In this motivational talk, Kelly Alhooie urges listeners to proactively reserve personal time in their calendars before others can fill it. She shares her own practice of taking a full week off every 6–8 weeks, or at minimum a single day off every two months, dedicated solely to self‑care—not for family or work obligations. Alhooie emphasizes that protecting this time with firm calendar blocks prevents resentment, burnout, and the unsustainable hustle mindset. She stresses the importance of treating personal time as non‑negotiable for the entire year, regardless of emergencies, to stay in the game long‑term.

If I could teach you one thing tonight, you must do this. You must fill your calendar before anyone else fills it. Is everyone picking this up? You must fill your calendar before anyone else freaking fills it, because you will become resentful and stop what you're doing. So you guys can see, I take a whole week off every 6 to 8 weeks. Some of y'all may not be able to afford that right now. Some of y'all may just be able to take one day off every 6 weeks, every, every 2 months. One day off for yourself, not for your kids, not for your dog, not for your spouse, for you. Now, if it fills your cup to hang out with your spouse, then sure, you can do that. Okay, if it fills your cup to hang out with your kids, then you can do that. But I need you to take time for you. Don't be like me, just killing yourself in freaking parking decks and, and doing whatever. That's the hustle. It will just wear you out. It will wear you out. You will not be able to stay in the game. So make sure that every 6 weeks— I'm literally going in my phone right now, or if, again, if you guys want this, we'll give the opportunity at the end of this to get it, but Okay, you use this and you block it out. You block it out. And I do that for the entire year. So y'all, when I look at my planner, it is continuous where no one can touch my personal time and it keeps going out for the entire year. I have it for the entire year. It's blocked out and I don't care if a freaking fire happens. I'm not changing it. It stays because I promised myself that I was going to do me. And that's what I need y'all to do.
