let me get on this phone call, then we'll go do the Christmas lights.
