A $20M+ media company uses AI to surface the top 30-50 resources for topic pages, letting human editors focus on serendipitous curation instead. They call it "humans plus AI"—necessary to compete, but they won't let the algorithm make editorial calls.

How does AI fit into the process of creating the newsletter, helping your curators/editorial side of it? Like, where does AI fit into your business in general?
Our whole thing is it's not like humans versus AI, but it's like humans plus AI, right? So like, how do you supercharge your employees to be even better? We're starting to experiment with this now, is like, if we're gonna go do a topic page on Shakespeare, we wanna make sure that at the end of the day, the human has the time to like go do that serendipitous work. But also like, if you're looking for like the best 30 to 50 resources in the world to pull into that page, like AI can help you with that, right? We balance using AI and computers to, like, help the human be better at their job? Because, like, if we don't do it, someone else is going to do it. We think that the human guiding you through the experience and not just, like, prompting things is, like, what's the beauty behind the Topix product. And if we just immediately outsource everything to AI, it's not going to end well for us at all. Like, very quickly it won't end well.
