Yellowstone National Park - Close encounters with Wild Life and Natural Phenomenons

In this two‑day family travel vlog, the hosts (Speaker A and Rebecca) explore Yellowstone National Park, beginning with a wildlife‑focused drive through Lamar Valley where they anticipate and spot a variety of animals such as bison, elk, moose, bears, wolves, and numerous birds. The narration mixes playful banter, child‑like curiosity, and educational tidbits about the species they encounter. The vlog then shifts to a personal anecdote about a historic waterfall photo taken by a Life magazine photographer involving Rebecca’s grandparents in 1946, adding a human‑history layer to the natural scenery. On day two the family visits Old Faithful, waiting for its eruption, and proceeds to the thermal pools and Midway Geyser Basin, describing the sensory experience of the hot‑cold waters. Throughout, the family’s mascot Maple appears, and the video concludes with a teaser for a forthcoming Grand Tetons vlog. The overall tone is conversational, enthusiastic, and family‑friendly, emphasizing wonder, safety concerns, and the joy of shared discovery.
Chapters
Today, Yellowstone National Park. We got goals though. How many wildlife can we see? We're not gonna—
I hope a lot.
Hope a lot. Bison. What are the possibilities? Bison, grizzly bears, elk. Elk.
Well, they have wolves, but I don't know if I want to see one of them. What's wrong? What's wrong with wolves? Well, I've heard that they're kind of aggressive. So honestly, I don't really want to hang out with any aggressive wolves.
How much wildlife can we see?
Buffalo!
Buffalo! And we're not only spending one day in Yellowstone, we're gonna spend two. This video is gonna be two days in Yellowstone. You know guys, a buffalo could ram our car.
Yeah.
She rolled her eyes! She rolled her eyes!
Did you see that? I doubt it.
You rolled your eyes at me!
I didn't.
What in the world? What do you mean what in the world?
You don't believe it? What do you mean what in the world?
I think I've seen it on the internet.
Because it's the truth.
That makes it true. I hope not. I hope not. But I do hope we get to see some up close. I hope so too.
I hope so too.
These are the birds we could see, including—
Whoa!
What the heck?
A rock just fell down and I ran over it.
Oh my gosh!
I didn't mean to run over it, but it was like rolling and I— That was crazy.
White pelican, bald eagle, among other birds. And in the back, guys, an elk, a moose, grizzly bear, black bear, bison, bighorn sheep. Pronghorn, wolf, coyote, red squirrel. Oh my goodness, mule deer and others.
Oh yeah, there they are.
Mark Canadian geese off your list, guys. East entrance? Yeah. All right, terrific. So there's where you came in. You're right here right now. There's a lot of different things to see in Yellowstone. You can see thermal features, you can see wildlife, you can see just beautiful landscape, there's history, there's a lot of things. Okay, um, we'll start with wildlife.
Wildlife, yes, that's something we do want to see. Can I stamp? Open it to be yellow. Okay, this is right. Do it right there. Do I have to put it on a certain one or just— No, you can put it on any one you want. That's what you want is kisses? Gideon, will you kiss me? Will you?
We've got our plan. Today we're gonna do a wildlife route going down into a valley. You remember the name of the valley where there's bison? The ranger was there a week ago, saw 1,500.
Lamar Valley.
Lamar Valley, here we come. Tomorrow we'll do the geyser Old Faithful. Oh my, right there. Pull over, Beck. Pull over.
I'm going to. Oh golly!
Right there on the side of the road. Just saw it.
Mommy, can we get out and feed?
See them over there?
Yeah, we're buffalo.
Oh, buffalo by the geyser too. You see them out there?
Yeah.
Would you pet them if you could?
How long would you pet them? For an hour. For an hour. They go home. And then go home?
How does it make you feel to see them, Rebecca?
They're really majestic animals. And to think that these are like from the— and when they broke them up, they broke them up. Yeah. To think that they were— these are the ones that like were here for way longer than us.
Look, guys, way over there across the valley, an osprey nest. Can you see it? What's it look like?
Eating a fish. It's got brown feathers and white feathers. Now shut one eye and keep the other eye open. There you go. Holy cow, there's 3.
Perhaps if you use a zoom. Oh, really? Perhaps because sometimes— Oh yeah, I can't see. Sometimes the autofocus— Oh, there it is, guys.
Whoa.
Wow. Thank you so much. Done with the sightseeing for the animals for right now. Now we're gonna go see a waterfall.
The story goes that my grandparents came here on their honeymoon in 1946. They got married in June and they came here in late June and they were viewing the falls falls and the lower falls. There is a time a Life— was it Time Life? Hold on one second. There was a Life magazine photographer. There was a Life— there was a Life magazine— there was a Life magazine photographer there, and they started talking with my grandparents, and he ended up convincing my grandfather to go to the bottom of the falls and to take a picture, and my grandmother was scared to death, and she said that She'd always tell my mom that she just felt like the water was gonna just grab her and it was roaring so loudly. And my grandfather was quite the daredevil apparently, and my grandmother was the more scared of the whole thing. And so the gentleman took the photograph. It took 4 hours for them to set up the photograph, and then he drove all the way to New York City, and it took like 6 weeks for it to get actually in the magazine. It was the first full-length photograph that they had put in Life magazine ever, and my grandparents were part of it.
Where do you think they were standing?
I think they were standing on the left side on the rocks right there. You, there's no way they would let us do that now.
Wonder what they see.
I don't know, but— I saw something.
You saw it?
Yeah.
I see it.
What is it?
It's a deer, elk or something.
Oh, maybe it is a moose.
It's a bear.
It's a bear.
Yeah, it's a bear, guys.
Fun.
See it?
Oh, okay. Oh no, it's a moose.
Oh, we're trying to see, Mr. Brown.
I'm trying not to kill people in front of me.
Oh yeah, it's a moose.
We can come back and get it. We'll park up here and come back. I want to see a moose.
You see it in the woods there?
Mama, that's an elk.
Yeah, I bet it's an elk. There's two of them, guys.
Oh, whoa, do you see that rack?
Okay, we've got some elk here. We're gonna get so far.
The guy with the blue shirt, if he will ever move. Come here. That's so cool.
Well, we had a good day in Yellowstone. Didn't see a bear, but we did get to see elk and all kinds of other wildlife.
Yes.
Now back to Maple, the mascot. He's so still, guys. It's like he's asleep. Oh no, he's awake. Yeah, you're beautiful, buddy. Day 2, Yellowstone National Park, Old Faithful. We have no idea when she's gonna blow. Blows every 90-ish minutes. Hopefully we're not getting here just after she blows. But it looks like a lot of people are gathered around, so I'm having a feeling we're pretty close.
Are you gonna watch it? Does it do it just once, or does it do it like a lot? I do a lot. Becky. Almost. That was pretty neat.
How lucky was that?
That was really lucky.
We got there, just waited a few minutes, and it exploded.
I know, I think we were there like 15 minutes.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
Now where are we going?
We are headed to the thermal pools.
Okay. As soon as we get out of this traffic.
Yes.
Last feature at Yellowstone, Midway Geyser Basin.
It's burning hot.
It's not.
I don't know what it is.
Did you touch it?
No. What does it feel like, Josie? I don't— it's like hot and cold together. Yeah.
All right, everybody say bye-bye Yellowstone! Wrapping up the Yellowstone vlog today. See you guys tomorrow in a special video about the Grand Tetons. We're actually going there today, yes, but we're gonna upload it the next day after this Yellowstone video, so it should be good.
It should.
You ever been to the Grand Tetons?
I haven't. Somebody said you should go. I said okay.
I don't even think we've heard of it.
I've heard of it, but it's supposed to be majestic. I'm pretty excited.
All right, let's go see some majesty.
Yes.
