Now let's get into today's episode. Welcome back to the Pelvibiz Podcast. I'm going to give you a little backstory of how I got started and where my passion comes from. So I've been practicing for 10 years as a pelvic and orthopedic physical therapist. And eight years ago I remember working at an outpatient orthopedic clinic and I asked my boss for Christmas if, if I had to go back and visit my family in Atlanta. At that time my dad just got diagnosed with cancer and she was like, no, you cannot do that. And that to me was a big gut punch being like, you know what, work comes first and not family. And that was not aligning with my values. On top of that, there was just an increased push of paperwork and checking the boxes and not working with the patients. And again, that really went against my kind of moral code. I didn't feel comfortable with that. I remember I couldn't even take like a sip of water because I really want to treat the patients. But then I had to do the paperwork. So it just got so overwhelming. In January 2020 hit and someone offered me a coaching program online. It was $99 and I was like, you know what, I'm just going to take this and see what this is all about. I took that program, I was like, you know what, I'm going to start my own side hustle. I never thought it was going to be a business, an actual business. And I just doing the tasks that were in this guide. And when March 2020 hit I said that's it, I'm over it. This is before COVID before we even knew about COVID I literally put in my two weeks notice. I quit my full time job, and literally the next day, Covid hit. I had zero patients on my schedule. No one wanted to be touched. I was like, oh, crap, I have student loan debt. I came out with $200,000 in student loan debt and I didn't know where to turn. We just bought a house that past August, so we had a house payment now. It was like, oh my gosh, what am I going to do? I started standing on trailheads and like yelling at runners because people were outside, but people weren't inside. No one was gathering inside. So I was like, hey, you over there, come to this parking lot. I'll do a movement assessment on you. And at this point, it was like the lowest point in my journey. I was a doctor of physical therapy, standing on a trailhead, screaming at people, just begging for me to be able to work with them and touch them. And this was all for free because how dare someone pay me? And also like, how dare someone come close to me? Because it was Covid times. And really people were very unsure of these times. So once I started doing that, I actually started gaining momentum in these people that I were just was meeting outside was like, hey, I can benefit from you. At one point, I was treating in parks with a treatment table, and then I was mobile, so I would go into their homes. For some odd reason, people felt more comfortable me coming into their homes, especially on the newer faces of COVID So I was like, cool, I can come to your home. That's no problem. So I started out mobile, and within one month, I was able to replace my income that I was making at my outpatient orthopedic job. And that was huge. It was a huge boost of confidence because before then, my brother, my dad, my husband, everyone thought I was crazy for this. They were like, what are you doing? You're leaving a stable job. Don't do that. And the only person that believed in me was my mom. And she said, do it. You can do this. So I knew I had to audit my situation. I knew I needed $4,000 to live. And I said, okay, I gotta make $4,000 to make a living. And I was able to do that. Within one month, I was able to do that. And that's what propelled me to be a mobile physical therapist. I traveled an hour and a half to many different places. I sat in parking lots and the freezing cold and the hot, when no one will let you in to go to the bathroom. Because again, it was Covid time. So nothing was open. I was making phone calls from my iPad and my iPhone and the car and trying to just schedule whoever. I was scheduling meetings, zoom calls in the car. I basically lived in my car because I would travel an hour and a half away from my house and I would have to stay down in like the around D.C. area because I didn't want to come back and then have to drive all the way back down because people were just scattered all over the city. And I was taking whoever, whenever, at all times of day to see the patients and build up my client load. So that's how I got started. And then after that, I started getting really into it to where I didn't have enough time to travel. So I was seeing max, I think six to seven patients a day. And that's a lot mobile, especially when they're an hour to an hour and a half away from you. So I thought, how can I get some of my time back? I started to pull people into my home. I literally made a bedroom in my home. People had to go through my garage, through my kitchen, past my master bedroom where my husband was hiding out, and I would start a trading in my house. I just made a room. I put a table, put a little desk in there. So I put my laptop on there and that was it. And the patients had a bathroom. They could walk down the hall, go to the bathroom, come back. And yeah, it was a little awkward at first, but I got the hang of it. I just stepped outside while they got dressed of the room. And then, yeah, we just did our thing. And it actually ended up working out well because I got some of my time back, so that was good. And some people actually wanted to come to my house rather than me go to their house. So everyone's different comfort levels, different options. Once I did that, September 2020, I decided, you know what, I have enough saved right now that I could actually go and get a space. I was very concerned about a space and having to pay that. I was super, super nervous about it and scared. So that's why I put people in my house, because I knew I didn't have to have an extra payment. And it actually worked out really well because Covid everyone was moving out of buildings in September 2020 and I was moving in. So I got a great deal for. I signed a year lease. I had no clue what I was doing. I signed it literally within. Within 14 hours of me signing that lease. I had a patient in there, My husband brought the table, a Plant a Costco box flipped upside down that I had my lube, a trash bag that we just had my linens in. It was a hot mess. But I just started treating patients in there, so that was pretty cool. And then at that time, September on, I was seeing, I got up to 50 patients a week for months by myself. No admin, no other pts, no one. It was just me doing the thing. I was working. The positive to that I was able to save up a lot of money. The negative to that, I basically was burning myself out because it was just too much. I should have hired way Sooner. Let's see, January 2021, that is when I hired my first admin. And then literally a week later I hired my first pt. That first pt. Within two months she quit on me and did neuro rehab. So that was a huge gut punch because I was already so tired and burnt out. And then she decided to leave and then I had to find a new PT and it took me about another month to two months to find one. And then I just started hiring another one and I hired another admin and the story goes on from there. Now I have seven people on staff. Within the last year, 2021, we grew to seven people on staff. So we've had really a lot of growth at orthopelvic. We hopefully are continuing to grow. I want to double that this next year and it has truly changed my life. I hired a coach personally to help guide me through this process so that it can only accelerate me. So that's why in two years I went from no business to having a multiple six figure, seven figure practice and being able to live the life that I want. So that is what has inspired me to really help, to really help other pelvic PTs and OTs. It's truly changed my life and the fact that I am able to be at home right now doing work instead of having my hands one on one in clinic training patient after patient, I can make a bigger impact. For me it's really about impact. I can impact so many pelvic health PTs and OTs to be able to change their lives. And think about how many of you guys are then going to go on and impact so many patients lives, other people's lives, other pts lives. Think of that. So that's what I started to learn, that I really wanted to make impact and how I do that is really keep progressing the field forward. And I knew that this was my passion and so I wanted to really dive deeper into it and how I was going to do that was be able to come up with coaching programs and guide you guys through this so that you have a very clear path, very direct path so that you can get to where you want to be the fastest you wanted to possible. I want to show pelvic PTs and OTs how to really improve their life, their fitness, their family life, every single thing about their wellness and well being that I have learned, that we've never learned in school at all. I really want to teach you guys. It's truly my passion because it's honestly has changed my life, my fitness life, my family life, just with my relationships, every single aspect, it's completely changed. And from understanding how to grow a business, start a business, it's just completely changed and it really changes you as a person and you have to become a different person to make changes in your business because when you make changes in your business, it's actually going to change your life because you have to change as a person to be able to make the business grow and get over the beliefs that you actually have. And that is what truly helps accelerate business. Typically people don't understand this, but you are typically the person that holds yourself back. And when you hire someone like a coach can help you with these beliefs that you have or with these insecurities that you have to help give you a clearer path to help accelerate you. So personally that's why I hired a coach and and he has gotten me to this point of where I'm at this today and it's truly inspired me to help you guys know this path because I am a pelvic health pea. I do have a practice and I have been coaching clients for a year now, not really officially until October 2021. And in that program we had people 2 to 3 to 4x their income in two months, which is amazing. So that's when I really knew I had something that could really Help pelvic health, PTs and OTs really accelerate their business. And it's very clear path. And this is where my passion comes from because I don't want someone to have to go through what I had to go through. The last eight years I had two jobs. I would work somewhere and then I would do a PRN job just to make ends meet with student loan debt and trying to just even afford a one bedroom apartment anywhere I lived. So I don't want people to have to go through that. There's a way easier path now and I have the solution. It's been proven and that is why I want to do this and coach pelvic health, PTs and OTs to grow and accelerate their practice. If you are ready to change your life, click the link in the show.
