We weren't ready for this 1,200 lb BULL

A family receives a 1,200-lb bull they weren't prepared for and has to figure out stalls, water, and hay while the kids vote on a name. They settle on Stud Muffin. Earlier, they make sweet-potato bacon wraps and celebrate zero cavities at the dentist.
Chapters
Good morning! How do you want to celebrate today, Mr. Brown?
Eat dough?
How about some mashed sweet potato bacon wraps?
No!
I think so. No. We've got all our ingredients. Let's do this.
Hi!
Do you like that?
You got it. I told you I get it.
Yeah, you do it. You do. Here, do it flat like this.
Okay.
I didn't do this flat.
Practice.
I don't, Papa.
Okay.
What you doing?
I'm doing it right here.
Whoa. Is that a better shot? Cube it. Okay.
Okay.
I'm gonna do mine.
Okay, cut about like that. Whoops. Okay, oh, you want to help?
I think so too. Is this going to be for Papa?
This is going to be for the bacon. It's going to be a different kind of meal. Been boiling these guys for a while. I'm going to check their tenderness. Okay, super tender. Getting a little behind on the dishes here. Hey Johnny, you got to make doing dishes a celebration, then maybe it'll get done, right? Here, don't touch it. Butter, rosemary, garlic. Here it is, turned into more of a bacon, uh, sweet potato salad than a roll, but that looks really good. We'll keep trying. Two thumbs up. It's delicious. Yes, you've already eaten your sweet potatoes. That's good. This is an interesting flavor with the sweet potatoes. That's different. That's really good. It's like garlic and rosemary. Yeah, before what we would do is just butter and maple syrup. You can actually drizzle maple syrup on this.
Can I drizzle maple syrup on it?
There's your review of him. At the dentist now. And this week is week of appointments. Josiah, how'd you do, buddy?
Good.
Any cavities? No. You're doing great, buddy. Like that you're sticking with the cowboy boots. Here, they're giving you a coin to put in there to get you a toy for being so good. What is it? It's a sticky hand. Yeah. Oh no, it's a ring. Here, put your thumb through it. Put your thumb. There you go. You're that guy with a thumb ring. Hey, your teeth checked out all right. Held up with the trip. Just got done with the dentist. Cavity count between all 6 of us is a whopping zero. Zero. I'll admit we weren't the best brushers and flossers on the trip. We did, but not as good as we would like. At the end of the trip we just kind of forgot to floss.
I don't know what happened. Just forgot.
And, and look, look who's chirpy right now. I think it might be the 850 kind comments so far on that movie.
All the messages and comments that I've received, I really, really, really appreciate it. It's lifted my spirits so much.
And you've been feeling better the last—
I have been feeling better. I think that it's just gonna be like up and down, like I'm gonna have a— I'm gonna have more good days than bad now.
Yeah, but I'm still gonna have the bad days on occasion. So, okay, okay, wild man, you got a cow to get. That cow, that bull is going to be here in 50 minutes. Hey guys, the bull's gonna be here in 50 minutes and you know we're not ready. Okay guys, it's 12:45, we're almost home. You think the bull's gonna be there?
I don't think so.
I'm thinking Gurney was pretty ready to get this bull up here. Okay, we are in the holler and I don't see him yet, so that's good. All right, here we are. It's, uh, 5 till 1. He's not here, thank goodness. Totally not ready for— up! I think I hear it. I think I hear him. Field's not ready. I don't want to put him there unless we absolutely have to. Let's see what kind of skills he has. Can he back up to the stall? So So I'm thinking we're gonna put him in a stall. This is the same guy I got my bull from last time, Nick. Nick was such a stud muffin. I just called this guy up and I was like, do you got a bull? Because you raise good bulls. I think he's seriously coming. Hear it? Look at there. That's a prompt fella right there. 4 minutes. I didn't get to do nothing to set up. Jonah, I know, I know. Can you make sure that there's water in there? Okay, can you make that happen? Thank you. Just take the water from the other stall and put it—
I know what they call a bull.
What do they call a bull?
Um, holler.
Oh, you know what they call a bull. That's funny. How about let's call the bull Stud Muffin? Okay, let's go see this. Yeah, I'm assuming he's not handled, right? Okay, so the other one's very handled. It's a milking cow. Okay, so we're gonna— I was thinking we'd put him in the stall, kind of calm him down, get him used to us, give him some hay, give him some water. When that cow gets here and she gets in the rhythm, we'll put him out. Hopefully follow her. That's what happened last time.
This bull, he's gonna make you—
I heard you're a net-o.
Okay, in my opinion.
Good. Let's see this beauty.
Okay, that was what we—
he's a big one back. He is.
He's beautiful.
He's bigger than Nick. Hey, buddy. I won't get too close. This one's not handled, uh, so he's gonna be real nervous. Oh yes, so happy to get a bull back on the farm. That's sustainability right there. Yep, we've messed with AI before and that just doesn't work out for us. You're a boss. Yeah, what do you think? You want to grab that bull by the horns? No, you want to grab the bull by the horns, get him in the stall. Hey, you do like this, just go, go with him. That's right. How else we're gonna get him in the stall? Can you get him in the stall?
You can.
You gonna get him in the stall? Grab him by the horns? Yeah. Mama is?
You're not feeling that good?
It's gonna be Gideon. Oh, okay.
Gideon's the expert here.
You hop on his back, grab those horns. All right, Gary, you want to look at how we want to get him in the stall? This is the stall I'd like him in, so I don't know if he— is you driving? I don't know if you could— if this is too soft to back up here and we can make a chute with these gates, or if we need to put them in that front stall.
Put that door to the trailer.
Uh-huh.
Right in here. Okay, we could slide one of this, something like this, in front of it, and then you could pull it up, and then we could shut the door. You want to do that?
Put that in front of it before I pull up.
Yeah, we don't want him.
He's yours, and I don't want him.
That's all right. All right, we heard that. If he gets out, we're, we're in trouble because he don't know where home is yet. So he thinks he can back up. What, you guys got some hay in here for him?
No.
No.
Okay, we got water.
I need to borrow your salad to get mine.
Okay, okay. Does he know where it is?
Yeah, I told him it was on top.
You break open the hay string and then just bring a clump of hay. And throw it into the corner. Okay. Yep, that corner. There we go. Hey, good. Well, you're a determined little girl. Good girl. Hey, you happy to have an animal on the farm?
Yep.
Is this starting to feel like a farm again, guys?
Oh yes.
Good job. You guys happy to be taking care of some animals again? Look at them! I've never seen them work so hard, huh? Take so much initiative. Oh, you too, you too!
What do you think about that big guy?
He looks like a— he looks like a wild animal.
He's a pretty cow, isn't he?
He is that.
What are we gonna name him?
Stud muffin.
Are we naming him?
And I hope that that's what he's gonna be.
There you go.
Stud Muffin. So far so good, Gurney.
The kids want to name him Buffalo. They don't want to name him Stud Muffin.
We have to think of a name for the paperwork. I'd say that's good. Come up, get tagged, Gurney. What we're going to do is he's going to pull that gate open, he'll go, he'll get in, then we're gonna, then we're gonna slide this metal gate. Yeah, then we're gonna slide this metal gate in front of the— The problem is if this bull escapes somehow, there's no other cows here to show him where home is. He'll want to be looking for other cows. And he's unhandled, so there ain't no catching him. There you go, he's ready to get out.
It's got a bull, not a cow.
We want him to just take his time.
Move on, move on. Come on, come on, come on, come on. There you go.
Keep going in nice and slow.
Oh, he smells water.
He's already drinking.
Guess he really likes that.
Yeah, guys, Lily, Lily, stay still.
Yesterday about this time we were about mid-afternoon.
That's good, he's comfortable enough to take a drink.
Okay, come right, press to get in there. Push it, push it, push it, push it, push it, push it.
All right, and then we'll keep coming with it. He's going to pull out. Gentlemen over there are going to sling these doors shut. Okay, ready? Yeah, we did it! We did it! We did. That's good. Yeah, that's locked. All right, we'll settle up with Gurney.
I've got your paper here. Okay. I want to put how you want it filled out up here and what you want the name is.
Yeah, we're in between, uh, naming this guy, uh, Stud Muffin or Buffalo.
Is what?
Stud Muffin or Buffalo.
Stud Muffin.
Yeah, Stud Muffin. Hopefully he's going to be a stud muffin. Hey, come here, baby. Come here, Becca. Yeah, we got a name in.
I like Bully.
Bully.
Bully. She liked Bully.
Because it's a bull.
Because it's a bull. It's a bull.
Come on, everybody's gotta be happy with the name. I'll submit to whatever you guys want.
How many votes do we have for Stud Muffin? Okay.
Okay, let me, let me get the other kids. Okay, I'm gonna first tell you what a stud muffin means.
Okay, what does a stud muffin mean?
A stud muffin means somebody that will get the mama cow pregnant first try so that we can have more calves. That's what a stud muffin is.
What? What? How are we gonna call him stud muffin? He's gonna do it. How do we know he's gonna listen about that?
Well, I guess we're trying to do positive thinking.
How does he know about— It's the power of positive thinking, buddy.
What does he know Does he know about—
Does he know that?
He doesn't.
He will never know. It's just for us.
So who likes Stud Muffin? Not mine.
Okay.
I kind of do.
Okay, Lily and I.
Then who likes Buffalo? Got 2 for Buffalo. Who likes Bully?
Bully.
Lily likes Bully.
Oh, oh, oh, wait. Do you guys like Bully?
Yeah, Bully's funny. Bully or Buffalo?
Bully or buffalo?
I did a vote for buffalo. Let's just do buffalo or bully. Okay, yes, vote for him.
I'm so sorry for you that you're getting voted out.
And who's the one to be caring for this guy? No, it's okay. I'll go out with peace.
Buffalo bully.
But are we really gonna go out there and call him Buffalo?
No, I don't really like the name Buffalo.
No.
Okay, let's go fed muffin. Stud Muffin, Stud Muffin it is.
So are we going Stud Muffin?
Is everybody cool with Stud Muffin? Isn't that a fun name? It's so funny. I guarantee you people are laughing right now.
Because we'll call him Stud for short or Muffin for short. Stud or Muffin. Which one do you guys want to call him?
And we'll make somebody laugh every time we call his name.
Stud, stud, stud. I'm gonna call him Stud instead of Muffin. Stud. Stud.
Stud.
Hey Papa!
Yay, Papa wants a muffin. Mommy, you're looking out for me, aren't you? You're looking out. Hey Papa!
Hey Papa! She's looking out for me. What would be his nickname?
Hey Papa!
People are laughing right now.
His name's Papa. What would be his nickname? Bully and, uh—
I know she does not want her nickname to be Muffin. So don't call him Muffin.
He could be Muffin.
Oh, well you could call him Muffin.
Muffin could be his nickname. You could call him Bully. You can call him Muffin. You can call him Studly. Sudley.
I like Sudley.
I like Sudley too.
So just because his official name is Sudley, I'd like to see the registrant's faces when they see it. Serious as they are, right, Becky?
