Unboxing 3 Garden Tools Hoping for a Better Way

In this informal farm vlog, Victor "SPEAKER A" and family members Jonah, Gideon, and Rebecca walk viewers through a day of homestead chores and a new gardening tool unboxing. The video opens with a discussion of turkey care, hardening off three‑week‑old birds, and a pig choking incident that they resolve on the spot. The family then unboxes three new gardening tools—a soil block maker, a gridded planting grid (the "NeverSink" tool), and a propane‑powered flame weeder. They demonstrate how the grid creates straight planting rows, how the soil block maker aids seed starting, and attempt to assemble the flame weeder, encountering a gas leak that they troubleshoot with compound, tape, and online research. Throughout, they coordinate fence and pasture management, discuss grazing strategies, and plan future tasks like seed starting pepper seedlings in the greenhouse. The vlog blends practical animal husbandry, tool evaluation, DIY problem‑solving, and family interaction, ending on a hopeful note that the flame weeder will be functional after the leak is fixed.

Everything did fine. A little bit more yellowing there. If we take off the yellow leaves, stop sending energy to that leaf and starts focusing on the core of the plant. We're good from this one. It's almost out. And this feels good. Smells good too. I wish you guys could smell it. The smell of new construction. Ah, that's like it. That's more like it. It's one way to get it out. Here you go.
I think the turkeys eat their grit right.
What do you mean?
They don't eat it like food, like the sea monsters trying to.
The sea monsters eat everything, won't they? So the sea monsters, Jonah, they're going out this week, so let's start hardening them off. Wednesday, I think the cold weather's done. They're going to be 3 weeks old. Uh, as long as it's not going to be raining, let's put them out. So no heat lamp for them. We'll keep the brooders, but no lamp. Start hardening them off. But they got their feathers coming in mucho. Yeah, look how hungry they are too.
Sea monsters. Turkeys.
Big difference in activity there, isn't it? At this rate, Jonah, we're gonna have to probably feed them 3 times a day instead of just twice. Tough to keep up with them when they're about to graduate the brooder. Did they already go through 5 gallons of water?
They probably go— they— you need to replace it. So they probably drank 5 gallons a day because I have to refill it because it wouldn't last them the rest of the day.
Where is this sheep fence connected? Way up here. We're about to move the fat hens. Turned off their fence, but we got to turn off the fence to sheep. Well, I think that's where it's supposed— I think it's supposed to be jumping from here to there, but we must have forgot. Let's see if it's on. Nope, it's off. We forgot to turn it on. All's well though, everybody's in, everybody's there. Shoot, we're about out of water. After working with the chickens, when we fed the pigs, Bacon started acting like— well, you know how they get when they start eating the food. Bacon started acting like she was choking. Did she come at the food hard?
Yeah, they were really kicking it out. Let's see how she like can't gag something up.
See what I mean?
She needs to gag something up and she can't.
Okay, she can breathe. Something's stuck in her throat.
So what are we gonna do about that?
I don't know. She's breathing, but she's not hungry. He's not— she's not either.
Just because she ate it all.
No, there's more here. You think she filled up?
I just fed him, and about 2 minutes later she was having problems with gagging. See how she's like— she can't gag it up, and she's trying, trying, trying.
Okay, okay, let's go see if there's anything we can do. There it goes, there it goes. She spit it out?
Yeah.
Okay, she got some stuff out. Okay, no, I think she's just probably got her throat clogged up eating too fast. Okay, she's pooping.
Yeah, but I think—
does that mean the other pig's eating what she threw up? Savage.
That's how savage they are.
I think she's gonna be okay. She's breathing. I'm pretty sure if she was choking choking, she would, she would already be dead. But I think it'll work itself out, kind of like she just did. She's probably just got more in there. Come on, come on, spit it out. Went down the wrong pipe, honey. She's peeing. Okay, we could go back and see. We don't have internet out here. We could go see if there's something we can do. See, she's getting stuff through her outer nose. That means she's getting air. Okay, I wish, I wish you'd come drink something. Will you come drink something? Oh, maybe she's gonna eat. Maybe she's cleared it. Look, Jonah thinks she cleared it. Hope that doesn't make it worse, honey. Chew it. Looks like you're actually chewing it. Thank goodness. That's scary. You gotta slow down, honey. There's plenty. Thankfully now she seems to be doing just fine. She started eating slow and now she's sped up. You think she'll be all right?
Get in.
Yeah, she's gonna be all right, Jonah. Come on, so close to harvest. Come on, we don't want— come on, don't go out like that, okay? Just slow down, just slow down. Yeah, that's true, that's true. That's true, that's true. Yeah, we just don't want her to die in pain. We just don't want it to end like that, honey. We could, we could harvest you. You're old enough, but we just don't want it to end like that. That'd be a miserable way to die. Sure, please do. Here, let me get this feed pan up. Jonah's dragging their food back up the hill. You know, I think next time Maybe just the skim first. Yeah, because then they won't just like swallow— try to swallow the whole foods. They'll get their hunger satisfied and then they'll slow down. Hey, is that the beautiful one? Are you unboxing?
No, not necessarily. I was just gonna try to put it where it belongs.
Your flame weeder? What, garden stall? Maybe. Yeah. What's in that big box?
The Griddr Master Kit tool.
Okay, so that lays out a grid.
Is this one— oh, I like this one.
No more popping lines.
Stand up soil block maker, which I want that down there in the garden.
And then you opening any of these today? Yes. Okay, which ones?
The soil block maker right now. I'm gonna plant some seeds.
Oh sweet. I know you guys like unboxing, so we gotta at least show them what this is before— here, here, come here, take a peek at this.
These are—
you potting up to these?
Yeah.
So you like potting up to the— what are these called? Fertipot? Fertipots, which are biodegradable pots. You don't like starting seeds in those, but you do like potting up to them, correct? Okay, babe, this is like Christmas. A gardener's Christmas here in May.
That's right.
What is it? What is it, Mr. Brown? It's a big box.
It's a box.
Oh, I know.
I can tell you this, it's gonna make our gardening life easier and more productive and efficient. Oh, another box. What, Grandma wrapped this present? A box inside of a box. Sharp objects. Oh yes!
Oh yay!
What is it?
I don't know.
It's a gridded—
a gridded—
it's a NeverSink tool, I believe.
So what's a gridded do?
It makes a grid on the ground.
Then you don't have to—
you don't have to—
well, you draw one, but you don't have to do all these things. This is making the OCD in me Very happy.
Yeah.
And to hurry up and get it done, and her very happy because it takes time to, to string out the lines, and it's almost not worth it.
I don't know what to think.
But this, this, this makes it easy. And the reason we want marked lines is because we can plant our, plant our transplants out on those lines, or direct seed. And then it's, as they grow, it's easier to hoe in between them because you can just go all in one easy swoop and not worry about hitting any plants because they're planted perfectly in a straight row and it looks nice. With a name like Red Dragon, we've saved the best for last.
Well, no, I still got my, um—
oh, that's right, soil blocker. Big Daddy must pack this one because it's thorough and stapled and Hurricane 5-proof.
I know, you can't even get in it.
I don't—
I think if you've cut the tape there.
Oh, because it's stapled down.
Yeah, it's very thorough packaging. There we go, we did it. Get in. I think that's safe. I fell on you, bro. We got it open. You got to show us. She got these—
there's a tank. We need to get it filled.
That's for our propane. So what do we have? What else? So this is the actual tool. Oh cool, where's the flame flamer itself?
Okay, so you put the tank in here.
Sweet. That's gonna be a fun job. This is a flame weeder. So like when we do carrots or beets and you direct seed, I'm pretty sure you do— you go ahead and direct seed, and before they germinate, you sock it to it with the flame weeder, destroying the weeds, right?
Yep.
We could do this around fence lines too. Don't get any ideas there, honey. Hey, yes, we would do this around fence lines too, couldn't we?
This is one of the main reasons I got it.
It's a non-toxic.
It was for the fence lines and, and like in my garden bed where there's just a whole bunch of weeds and not— I can just flame it.
Yeah, and it doesn't hurt the soil.
No. All right, cool. Thank you.
Hey, I guess we saved this I saved this for last because you're gonna use it right now.
I am. That is huge!
What?
This is gonna be so nice.
So how does that make your life easier?
Wow, this is going to be so nice because I will literally have like 2 of these and be— and the tray will be full.
Okay, so you'll— that's gonna make These, these things.
You really only do one, two, and then one little one, and then it'll be— the tray will be full.
Here's the little one.
Just gonna make it.
You've been doing this for all these. Okay, try it out. Rebecca, your greenhouse is slap full of plants. What in the world are you gonna start?
I'm gonna start some pepper seeds for Lorraine.
Oh, that's so—
the land.
I'll water it for you.
That's nice.
Thank you. Because, um, we were— we are trading some pepper. We're trading some seeds, and so I'm just gonna start them for her so that she can get them nice when we can get them to her.
Okay. You watered it some, Gideon?
Yeah.
Okay, put a little bit more.
Don't spray Mama.
You don't want to overwater it because I don't think we have any more potting soil on hand, do we, Rebecca?
I have a little bit more left in this bag. Okay, but yes, this needs to be— this is precarious.
I'm putting it on.
First time, Mom. Nice. You don't have to get on your hands and knees.
I know. I don't know.
Oh, you keep on getting more soil in there. That's good. Try it, try it in there, right? Yeah, perfect. What? Oh, I like it. Trying it out. That's right. Becky, game changer.
2.
Oh, you'll be able to put 3 in there, Rebecca.
I know, man.
You don't have to use the hand one.
Nice.
3 shots and you're done.
Whoops.
Yeah, well, you're missing one, honey. You can move it with a trowel.
Yeah, that fits perfect.
All right, last one. Good deal.
Wow, I just spaded over.
Good deal. Perfect. Hey Lily, have you given her alfalfa?
Nope.
Go ahead and we'll get on this. All right, hopefully we'll do our chores, do our business inside, and maybe this afternoon we'll have time to try out the flame weeder and maybe even the grid demo it.
Papa, I won't get ready to hop off unless you start watching.
Oh, just go ahead. I'm about to start milking right now. A gigantic silver maple. Well, somewhat gigantic. I guess it's medium-sized. I hate to do this. We've got the tree service crew here here. They're doing some work here in the forest, but I'm like, can you clear this tree? Hey, if it wasn't the power company that last week, it's going to be the tree service company this week. You'll be learning a lot. See how he's, he's turning around? Well, he's a little truck with a trailer, but now that we get so much feed at once, they want to deliver it by tractor trailers. And until now, they've had to back all the way down the road or not come and transfer it to a smaller truck, and it just takes longer. So what if we got rid of that silver maple, put some road bond down, and the tractor trailer could turn around here? Oh my word, it's a beautiful afternoon. Oh my word, it's a muddy chidler. What have you been doing?
Playing mud fights.
All up in your face.
Yeah.
Oh my word.
I was running out of my pants before I fell down.
Oh my gosh, you guys are a mess. Let's check out this tree though. Sure. Okay, so they left it tall because we have, we have some earthworks coming, some, uh, various earthworks tomorrow or the next day, and this will be one of them. The big tractor, or the— what do you call it, why am I blanking on— the excavator needs the trunk tall. They'll dig up the roots and then they'll be able to push this over. All right, who's going up first?
Me, me, me!
Youngest to oldest. All right, can you pull yourself up from there?
Can you hold?
You got it?
Yeah.
Okay, I'm here to catch you if you fall, okay?
Good view.
Good view?
Yeah. You want to jump?
You're gonna be right there.
Okay, you got it. I got you. Come on, jump. No, no, no, come on, jump. Yeah, you need help too?
Yeah.
Okay, 1, 2, 3. Got it from there. There you go. Nice. Okay, I know you're a mess. You're a mess, bro. All right, let's go do the chores. What, you need help getting down?
Yeah.
Okay. All right, go. If we get done with chores soon enough we can try the flame weeder. This is where the cows may be going. We're checking to make sure it's recovered. We've kind of had a weird— we're having a weird spring, you know. It got warm and then it got cold again, so grass took off and then slowed down again. It's recovered. You know, I wish, I wish this clover were taller. And a little bit bigger. We'd have to skip this for a couple of weeks. Yeah, in here it's good, and where they would go after that is not much better. When grass is going— growing fast, you move them fast. When grass is growing slow, you move them slow. We have some things going to seeds, but how are the things doing that they actually grazed? It's needing some— needs some— I mean, it's, it's fully recovered, but it could get bigger.
We— well, I got some thoughts. Sure, we could keep them in the luchadors' paddock for a little bit.
No, because we don't want to affect their, their grazing too much. Okay, Rebecca, grass has slowed, so we're gonna slow the cows down. Okay, you with us this afternoon, Teddy? You with us? Well, sheep, y'all hiding under the shed? We're going from there to there. Let's put up our nets. We've encompassed this huge area. The fence goes way down there and back. It connects to the woven wire fence. Makes me think it'd be sure not— it should be nice to have a woven wire perimeter fence everywhere, wouldn't it? Uh, because then you can build off of it with this electric net. Come on, we're about to get you some fresh grass. Okay, let's get this out of the way so I don't practice stepping over it.
Okay, call them.
There's a huge just bramble patch down there. The cows don't touch it. Look, the sheep are heading there now. I think, right, because of where the cows are going, it's going to be weak grazing for the sheep. Cows are going to get most of it. Let's leave them in here a couple of days and then catch up to the cows. You got free— this is a huge paddock, Moose. Is it that time, Beck?
It's that time.
You—
how about you figure out this flame weeder and I'll go put our trailer back?
Okay.
Never mind on the trailer. It looks like it's gonna take two brains.
Well, no, I just don't— I'm not— I I don't know what I'm doing here.
Okay.
I'm reading, but I don't— I don't have confidence that I could put this together properly, and I don't really want to blow us up.
Okay.
All right, so far so good. He's doing the compound on the stuff. I'm real technical.
All right, let's— we got it outside. Let's give it a try. You got that spray to see if we get any leaks?
Yeah, well, let's make sure that it's hardened.
The glue hardened? Oh yeah.
No, you did it.
Oh yeah, I say oh yeah, you say no.
Well, it did it. Look.
Okay, well, don't rub any off. I don't know if it'll hurt to—
I think it'll be good.
Add any on it.
It doesn't say. This is the annoying part.
So we're going to turn this a quarter.
It's like spraying.
Oh wow, it's bad leaking. Oh, it's leaking.
Turn it off.
I did, I turned it off. Well, we are not flame weeding right now. There was a leak right there in one of our fittings, so we put some fresh compound on it. I'm gonna let it dry maybe during supper and then come back out and try it. Bacon. I guess we're having bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes. BLTs. All right, supper was good. We're gonna try this. That stuff has not hardened at all. I guess it doesn't harden. Well, let's see if we got it threaded better this time.
Oh gosh.
Yeah, there you go. Oops.
Wait, is it still leaking?
Yeah, look at that bubble.
It's full on.
Hold on one second. Yeah, I can smell it. See where it's bubbling up? Yeah, right there's where it's leaking. How do we get it to stop?
Do you want to just leave that overnight and see if it hardens?
Should we?
I guess we could ask Mr. Google Pants, that stuff hardens. Well, I usually like to have happy ending vlogs, but I guess this— it did end happily. We are not exploding. There's a little tiny leak. Rebecca says there's gas tape.
Yes, I read online that there is.
I'm gonna—
I'm gonna see.
Yeah, I think Big Daddy's going to town, so maybe he could get us some gas tape. And tomorrow's another day.
