They Flipped the Mineral Shaw | Everything Gets An Overhaul

In this farm‑vlog, Rebecca and Justin, together with family members, spend the day tackling a series of hands‑on projects on their homestead. They begin by installing a new hitch and seat‑covers on their UTV “Sally,” then move on to a thorough cleaning and re‑organization of the mineral feed (the “mineral shaw”), including rinsing, relabeling, and refilling the containers. Throughout the day they also handle routine farm chores: milking a cow, moving hay bales, fixing a shed roof, and clearing trash. The vlog intersperses casual family banter, a discussion about cooking beef tongue, a visit to Papaw’s house, and playful interactions with pets. Near the end, the hosts shift to a promotional segment, sharing highlights from a recent visit to Joel Salatin’s Polyface Farm and introducing their “Permaculture Pigs” course, outlining its content, mentor network, pricing, and limited‑time discount. The video blends instructional farm work, personal storytelling, and marketing for a permaculture‑focused pig‑raising program.

I am gonna work here with Sally's side-by-side. I purchased a hitch for her, so we have like a UT— a ball and then also a pin setting, so we can hook up either one that we need to. And then right now that we're trying to figure out if that hole is is the right size hole for the pin that we have for Bob, our trailer. And then I'm going to put on some seat covers that I ordered. These were suggestions from people who own the UTV and, um, in our member area. So the hitch and the seats, seat covers were both, but first I'm going to wipe down the seats because they've been being used. So then we'll wipe them down and then put the seat covers on them. So I think I have Lily helping me. She's somewhere around here.
While they're putting those accessories on the Sally, I'm gonna go move the luchadors and milk the cow.
Good morning, fellas!
How's it going? You get clean water. Apple cider, clean water, no poop pellets in it. That's good. You've eaten your grass good. Got one more link this way and then back down, and I think we start all over. Animals on new grass. That'll wake you up in the morning, get you excited.
Look at this beautiful fog too. This is nice.
Snap! They've turned the minerals over. It's happened once before. Ah, I shouldn't have put it on this. This was too steep here.
You start walking. Okay. Don't slip.
That was actually pretty easy considering that I've never done this before. Anyways, I got the first row on. Now I'm gonna get the second row on, and then I'll collapse those seats because really we don't really need those seats. It's more just for certain times, so like when we go on rides. And just like that, we're done.
Done.
The seats are protected. Thank you, Lily, for your help. We put the bench away because we don't need it. And now we are going to clean up our mess. We're going to see what Justin's up to. And here we've got another dumpster, another trash pile that we are getting rid of. Just keep getting rid of the trash. It feels so good. One step closer to a nice clean farm, right, Lily?
Yeah.
What a beautiful morning. Something about this really pretty morning, nice and foggy. It's cool but not too cold.
The Lion King? Yeah. Are you the Lion King?
You look like it. Once Justin gets down here, I'm going to ask him about—
maybe—
I don't think that Lucci Luchadors ever got their second set of minerals, so I think I'm gonna work on that. All right, Justin. Yeah, I was thinking that the Luchadors don't have their second set of minerals. Oh yeah, so where is that?
It's in the— oh gosh, I don't know.
Try to round up the stuff and look for them.
I'm sure Sadie's put it somewhere.
Yeah, well, hey there, honey.
Flossy!
Oh wow, are you licking?
I think she likes to lick people. It's kind of gross, that tongue. As the Hollers showed me, that tongue's pretty good eating.
Do you eat tongue?
Yeah, the Hollers made it for us when they were— when they visited us last year.
Wow.
Meg made tongue for us.
Nice. It's like roast beef.
It is.
It's a fatty roast beef.
It is. It's strange to eat tongue, but it's good. All right, so here I go to try to find the Luchador's second set of minerals and get it, figure out what we need to do and do with it. It feels so good. Being down here in this nice clean basement. I think that all that needs to be done is put, um, oh, I know what needs to be done. A lid. Okay, I have this 2x4. I need to go get Justin to rip it for me. Can you rip a 2x4 for me?
Yes, please.
For sure.
Is she giving a lot of milk?
Huh?
Is she giving a lot of milk?
She is. She's going to get like 2 gallons. It's beautiful here, isn't it?
What? What's beautiful?
Just the fog.
Oh yeah, yeah, it is. I already said that.
All right, that's okay. We can say that 7 times, be all right, right?
Thank you very much. Yeah, you're welcome.
We got the frame built. Now we're going to hinge the roof on and put the white stuff on, and maybe we'll get that done before breakfast. I don't even know what time it is, but I know breakfast is coming up. Hinge it, put it on there.
How much you get done, babe?
Um, all the plastic's cut. We have to just put it on and then clean out the things and put it on the wrist centering.
Nice, nice hairdo, man.
The bacon and the eggs and the yogurt's from my farm.
Grandpa Henry would be proud right now.
The yogurt's from our farm, it doesn't count. And the cookie's not.
No, the cookie's not. What's the story on this cookie? And why did I get the smallest one? Don't touch my cookie, I barely have one. Leftover cashew roll crumbles. What size is your cookie? Oh wow, it's halfway down, it's still bigger than mine.
Where's yours?
Right here.
Yeah, here, I'll give you a little bit of mine.
You want to start her?
Yeah. Good job, Papa. When you hit wind, will it keep going like up in the air? Why are we going down here? The cows are not. Hey, pop back up right where we're going.
Okay, Rebecca's getting minerals. I'm gonna get hay.
Jonah and I are going to—
you unload your hay bale.
Get me through here. You want to get through here, get you closer?
That'd be awesome. There's that. We're going to— the roof is on wrong on the sheep shed. Jonah and I had originally put it on wrong, I guess. So Justin's gonna drive, um, Sally up there for me. So we can have the minerals, and then Jen and I will work on the roof. It's nice when the materials can get up there. I don't mind walking, it's just hauling materials up here is not easy. This pasture is so steep.
How are you doing?
They're so cute.
Somebody's excited about these minerals. They don't care that we're right here. It's good to pet them, you know, so when they have their babies we can handle them. These are your two tannest ones.
And Mandy's pretty tanned.
They've already grown in their coat. No, you don't waste no time. They're all here eating, aren't they, Rebecca?
They look really good too.
Yeah, I'm very happy.
Really healthy.
And yeah, these new, uh, Seat covers are slippery.
No, it's the steepness.
Rebecca decided she wants to do an overhaul on the mineral shaw. Clean up the labels, rinse it out. Some of the minerals have gotten mixed together, uh, you know, it's just kind of gooky. So I guess it's, what, 2 years old, this mineral shaw? Good time for a cleanup. Minerals in the passenger side. Minerals in the back. I'm gonna haul this down, even cleaning off the bottom, cleaning off the top.
And now I'm going to set to drying this beast off and refilling it, and then Justin gets to figure out how to Drag it back up there. He's strong, he can do it. Are you enjoying this? Oh yes. I am going to head into the basement and see if I can finish the lamb— the wrestling ring minerals. I just have to put a couple more screws in and then get the shims and this stuff for attaching it to the wrestling ring and put that all into Sally. That feels good to be done. I'm pretty sure That's all we have to do. Okay, so I ended up loading a couple other minerals that they would probably be out of, just in, just in hopes that that's all they're out of and we don't have to come back. So I'm gonna go find out what time it is. So we're gonna go visit his dad today and we're going to take the kids this time. Do you need the love? I finished the wrestling ring minerals.
Yeah.
I put the minerals in.
Thank you.
The back of Sally with it.
Oh good, so it's already attached. Take a break and give me a hug.
What time?
I don't know if I'm bored or what.
Well, you want to go do that with me? What? Go put that— put the, the Luchador's minerals in, and then we'll go to your dad's.
Uh, I was supposed to be done in 20 minutes. I don't know if you can do it in 20 minutes. I don't know if we both can I can do it in 20 minutes.
Okay, well, it's all loaded, so it'll be ready for when we get back.
Okay. Well, it's a miracle, Rebecca. A Festivus miracle. I finished editing.
Visiting time. This time, the niños.
Y'all gonna go see Papaw?
Yeah, down the hill. Here it is.
It's a miracle. Nobody's here. That's rare. My dad's well loved, isn't he?
Yeah.
Come on in.
This looks nice. Somebody did the porch furniture.
Look at all of us.
Hey.
Lord, I love you.
Love you too, buddy.
Start us by Jonah. He's my man, buddy.
Everybody's piling in.
That Josiah, he's the man. Oh, baby. You're a good-looking boy. He's a— he's a good-looking man.
Don't you get any ideas.
I know, right?
He's got bangs.
Isn't it a cute dog? You like this dog?
Oh my goodness.
He lets anybody home. I thought that dog was mean.
No, that's Booger.
Oh, yeah.
This is Sophie.
That one ain't gonna bother a flea. We love you. I love you.
I know, we do too.
All those children. I've got 26 children. I know, it's a lot.
25. What are you going to do with all those children?
What?
What are you going to do with all those children?
Buy a used farm truck.
I did. There, you're good.
Yeah, we appreciate you.
Love you guys.
This ready to go?
It is.
Okay, are you taking it?
No, I'm just gonna move it over here.
Let's get it and keep moving it in case we forget. How we doing? Probably out on a lot.
Yeah, we are.
Oh well, they're out on GRP. I bought BBC, I bought saw about kelp.
All right, we got you guys' minerals.
Enjoy, you're complete!
Look, the wrestling ring is complete with 16 minerals. You guys are looking good.
It's the next day, much Much needed rain. Not vlogging today because I got a special video for you guys tomorrow. It's from when I went to Polyface Farm, visited Joel Salatin. It's on his 10-paddock pig system. He talks about it from a large scale, but it can totally be scaled down. It's going to be an amazing piece of content. I'm going to give that to you tomorrow. It's actually a piece of permaculture pigs. I'm actually going to give that to you for free. Free, no email signups, it's just on the YouTube channel forever-ish. It's all yours. As I was writing my email to promote permaculture pigs today, I wrote in the subject line, everything you need to know for raising pigs. Well, that's what I meant to write, but then I noticed I accidentally— I don't know if it's spellcheck, but it actually changed everything to everyone. Everyone you need to know for raising pigs. Well, I could have gotten— I could have actually gotten away with that because if you think about it, when you learn something, whether it be from books, audiobooks, courses, anything, you're learning from someone. And sometimes the someone— well, maybe all the time— the someone is more important than the something. Like, you see, if you want something, you really have to find somebody else who's already got it and then learn from them. This is a life principle. This isn't just about raising pigs principle, but that's what happened with me and my experience raising pigs. I didn't really know what I was getting into. I didn't even know how for sure to water them. You can sit on my lap on this rainy day. All right, but what happened was The first person we got our pigs from became our guide. They became our person. They became our hero. And then over our 2-year journey, what'd we do? We brought in Cliff Davis. We brought in Chris. He helped us with gun safety. We brought in Joel Salatin. Josh DeBerry from the member area helped me a number of times. Dawnbreaker Farms, we visited him on the Great American Farm Tour. Michael Murray and Part-Time Permies helped us butcher. Ben Holler, Holler Homestead, Art and Bree helping us butcher at the end. All amazing people, and they're all a part of our journey. And now I want them to be a part of your journey, and I want to be a part of your journey myself. Take me on, let me help you, let me and my friends and mentors help you. So you're excited about pigs? Pigs for everyone. They're much easier than people imagine. They don't have to stink, they don't have to tear up the place. Or if they do, you can use that to establish grass and forest, or use pigs on your garden. So we got that all the way. Now you need some guides. Let me be that for you. I collected those folks over the last 2 years, and then we put together this amazing course called Permaculture Pigs: The Course. It's really everything you need to know for raising pigs, from piglets to the plate. Get in there now because till Friday— after Friday at 11:59 PM, prices go up. This is an early bird special because it's not quite complete. So although most of the digital content is there, we're still gonna wait on the DVDs. You're gonna get them by Christmas if you get your order in. So after Friday, prices go up 40%. That's a lot. That's like almost half. So you want to get it on that now and save mega money. Get most of the content in, and then it's going to be— the rest of the digital content is going to be dripping out pretty much. I knocked out like 3 videos yesterday. I filmed them all, knocked them out in the editing, uh, just dropped those. And I'll drip the rest certainly by the end of November. So get in there. Love you guys. It's for you guys. It's for Pigs for Everyone. It's to help make this happen for you guys, learn everything you need to know basically in one evening. So grab it and growl. Links in the description. You need some love too? You need some love too on this rainy day?
All right.
