Kelly Alhooie (host of the Poe Biz Podcast) explains how pelvic health clinicians and entrepreneurs can achieve luxury travel by creating retreats that combine business and vacation. She shares personal context (first international trip to Italy with her mother), recommends polling an existing audience to choose destination preferences, and argues retreats accelerate revenue while offering transformative therapeutic environments where attendees can think, heal, and make life-changing decisions.

What's up, guys? Welcome to Poe Biz Podcast. I'm your host, Kelly Alhoi. Today I'm going to talk about dream luxury vacations. And you're probably thinking, what the heck does this have to do with pelvic health? But it has a lot to do with it. The other day, I pulled you guys on Instagram and I said, what's your biggest dream? And there was three things that came about. The first one was most people said luxury travel, that's what they wanted to do. The second one was being able to have any amount of time that they wanted. And the third one was to build a practice. And it really had me thinking that most people try to save and save and save and save for it, to take one luxury vacation maybe their entire life. And this kind of hits home because, you know, I grew up with a single mom, three kids, and about six years ago, she took us to Italy, my sister and I. It was a girls trip. So fun. She took us to Italy. In seven days, we hit, like, seven different locations, including the Amalfi Coast. And it was the first time I was ever out of the country. And mind you, I'm almost 40 years old because I just didn't have the luxury to travel or ever have any extra money. My family just never had that, nor did I, because I just didn't know what that looked like. I didn't know how to do it. And so it really had me thinking, I really should do a podcast breaking down how to do luxury travel so that people can live out their dreams. Because for me, that's what makes me most excited when you all hit your dreams. It just lights me up and makes me want to keep going and pushing harder because it's. I just know how amazing that feels when you're able to accomplish the dreams that you set out to do. So today's episode, I really wanted to dive into how you're going to travel in luxury and what does that look like? And so I came up with some creative ways to do that. So let's start with number one. Number one is the fastest way to travel and get that luxury travel. So number one. Number one is you want to pull your audience. So if you have an audience right now, maybe on Instagram, maybe on Facebook, maybe it's a text message chain, maybe it's an email chain. You want to ask the audience what they want, so you really want to say, hey, guys, if I were to create something, would you want to travel with me over here? And by the way, do you like beaches? Do you like mountains? Do you like. What else is there? Beach, mountains, I don't know. Do you like rocky places? Like, what area of the country do you like? And you're going to then poll them and see what they want. That's the first step. The second step is you got to determine what you want. So you have to go on and see. Okay, well, how could I do this? What does that look like? Would I travel across the world? Would people travel across the world? Poll your audience. Would they actually go to a different country with you? And I'm asking this, and I'm saying this because I want you guys to think about retreats. So not just treating one on one because, you know, you maybe charge 200 a session or maybe 250, that's a lot of hours that you have to save up to go on a luxury vacation. Comparatively, if you do a retreat, a retreat, you can get money fairly quickly and it could also be your vacation. So I'm trying to hit a twofer here, and I want to say this too. People crave connections. They crave time away from their current environment. They crave time where they can think and heal themselves. And that, to me, is what retreats are about. Retreats are about being in different environment so that the brain opens up because it's not overwhelmed by all the stress of the day to day. And it's able to comprehend and think differently because the nervous system isn't as upregulated. And I think that's the benefit of a retreat and a retreat environment is you're able to think differently. And maybe new ideas come up that allow you to progress things in a way that you want. Maybe when you're at a retreat, you decide that day that you're going to change your entire life and that's it. Because you made a decision at that retreat because you thought so hard, because you had a moment to think. That's huge, guys. That's what you want at a retreat. You want it to be life changing. So my point is, the fastest way is creating a retreat in a place that you want to go to, and your audience also wants to go to. And so what you do is you say, okay, how much is this room gonna cost me that I need to rent out? So maybe it's gonna cost you $500.
