In this vlog, host Victor (Speaker A) and co‑host Becky walk viewers through a busy day on their homestead. They begin by organizing a chicken‑butchering operation, detailing the layout of scalder, plucking, and evisceration stations, power needs, and ice‑bath setup. The duo then builds tomato and bean trellises using T‑posts, wire, and zip‑ties, troubleshooting netting and height issues. They discuss irrigation tweaks, a re‑configuration of their greenhouse to accommodate seasonal crops, and the transition from leafy greens to squashes and potatoes. Mid‑episode they announce the upcoming launch of their subscription platform, Abundance Plus, describing the wait‑list, early‑bird perks, and the shift from YouTube ad revenue to direct subscriber income. They recount recent YouTube demonetization problems caused by health‑related discussion, explaining how they will produce G‑rated versions for YouTube and full‑detail versions for Abundance Plus. Personal moments surface: a mishap with an Oura Ring, sleep‑score commentary, and a brief cooking demo using a new pellet‑grill hybrid. Throughout, the vlog blends instructional content, community building, and candid personal anecdotes, offering a snapshot of modern homestead life and the creator’s evolving business model.
Chapters
Jonah, why are you making him carry the waterer? Jonah and Josiah's buddies are back in town. Some neighbors you old vlog fans may remember, Sam and John. You and I this morning, Gideon, he's a little bummed because Jonah and Josiah got surprised this morning and he didn't. I'm gonna let them do the chores this morning. We got two projects. We've got twine. Well, this is— we'll take that up there. To the butchering. We've got our supplies, everything we need for putting together our trellises. John, how's it going? Good. I see you've been playing some baseball. Uh, no, no, you just have some baseball pants. Well, they work great for chores too. Let's see this shirt. This shirt wins it all. Work hard, win big. I like it. We're gonna win big today, Mr. Brown. Take this with you. You be in charge of that. Okay. Her yard though, jamming. It looks so good. It's almost peaked. Give it another month. Here we go. This is gonna be a game changer, Becky. Butchering on concrete, butchering under a shed. We kill— that will need to be hung up. We'll need to put a plastic up, kind of protect the The boards, I think. The concrete will wash off, the boards will not. Yeah, that's the board. I guess they're thinking they're gonna do something with that sheepskin.
You have to stretch it and stuff. I mean, I'm no— I'm no expert on hide saving, but you know that much. Yeah, and I don't— his, his hide was so gross. Like, look.
Yeah. Anyways, here's the exciting thing. This just is sitting here. I know. We used to have to put it on pallets. We used to have to balance it. We used to butcher right there because it was close to electricity, but guess what? We even have a 240 outlet for the scalder and a regular outlet. Outlets everywhere. Hey, lights, Becky! If it's a little dreary— well, we're going to be butchering about this time. Yeah, so we'll turn on the lights. Feels festive out here. Okay, so then we're going in the order. So we kill, we scald, we pluck, Then we have it. We have 3 eviscerating tables.
Wow.
And then we dump it into the— we should check our ice machine. It's not been working that great, but I think I fixed it last night. Then we dump it in our ice tub, our ice bath.
The thing is hoses.
Oh, that's a good point.
We need to like run them up.
Well, look, Arun helped to set up this up yesterday. He's got a hose on this. And he's got a hose connect to that. We need another one over here, don't we? Or two, maybe two.
Yeah, because we're gonna need one for this station, like maybe run it along this type thing, or up there, come down and then over here.
Okay. Oh, this too for, uh, bagging them. Well, are we even gonna do it this method? Because you were talking about parting them.
Okay, well, it depends upon what we have. Yeah, I mean, we could park because we have so many people. Yeah, now as well.
Yeah, we're having an Abundance Plus workshop. 6 people from Abundance Plus have been selected to come. We'll have a lot of people because we'll have Arun, us, them. We can park, and that saves room in our freezer.
And well, and it's just nice for when we want to park.
You just want to have breasts or just want to have dark meat, fried chicken. Project number 2. Got an hour and a half. I'm hoping to at least get the beans hung up, if not the line for the tomatoes. Let's check to see if we got the ice maker fixed. It was not keeping up with us, and we're gonna need it for butcher's day with our ice packs. Oh, I mean, that's enough. We emptied it. Yeah, I mean, we'd have this much by tomorrow, by next day, so that would work. That would fill all we need for our chicken.
Yeah, I mean, it's only been 12 hours. So let's see it tonight in 12 hours. So there's a 24-hour cycle and see if it's small.
Well, there's the Henry cart. Probably 1,200 darts.
No, George, why did you say yes?
Did y'all hear that? Why did you say yes? I don't know. They caught me in a weak moment. I say to him all the time, do not buy them anything else.
He's the softie. I'm like, no, we're not.
We don't need anything else.
And Justin's like, well, I have to walk away.
Welcome to my world, Beck. Every morning it's something. If it's not this, it's something else.
Thank you.
All right, thank you. Put it on there. You're very helpful. Gardening time, Beauty. You coming? T-posts, mesh, T-post driver, earmuffins. Check my ears. Little baby Henry. Uh, hardware, wire. I think we got it. How's it doing in here? This might be the case where we turn off a line because these beans got so wet yesterday. Hey, they have drained. I helped them a little bit. Handy to be able to turn off a line. See that greenhouse up in the yard? We actually, we actually sold it. You know, we're eating different. We were gonna alternate and have winter, have plants in one greenhouse over the winter and animals in the other, but we're kind of getting away from leafy greens and transitioning more into like saving like squashes. We're still doing potatoes. I think this is the one. Uh, so really we only need one greenhouse and we can just keep doing plants, heat-loving plants in the summer, and our pigs and chickens in the winter. And we can actually have a yard again. Hey, how excited are you to have a yard?
I'm very excited.
Like something you can walk barefoot in?
I'm very excited about it.
Right out your door, maybe a picnic table. And we've been the crazy chicken ladies for long enough.
I know.
Well, and that was a greenhouse out of the front yard flowering stuff. Well, we have the space, pretty plants. I think we've demoed what you can do in 1,300 square feet if somebody wanted to.
I know, like, if that's all we had, we would be keeping—
we would have that greenhouse, we'd have vertical gardens everywhere, we'd have—
uh, we would be the crazy people.
We'd be the crazy growing plant people, front yard homesteaders. So far this is going really good. We're out here in a nice part of the day. It's not too hot. I'm gonna, uh, wrap this around. I got this 14-gauge so I could actually manage it. I can't do that with my fingers. Heavy and getting hot twisting. You want to unroll it like this. You don't want to untwist it because it gets twisted. I can also cut it with a Leatherman. Pull it tight. Oh yeah, perhaps there's a little bit of sag. No worries, we're going to tie it to every post. But let's pull it taut at the ends. Boy, that's pulling it snug. Going across there tight. Zip ties, a homesteader's best friend. I've got my post up with my wire. I'm feeling really good about that. Now the net. I've never worked with this net before. It's supposed to be easier than like hanging cattle panels on that. Let's hope. This could potentially be a big crazy tangled mess if I'm not careful. There we go. Okay, okay, not too bad. I could hook this. I wonder how long this is. That's my end. Let's go ahead and hold it in there. Let's unroll it. All right, I probably should have used taller T-posts. What do you say? Oh my word, I should use way taller T-posts. I don't have any taller T-posts. I'm gonna attach it with a zip tie at the bottom. Oh, we could cut this, secure it at the top. We won't cut it till the end. There we go. Rebecca had a wonderful idea to do with this excess, like, because they'll grow, Becky, won't they grow?
Like, yeah, they will look as high as we want them to.
We have this We have this up here. I think it's gonna be just right. We have this cross wire. Why don't we hang our—
well, I was thinking what you would maybe do is use the wire to run the wire through the top of it.
That worked out great. Connected it way up there. Now I'll go to every one of these points. And secure those two wires together and secure that up. And then I can come back and go in the middle and secure it up. This is beautiful. Beck had a great idea to raise this up to our wires, and beans, from what I understand, will just go up the whole thing. Nice use of space. Feels so good to be done with the project, only a little late to milking. Yes! Tomorrow's butchering, but the next day, let's hang those— let's get our tomatoes trellised and cucumbers. There's a turkey out. You go that way. Oh, there's a couple out. What's going on? I think two chickens. Yeah, one turkey. Oh, good catch. Leave the one turkey. Okay. All right, everybody's good. They got food, they got water. The water's keeping it cleaner. All right, milking time, boys! Office time. Boy, some days have passed. It's getting closer. June 27th, launch of Abundance Plus. Oh boy. How much we got? Less than 2 weeks. If you remember, the big idea is you can homestead, we can help. How are we going to help? Well, we're going to give you all our instructional videos, all our inspiration, all our community, all in one streaming platform app. Abundance Plus coming June 27th. 12 days to Hey, finance plus, I've started a waitlist, guys. If you get on the waitlist, you're gonna get early access, early bird special, and a bunch of goodies like our fence. Remember we did that fencing master class? Well, I'm going to give you some— I'm going to give you one of those clips, uh, one of those classes on putting it up. We've got a homestead crash course. That's a lot of what I'm gonna do —right now with my office time. Interesting turn of events. A gardening video— limited monetization. That's frustrating. That was a gardening video and I was thinking, what in the heck? Like, what did I do wrong? What did we talk about? And I look closer and it's like restricted because of graphic drug talk. I got one shoe. I'm as bad as Mr. Brown. I just remembered I've got to dig out my pants I threw away, uh, before the trash man comes. I've got my Oura Ring, which is judging how I sleep, I believe, inside the pocket. Want you in the saddle? How's that? I can't bring myself to do it. All right. So I'm looking at that video and I'm like, drug use graphic? Oh, and then I saw it. It must have been our talk about my Lyme disease. So this, I guess this one will go down too. And that was reviewed by humans, so it was inappropriate. Well, for monetizing on YouTube. Okay, totally fair, totally fair. YouTube's business, it can make up its own rules. That's against the rules, but so be it. But that's kind of frustrating as a creator who— you guys need to hear it. You want to hear that kind of stuff, right? And I guess that's why— that's one reason I'm super excited. You guys are super excited who I've talked to about Abundance Plus, because guess what? We can talk about it all day long, and tomorrow when we butcher chickens, we can show that. In Abundance Plus. We're going to respect YouTube and their rules, but we're also going to say there's another way. And so we'll keep putting the washed-down G-rated versions here on YouTube, and we'll also put a version, a more realistic full-life version, on Abundance Plus. Aha! My old pants. Please tell me there's a ring in this because I hope I didn't get nasty for nothing. Please tell me. Yes! Hey, how's it going? Found the ring, and I got thoroughly embarrassed. Somebody saw me digging through the trash. Well, not like 50,000 of you just saw me dig through the trash. This Oura ring I might get flagged for that. I don't know. You got to be careful when you're talking about health, but, uh, I guess I don't have to be anymore because if they demonetize this one, who cares? We're— we're— we, we have subscriptions over at Abundance Plus, and we're going to you guys for our income there instead of the man. Look here, Becky, look here. It was in the You know, because I looked for this like crazy on Sunday, but I didn't go deep enough. Had to get deeper. I must have thrown it in a really old bag. I heard the trash— the trash people come, and I thought, oh, they didn't come. I don't know what you heard, but— oh, I heard beeping. Someone back— I did get caught though. A bicyclist caught me digging through the trash. Embarrassing.
I thought the trash people caught you.
Hey! And I jumped. I'm back inside. Let me show you what I've been working on. That's, that's the new Abundance Plus site, which by the way, it's coming public June 26th. I've said that, I've said that like 3 times. But to current members, Abundant Permaculture members are switching over to Abundance Plus the 17th. Oh, and by the way, I said 12 days. Well, that's of filming, but by the time you see that, this, there's only 11 days inside the new website. I have just uploaded a gardening drip irrigation instructional, 3 minutes long. Do put on some sunglasses and do get some vitamin D. Let's do this. For tools, rubber mallet and some handy dandy garden pins. What are these called? Yeah, anchor pins. How to keep your chicken's water clean in the brooder. So show you how to build that thing I built yesterday. Two of those at 21-inch lengths. I put those up at the top. See, they're up at the top of this thing. And then two 2-foot across half-inch wire mesh on top of that, and I cut it to 2-foot lengths. U-nails right into that, screws into the sides. I plan on doing more of that. Things I'm doing in the vlog Just taking a minute and showing how to put together, not this big epic thing, but just this one 3-minute thing. You guys, you guys are busy. You're doing it. You're living the dream. Just want to get straight to the point and go. Next up, you see this? That's for our live shows. I have a camera rigged up permanently. Well, turns out you can go— we can do live on Abundance Plus. I'm going to figure that out. Randy Klyman has gone before me figured out, give me an instructional. So now I've got these bullet points, step-by-steps, and it's a little intimidating for me. Thank you, Randy, for helping on that. Let's see if we can't figure this out because it'd be so cool to be able to go live on our own platform as well. I got it set up, guys. We've got a— the waitlist set up for you, the countdown to Abundance Plus. It says 12 days now, but really, if you're looking at this, it's 11 days. Put your email in there, join the waitlist. But look, we're not— you know, you're getting a little picture here of what's coming with the apps and being on the TVs and stuff. But join the waitlist. Look, you're going to get first dibs to the new site, you're going to get early bird special, 10% off, and you're going to enjoy free video samples from the library right now. First episode of Rooted, uh, how to install the electric net, and the Homestead Crash Course. So good stuff. Go ahead and join, and look what happens when you join. Okay, so you're on the waitlist. You'll be emailed from me when time comes. And look at all this stuff. Look at all these goodies, guys. This is stuff you can watch right now. So look, how to raise a year's worth of chicken in 58 days, how to get started with pigs. Here's an intro to permaculture, like how to design Your Homestead, How to Get Started with Chickens, Instant Chicken Garden. Come on, guys, Keeping a Family Cow, it's pretty much a documentary, an hour-long docu-instructional. Uh, How to Do Raised Beds, go for it. You can actually get the plans by sharing this with your lovelies. So I do encourage you to check it out. Uh, what's there to lose? You join our email list, opt out at any time. Becky, was this my sleep? No, 25? No. Out of 100? Well, I got a 25 when I was in the trash.
Because it said that your heart rate or your temperature was elevated 3.5 degrees.
So what was my latest before when I was just sat?
79, that's the greatest thing. I know it's not. You should look at mine.
Where's mine at? You're kicking my butt. I am kicking your butt.
And I nurse a child at night.
You're kicking my tail. 85? What's wrong with me?
Well, I don't think that you got enough sleep that night is the problem. Um, because you gotta—
oh, that's when I went to sleep late.
That was— we've been, we've been struggling. Look, like that one, you— now see, there you go. You went 8:57 to 6:12.
Beautiful day for a walk. Kettlebell trainer doesn't come on Tuesday. So we're gonna try to, on those off days, get a walk. It's vitamin D. Look what came while we were gone. Hold and lift here. This thing comes in a wooden box. You guys want to guess what this is? I'll give you a hint. We, we rid two, two machines for one. I don't know if the machine is the right word. There it is. It's a pellet grill. It's a grill. And a pellet stove hybrid. The beautiful one wants more room on her dock, her sitting space. She's the beautiful one, why doesn't that make me the strong one? We got it up there. Unfortunately, we do not have time. We have to start cooking tonight. Special night pizza. You like the pizza? Pizza flavored breast milk tomorrow. That's right. I tried a carnivore-ish type pizza. No crust, just Italian sausage, a little bit onion, a little bit of pepper, a dab of pizza sauce and mozzarella on top, and that's how it turned out. It doesn't actually look too bad. Let no one be deceived, this is no pizza replacement. There's something perfect about bread, mozzarella, a delicious meat, a hair of seasoning, but this is a lot healthier. Here. Let's see how it is. It's pretty good. I mean, it'll do as a substitute. No, I can't even— you can't get anything here.
