Three Men Ate the Testicles, and Liked It.

This content was created by Victor Justin Rhodes. This content was uploaded by Victor Justin Rhodes. This is a YouTube video titled "Three Men Ate the Testicles, and Liked It." (created 2021-11-12) containing an informal, multi-speaker farm/homesteading episode. The transcript records a host (labelled SPEAKER A) and several participants — Lily, Rebecca, Jason, Ben and others — discussing and demonstrating on-farm tasks (milking, chicken/pen management, pasture care), butchering sheep, and preparing/frying lamb testicles for tasting. The tone is conversational and instructional with casual banter, references to family/kids on the farm, and an on-camera cooking/tasting segment; the speaker notes the more graphic uncensored footage is available elsewhere.
Chapters
Oh, mucho camera equipment. As I say, we're not just butchering sheep and eating their testicles today, we're making a movie about it. You ready, darling?
I'm ready.
You guys have testicles? You don't need them, right? For testosterone, right?
Yeah, I don't need no testicles.
You're right. Hey, do I need testosterone since we're done?
No.
Yeah, yeah, it's still beneficial. Yeah, I mean, that might be a stupid question, but I don't think he's having any more kids and he's buying—
he said I don't think I'll do that. No, we're not doing any raw testicles.
I think I'll cook those testicles. Here, let's show them. Pull those, pull those suckers out. I don't really want to eat them, to be honest. Look how huge they are. Well endowed, those rams. That's two. Those were bigger than their hearts, just one. We're gonna look up a recipe and fry those. Hopefully Ben and Jason will try them with me. You think they'll try them? Lily said she would. Lily, where are you going?
Trying to get this thing to all the other trees.
Why don't we catch them in a crate? Are we really doing that this morning? Couldn't that wait? We got a butchering. We need to milk by 8 because I have friends coming. Ben, uh, well, the Hollers, and Jason from So the Land at 9. I can't ask them to be here at 9. And me not be ready for them because they're hustling through their chores, uh, and then driving a distance to be here. So I feel extra pressure. But once we get done with milking and they're here at 9, there are no other distractions today. We can just straight up butcher 2 friends. I already got some practice yesterday, so actually probably be a pretty relaxed experience once we get going. Little cold start this morning. Well, Diesel's got the glow plugs. Sometimes you can plug those in to keep them warm. Look, Josiah, the pig— the pig food came yesterday. That was a nice surprise. What are y'all doing?
We're gonna go do the fat hens, um, all right, in the greenhouse.
Okay, they—
we need a separate pallet, correct, for them?
I would put the feeders to feed on pallets. I'd put water on pallet. I'd have 3 pallets in there. All right, Lily, let's see if you can catch them. Try to catch them without letting them out, obviously. Don't let it go. How do we have 2 chickens out already? This thing's butterfly-proof. Listen, they got to figure out who's boss. Oh, looks like that one's boss. That one's Rosie. We don't have a name for that one. Look, hey, we should greet each other like that. Hello! Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hi. Hello. How's it going? Hello, hello. Hello. Pallets look nice. They did a good job. Feeds and waters are up. Hello. Hi. How's it going? What's up? Hello.
Hi.
How's it going? What's up? Yeah, it looks like they're ready to be moved. But we didn't bring a net. Do not have time. We'll just have to move them tomorrow right before the Harvest. Killing one of these guys tomorrow and another one the next day. And the other one is a breeder, so hopefully she'll live long, happy, productive life here. That can even smell a little bit. When you have a smell, it's definitely time. Did you get all the feed? Okay, I got a little bit left. All right, I think we did good by them. I was worried they were kind of gaining a little slow, but we bulked them up the last 6 weeks and I think they're going to turn out nice, nice size. I mean, ideally we would wait a little bit more, but it's time going into winter. You guys notice Rebecca is back. Woo! Got to that stage where she can be back on the farm with us. It's been a long while. But chidlers is our first crop, isn't it, babe? Gideon's been protesting this morning and I haven't been there. He's sitting. I haven't been able to, uh, help him. They are on, in my opinion, our very best pasture today. And they went from one of our very worst. We had to feed hay yesterday. We're not gonna have to feed hay today. And they're gonna have ice cream poop tomorrow, which is slimy, wet, green goodness. It's explosive. Yes. Very sweet. They're eating ice cream grass, which means— I say that because they're gonna get more cream. Whoa, we need to get Fred while he's here to cut. This will improve our, our— well, you know, this is a yard. This is a yard. What? And it's— I'll help you shut it. Yeah, it's so bad because we have all these— there's no sunlight getting in here, so we need to— well, shoot, we can remove probably both of these pines. That'll improve it and lower limb— or removes the lower limbs of the oak tree, except for the swing set limb, of course. What a cool little spot to be milking this morning. Look how front yard this is. Okay, there's our house. This is beautiful. We've got a nice view out there. We're milking under this beautiful oak tree. We got rid of some of these lower limbs, more sunlight would get in here. Joe Salatin taught me that. All right, I'm gonna go do the milk. You guys— Mom, you think you got it with the kids? You guys will move the sheds, get all the fences situated, and then I'll go start getting the sheep stuff ready. We're looking at 20 till. All right, come on, Gideon, which is just enough time, I think. Gideon, bring that landscape tape. No, no, no, no. No, we're marking the keepers, bro.
I marked them.
These two are keeping them.
We're only keeping this one. Go, go pull that one off. And I don't want to keep this one because the kids like to climb it, but Mom's like, all right, let's let them keep it. But it makes me nervous. We'll have to mark for Sunday because the landscapers come on Monday. Look who's here, Jason! I got a treat for us today. I harvested ramlets yesterday. Yep. And, uh, I kept them intact. Oh my gosh, for me and my buddies. Oh goody, I see a lot of excitement. And now we're not gonna eat them raw, okay? We're gonna figure out how to do— we're gonna talk to Mr. Google Pants and figure out how to do this. You know what that is?
I haven't—
oh, he's not sure.
Oh yeah, when you say intact, you could say kidneys.
It kind of looked like maybe they could be kidneys. Testicles. They're bigger than the lamb heart, man. All right, never tried that. These, these lambs probably didn't even weigh 60 pounds, 70 pounds. Look at that size of those.
Oh man, that's the best.
You ready for some testosterone jolt today? You down?
Yeah.
Okay, we're gonna fry them up later. You're down. I knew you, I knew you'd be a good sport. You follow Liver King? I don't. On Instagram? I don't know. You know, you need to follow it. Leverking will take a big old bite out of those big bull testicles raw. Oh my gosh, not just one bite, two bites. So he's inspired me. I can at least cook these things up, maybe cooked, and eat them, maybe. We did it! How do you think it was, boys? First—
it wasn't too bad.
First time witnessing a sheep.
So I think Real similar to a deer.
Well, you are next, okay? There's, there's one for you, Ben, and one for you, Jason, and a real nice tasty treat after. We had Jason and Ben harvest the other two at the same time so they don't have to be alone. Sheep are not humans. They have different reactions, and they are more afraid of being alone than being killed. Yeah, that's why we kill them right in front of each other. There's no like, oh, my buddy's gone now. They keep going racing. If you take their buddy away, they flip out.
Yeah.
And you're really noting that there is no fight in these guys?
There is no fight. You just pick it up and put on his back, and then that's it.
Yeah, they're done. If you pin me down— because once you pin them down, they're super calm. You take their legs away, they're calm. You take my legs away, I'm biting, kicking, punching, pinching, screaming.
I can't think of another animal that would not put up a fight.
Like, yeah, dog would fight you.
A cat?
Yeah, cat, certainly. Rare. How'd it go for you, Ben? Roller Homestead, it went pretty good. You're jumping in just like you're doing a deer, aren't you? Basically. We have a pulley so that we could harvest both these guys at once because we didn't want to leave the one alone. YouTube guidelines prevents us from showing the whole picture here, so if you want to see that part, the more graphic uncensored version, you can check that out on Abundance Plus. We did a bit of it yesterday, so I'll leave information for that down in the description, or you can just go to Abundance Plus and search it out. Just search for uncensored sheep butchering, something like that, and you should be able to find it. The couple who butchers together stays together.
At least we eat well together.
We do eat well together.
That's the secret.
Give your 6-year-old your younger self some advice. You're still living in California. Yeah, living the city life in my office. And here you are cutting around a, uh, elbow deep— a spectrum. No, that's not called a spectrum. What is that? I'm off in the butt right now. Now you're off in the butt of a lamb, or somebody else's too, for that matter. Right, right. So tell your— give us some— give your 6-year-old So younger self, some advice, a heads up, a heads up.
Just I would say, um, patience, um, and trust the process and say yes. Can say yes to everything and say yes.
Yeah, you are a good sport.
Say yes to experiences. Yeah, yeah, just to, just to get your hands dirty. This is the payoff right here.
Yeah. When did you guys actually start homesteading? I know you left California, but it wasn't like Jason where he has— he wasn't even homesteading. You guys were at least jamming out your yard.
We were trying.
So I would say like 4 years before we left, which has been how long? So 7-ish years.
Yeah, so it's probably like 2014 when we got chickens and started ripping out the backyard.
Give your 7-year-younger self some advice.
Don't be afraid to just do it, like jump in and try. Yeah, for sure. Can't hold back.
You're saying the same thing, but you agree on that one. Yeah, don't be afraid.
No, no, you just gotta do it.
What would you do if you weren't afraid?
Yeah, that's right.
So your 7-year younger self was a little nervous. Oh, and a little timid, and you're just saying calm down, it's gonna be all right. Yep. Just jump in.
Well, the worst—
be brave.
It doesn't work out and you just go back to doing what you were doing before.
Yeah, a lot. Yeah, a lot of times people don't think about that. Like, really, is it— would it be that hard to go back if it didn't work out?
You just go back to what you were doing before, right?
I feel like we're now on our fifth one. I've got it, and now I'm not gonna do it again for an entire year. I'm gonna lose it. We were able to actually— the Ben did this one and he able to do it without piercing it. So we're gonna have us a hide. That was so much fun. That's the best way to learn, is to teach. And I got to, uh, teach sheep butchering. And so that was awesome. Time to clean up and then to eat some nuts. On today's episode of Burn It Up Cooking Show, not chicken soup— lamb testicles. I don't know if it's wise that you're eating first before you eat the lamb testicles.
Oh, is this a requirement?
I think you want to be hungry, don't you? You'll eat anything if you're hungry.
I'll save room.
I looked it up, and trust me, Google did not autofill that search for lamb testicles. Lamb chops came up. This article came up called The Nasty Bits: Testicles Grilled and Fried. So I'm gonna do the fried version. Yum. Look at that. That actually looks like a Chick-fil-A chicken nugget right there, guys. Just tell yourself that.
Sure.
I don't think women are supposed to eat tempura.
Yeah.
Rebecca has made me some gluten-free bread cups. Hey, we've got 4 testicles here.
You have to help Buggy eat.
I think I will make— I'll make 2. I plan on eating a lot of it. I didn't keep these guys intact for the testosterone. And deal with that management nightmare for nothing. Our meat these days lacks testosterone because we're eating castrated males, or we're eating females, but mostly we're eating males and they're mostly castrated. And I would like to say that my animal only had one bad day instead of two, because that's a bad day if I castrate, and it's also a bad day when I chase them around and then harvest them. But all the rest of their life was glorious. So it's cool to keep them intact because that's one last bad day. Yes, buddy?
Will you please make my plate?
Sure. You want to hold out for some testicles? Nah. Hey, are my kids gonna try them?
Maybe.
Lily, you said you were gonna try them. Maybe. You guys want to try testicles? Nah.
But they actually are good for you.
No? Okay. Yeah, they're good. Rebecca, are they good for girls or not? I'll look it up. Wouldn't hurt you. It might help this white sauce leftover from Japanese. Rebecca's actually consulting Mr. Google Pants right now. About whether it's good for girls. Here we go. Just said to cut it in third— 1/3-inch pieces. Wow, that's a dull knife. Oh, I'm cutting through the membrane. It did say get rid of the membrane after you cut it, but I wonder if it'd be easier to get rid of it before. We got the membrane off. Feed the pigs, because I like pigs. More than I like— I like pork better than I like membrane. Oh yeah, got an interesting texture.
Is that the membrane I get rid of too?
Yeah, there's more membrane to get rid of. Okay, all right, I'm gonna take this— where— this, this part. I didn't make enough mashed potatoes. Wow, okay. I kind of thought this was going to be like the kids thought the udder was going to be, like a balloon full a little water. I was afraid this would have been a balloon full of you know what. I'm actually not that intimidated by that anymore. I don't know what that is about it. All right, I'm gonna cut another one up and then we'll go to the next step. This is going to give me a little bit of an edge. Our own homegrown lard. We're gonna deep fry them in that. I'm gonna get it to 350. I'm gonna put a little more Redmond salt in this because It's, uh, that's gonna be the key. Let it be a flavorful batter. We are at 350. I've got some, uh, eggs. 4 eggs for 4 testicles. Hopefully 4 cups of breading. Rebecca, I might need some more, I don't know. Dip the testicle in the egg and then in the breading. I did, I did the testicles thin Then do that until it's golden brown. That's what I'm talking about. I'm getting a little better. I'd add a little more salt. I don't think enough salt was in the batter. So I think that one is perfect. I think I've been maybe pulling them out a little early. Look at that. Oh, there, that's where it's at. Oh, yum. I'm actually getting hungry. I might— my mouth's starting to water. Looks pretty good. Eat them while it's hot. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. You're gonna do, uh, first one no barbecue sauce. Just straight up. He has rules.
He has rules.
All right. I mean, they look pretty good. They actually do look pretty good, don't they?
They're like chicken nuggets.
They have a chicken nugget-like texture. They're very soft.
Um, The texture's the problem. It's, it's like fat. It's like, um, it's like we just fried some fat.
It's like, yeah, it's so bad.
It's like we fried fat.
It's a mental thing.
Yeah, it is all mental.
It's all mental.
It's all mental, folks. This is delicious. If you just said this was like chicken, like, I got the kids on this because they're—
yeah, I wouldn't, I wouldn't bleed you.
You gonna try it? Come on, Meg.
It's like eating fat from a steak.
Oh yeah. It's like—
It's the texture is the only problem.
It's like a slightly undercooked McDonald's chicken nugget.
All right, boys, describe it.
Go for it.
Try it.
Try it. Really, it's not— I'm gonna eat a bunch.
This is how I'm eating my organs. Right here.
Oh, she's got it in a pill form.
The breading really helps, actually.
It's like, imagine like an undercooked chicken nugget.
Go. Is it good? Yeah. No, no, don't tear it, just eat it.
They're not lying to you, John.
They're not lying to you.
How's it getting good? Okay, these are some more.
These are my children who ate it.
How's it, Lily?
Hi, Lolly.
If I think about what it is, I'll probably gag.
That's what the problem is.
I don't want to eat it.
Alright. You try it. Oh yeah. How's it? Okay. You want more? Munchie's trying it. What do you think? I know.
Undercooked chicken nugget.
Yeah, it's like a chicken nugget. I think if we didn't tell the kids anything, we'd just act like this is normal, they would totally be into it.
Oh yeah, I think so.
He's going for it, he's gonna eat the whole thing. Barbecue sauce makes it kind of fun.
They do, is they dip them— you're supposed to dip them in the dry, but I didn't find that helped.
No more for you?
I'm good.
Stuff back and forth.
Want some with some barbecue sauce? Yeah, let's do it. This is what happens when you say yes. Jason said earlier when the camera's on, yes to everything. I did not imagine I'd be killing the sheep today or eating tabs of No.
This is what I get for saying yes.
You never know what you're gonna get into over here.
Alright.
How's it with barbecue sauce?
Makes it better.
It makes it better.
It does.
It has a lot of good vitamins like potassium, sodium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, but it also balances your hormones and it boosts your body metabolism.
Nice.
So tomorrow I expect great things from you.
