A mother hippo and her calf cross a river right in front of the narrator after breakfast. The animals surface and move left across the water, close enough to watch without a guide or vehicle. The narrator calls it sweet and surreal.

After we had breakfast in a little buffet area, we just went— I just went and sat by the river. And some of my party had walked down one of the trails along the river shore, and we got to see some magnificent creatures that we didn't have to drive anywhere for. This hippopotamus was one of them, and she and her— she was guiding her baby across the river. They were going left, and it was quite sweet just to watch them walk, walk by and pop up out of the water. At first you look at them and you think, is that really what we're seeing? And sure enough, it is. So it was really, really special. We kept staring into the river, watching that hippo and her baby continue to walk across.
