But what your dad said is he's got to put the show on for you to eat the veggies. Is that right? It's a brisk morning outside, but it's nice and warm here by the wood stove. You guys just get up? Looks like Lily just got up. Hey, are you guys recovering from the big crazy bus day yesterday?
Yeah.
Hey, look at your wild hair. Your crazy hair don't care now. Mom, word on the street is that you're feeling sore.
Yeah.
You got into quite precarious positions painting yesterday. I did.
I woke up this morning and my bum is— my bum and my legs are a little sore.
What do you have to do today towards the bus? I know every day is bus day. We won't be able to go there today.
I think it's more logistical stuff I need to figure out. Figure out today.
Ordering?
I ordered a bunch last night when we got home.
What kind of stuff?
I ordered— I ordered the toilet.
Get you going here.
Ordered the toilet, and I ordered just some more odds and ends things that, like, a light goes over the door and an extra light for the bathroom. Just like really odds and ends stuff here and there, like a grout sealer for the tile. We did get our shower head though. Yeah, then I've just been researching more about like ventilation under the RV mattresses. Stuff like that.
So this is the big batting for the bed, right?
Yeah.
Okay, so we got our bat— our wool. Is it wool? And then look, that's the shower slash bath head. Good job, Mom. It's starting to come together. I will say it's not without its stresses, that's for sure. People take longer than expected to finish a project. Items don't come on time. They don't fit. They get dent getting going in the bus. It's not all peaches and cream. Things cost more, or you don't think of certain things. So it's been quite the process. We're coming down here on the end, and so I think the stress elevates towards the end, but we're getting through, trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Oh, he's found the Barbie suitcase. Did you find the jewel?
Yeah.
Yeah. Brown, show them how you can jump off the emergency kit. Woo! Good job! He's just discovered that. He's loving it. Woo! Okay, my turn, my turn. Here we go. All right, who's gonna go outside with the Swiss chard and get some Swiss chard with the camera? You?
But we're coming out to get ref chard, so I figure we'll bring you along. Good job. Papa, is this enough?
Yes. The Swiss chard in the works next to grass-fed pork. Whoa, we've got a Lego explosion. I guess this is what happens when you get into it, huh? Christy's here today. What'd you think of the bus yesterday, Christy? It's coming along. Yes. You think we'll get it done in time?
I think so.
Okay, good. You still plugging away at the breakfast? It was a cold start for you. Oh look, I didn't see this yet, but he's got his fixtures. Mom's doing the vlog yesterday. Did you like the vagabond bit? Did you see the vagabond painting our bus?
I did. Where did he pick her up at?
I don't know, but I guess we could use some more of those. She was great.
She was like a hard worker.
She took one for the team. She did. You guys want to know what it's like to convert a school bus? Well, here's a little glimpse. I gotta call 5 different people and coordinate 5 different people: the generator guy, the solar guy, the welder, the mechanic, the bus mechanic, and the school for our CDL. Take a deep breath. Hey, may I speak to Mark? Okay, I'll send him to you. Okay, thanks. Hey Mark, it's Justin. Good morning, sir. Hey, good morning. How are you? I'm good this morning.
So my washing machine finally arrived.
Okay, well, what are we waiting on?
After many, many—
Let's get it in here.
How are you?
Good, how are you guys? Is that a sigh of relief?
Yes. So I originally ordered this washing machine from a different company on December 1st, and it is what, December 28th today?
I just gotta say it real quick, they're loving that bus or that truck.
Some of the appliance websites out there are not honest, and that's very frustrating.
Well, here we go, we found one.
And then this is the boys' bedding.
Okay, sweet. So we got a lot to do with this bus on Thursday. Oh, and I just talked to Mark, he's totally flexible. He's happy Bracken can do that, he's happy to do the other stuff.
And then this is the boys'.
Oh, cool.
This is the boys' bedding.
Hey boys, come here.
This is it.
Now I gotta call Jeff to see what a measurement is between the back rails for the hitch. He's not there. Okay, I'll text him, see what we got. Usually he's pretty responsive to that. Texted Jeff. Now, let's call Bracken, the solar guy. I got no answer with Bracken. I'll just try to text him too. Let's call the auto mechanic. The bus mechanic in this case. Make sure they're available to work on it. If we can get it to them. If we can find a driver to get it to them. Remember, I can't drive it yet. Wondering if you guys are open next week on Monday. Are you taking that day off?
Oh, let me see.
That's amazing news. The mechanic can do it in just one day. Jeff just called. That's good. He gave me the dimensions for this hitch, so now I gotta call the— it's, it's actually a, uh, trailer sales shop. So here we go. Just ordered a bunch of stuff online. Talked to our generator guy. He says we gotta go into the local area to order the hitch.
You can't just—
I tried calling, they acted like I told them I had 8 heads. And so we've got to go in town and talk to the senior gentleman. Come on, chauffeur, let's go!
Peel out in the grass! No, I don't want to.
Look, there's grass coming up in the garden. You guys remember I planted that. So what do you— so who cares? Grass is growing. Well, who cares? It's like almost January. I know, that's how warm it is. Why am I wearing a sweater? Because it's almost January, but I don't need it.
I'm hot. I know it is hot. You should wear a better sweater.
Oh yeah, we don't want anybody to see me in this sweater. Oh, okay, I'll take it off. You approve of the shirt? It's okay. We were just trying to get out of there fast. We've got to hurry.
I know, they're gonna close.
We're at the Campers store, gonna look for a hitch. All we got in there was some more homework to do. Gotta take measure— gotta get more measurements, find out where that bumper is in relation to the frame, and, uh, take a bunch more pictures. So hopefully we can do that tomorrow since we're going up there, and we can come by here before they close. Anywhere else we gotta go?
Uh, we have to go get passport photos for our driver's license. Our CDL school needs that.
I don't know what for. Let's see it! You don't like it?
But what does it matter?
I know. Is this even gonna be anything?
I don't know.
We don't even know what this is for. Oh man, who's that hunk?
Why didn't you smile?
I didn't think you were supposed to.
You can smile. This isn't for a passport.
Oh.
And I smiled in my passport photo and the guy didn't say nothing.
Well, I hope you get through customs.
Whatever.
We are back and we have some special visitors today. You guys want to introduce yourself?
Uh, I'm Jacinto Moctezuma.
Nice. And this is?
I'm Jenny and this is Sebastian.
Sebastian! Apparently he's Mr. Brown's biggest fan, I hear. He is my favorite. Okay Sebastian, I heard, I heard you can identify the vegetables. Is that right? Do you want to see our vegetables under the low tunnel? Come on. We were talking earlier and apparently he's a big Swiss chard fan. You want to see the Swiss chard? Do you eat Swiss chard? Yes. Good. What about kale? Come on, be honest. You really eat kale? Good. Turnips. You see them coming out of the ground? You want one? You want to pick one? You want to see the Swiss chard? Right here and right there. You want to pick one? Go ahead. Yeah, yeah, good job.
He did. Did you pick a piece? Is that your favorite? Oh, that's so nice. Did you say thank you?
Here's a little more. I don't know if you're going to a place where you can— did you say make a serving? Yeah, that'll be a nice serving for you.
Yeah, that will be a good serving.
You say thank you? I was showing him the turnips. He said, where's the Swiss chard?
Play with Mr. Brown. He would love to have you play with him.
What are you working on, man?
A cave.
Nice cave. You got a tractor. Let me see that tractor. You're doing awesome.
Help!
Yeah, you and Sebastian are working the land together. Good job, guys.
