Welcome to Pelli biz podcast. I'm Dr. Kelly Alkui. I have grown and established brick and mortar practice in Northern Virginia called Ortho Pelvic Physical Therapy and also founded Pelvibiz, which is an online business consulting company that helps healthcare providers make more money and be healthy while doing it, especially in the pelvic health realm. What's up guys? Welcome to Pelviz Podcast. I'm your host, Kelly El Houy. Today we're going to talk about how to be consistent with marketing on Instagram. I know most of you guys are like, oh, Instagram's a chore. Trust me, trust me, trust me. About three years ago I started with zero followers for Pelvis. And probably about five years ago I started with zero followers for Orthopelvic. And I thought, oh my gosh, there is no way I can build this thing. And this is already after the boom of Instagram where you know, you just posted something and so many people would follow you and all that kind of stuff. It's almost like TikTok, you know, where at first if you're posting, you got get so many followers. Now it's harder to to get those follower reach. But the followers that you do have now typically are loyal followers because they're actually following for a reason. So do not get discouraged if you're just starting out on Instagram with zero followers. I was there, trust me. And no, I did not have some overnight explosion with both companies to just get followers. It just didn't happen for me like that. Yes, there are some videos that can go viral and that can bump you 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, but it's not like all of a sudden one video goes viral and then now you have a follower account of over twenty thousand, hundred thousand, whatever it is. So just be mindful of that, that it's not honestly about the follower account. I know, you know, most people tend to look at that, but it really doesn't matter. It's are you Instagram is for. Are you actually providing content that is valuable and how you gauge that is by views. How many views does this video have? So I'm simplifying the crap out of this. If you have used to a video, that means your clients, your people on Instagram want to see that. How do you start to build up an account when you don't have any followers? The number one best thing you can do is go live with other accounts that actually have followers. That's it. Super simple. And most of you guys I know I'm telling you this right now, but most you guys actually won't do that because it's. It's too scary. And I get it, I get it. And if that's too scary, then do a trial run on Zoom on your phone. And so that way it's not live. Or just go live and like, say, hey, it's our first time live. Bear with us. If you have questions, please put it below. Have your friend come on and start asking questions. So you could just answer the questions live that you've already been prepped in your head. Like, if that's, you know, that makes you feel better, great. But going live with another account that has followers is how your account starts to get followers. That's it. Super simple. Another way you can do it is you can pay an account that has followers that potentially would be yours. And you could say, hey, I will pay you $60 to post, to do a collab post. And they could say, yay. Or Nate. And then, great, you either do collab post and you pay them and. Or you can do it for free if you know, both parties agree. So that's another way that you can do marketing on Instagram. Now, Instagram has its own dynamic demographics, and Instagram has its own thing it wants to see on Instagram. Instagram and all the apps want to make sure that you stay on there, their app. So the biggest thing now they're all going to, whether it's TikTok, Instagram, even Twitter now is joining the world of video, YouTube they are viewing and give you more credit. If someone is staying on your profile for longer to watch videos, they're giving you more, you know, credits in the world of Instagram, which means that more people, they will reward you by more people seeing your stuff. So what this means is value, value, value. You cannot these days just produce a stupid video and put it on Instagram, because, I mean, you can. And by the way, when you first start out, you will. And that's okay because you don't have any followers anyways. So who cares if you mess up? It doesn't matter. Literally doesn't matter, because no one's going to see it, okay? But as you get better at it, okay, people will start to see it. And you have to be valuable. Like, you have to provide good things. Otherwise, if you post every single day and people are like, oh, I've watched your video a couple times. I don't really. I don't really like it. I'm going to keep scrolling. They won't even Pay you time attention. They will not even pay you time attention. We're all fighting for your time so that you can understand what we do well and what we can help you out with. That's all we're doing. So I'm not saying you have to spend five hours on these videos. Please don't. Actually, the videos I spent, like, honestly 30 seconds on are the ones that go viral, but that's not every time. But really, don't overthink it and just put it out there and start seeing which ones land which ones don't. For me, when I started out, I absolutely hated showing my face on camera. I couldn't talk on camera. I couldn't even see my name on camera. I had to put on my makeup on camera. And I just was like, oh, my God, this is so unattainable because it took me a whole full day to just like, say one video. And I was like, this is so stupid. I hate it. But then I realized I can't show up like that because it's not how I show up every single day, and I won't do it. So basically what I had to do is just say, okay, I'm going to show up like this. I'm going to show up with this acne and rosacea or whatever the heck's on my face, and I'm just going to show up like me. And I don't really care. And I just got to, like, give people freaking value. That's all. They don't care about my face. They care about them. So they care about, can I give them value to help solve their problem? Great. Then they're going to listen to me. And if I could do that, and hopefully I do that well for you guys, what that's my goal is I really, really try to give you just straight up, just, what can you do next? What can you do next? Like, let's keep the ball moving and give you tips and tricks so that you can continue to grow your business, whether or not that's online or brick and mortar practice. I do both and I coach both. And so, you know, Instagram wants you to have great content so that people stay on the platform and they will pay you, by the way, if you monetize it. But that's just later when you. When you get more followers, you can do that. But, you know, you gotta understand how to use Instagram as a massive marketing machine. I use this example a lot because I was one of these people and I didn't realize it until I didn't have any time. So I was the person that. I absolutely love doing workshops. I love talking to people in person. I, you know, workshops are my jam. I convert well in workshops because I can connect with people. And I just. I don't know, I just love people online. I'm like, I have to talk to this phone. Like, this phone doesn't give me any feedback, doesn't smile at me. It doesn't. Doesn't look at me. I have to look at myself on this phone. Like, I just, you know, it doesn't give me any feedback. Then talk to me. So honestly, what I did was I printed out a mom that I had leakage with at this burn boot camp class, and I put a picture of her honestly at the my camera. And I was like, okay, maybe if I act like I'm talking to her, it's become more natural because me talking to my phone, I was like, this is so stupid. I can't do this. And it just got. It was just weird. And so I was like, okay, well, that's not gonna. That's. I tried it. It slightly works. That may help you. I mean, you know, that may be a tip where you put the person that you're trying to talk to, like, literally on your phone screen, or you print them out and put them on, you know, your right by your camera. Another hack I did, which for me worked out well, was I do best. And part of this is, like, knowing what you do best. I do best when people just throw random questions at me. I can talk a lot easier that way rather than, like, coming up with, like, a script to say and talk about it. Like, I just do better right off the cuff. So I like when people ask me questions, because then I can just, like, my head just starts going and it starts working. So for me, it was like, hey, by the way, husband, can you ask me these top 10 questions that I. That I came up with? Can you ask these questions? And then I didn't plan out the answer, so I was like, I'll just answer them when the camera's on. And so he would say it. I would answer. I would, like, say. He would be like, okay, let me give you an example. He would say, what. What was the hardest thing you ever had to endure in business? And then I would repeat it back. The hardest thing I ever had to endure in business was understanding how to hire and fire people. And then that right there, I would cut into a clip and then post that clip on Instagram. That's it. And it was just more Natural for me, rather than being like, okay, I have to say these words and, and then I have to stick to this topic and I have to do this and blah, blah, blah. It was just like I was just to try to say like two lines. And when I'm saying this, I'm not kidding, two lines took me like three hours because I was trying to say each word over and over and over again the same way that I wrote it out. Sometimes I would even like put it on a mirror and write with a, like a Sharpie or like, you know those, the dry erase markers. Put it on a mirror, write it out, have the phone directly in the mirror pointing at me. But then you can see my eyes just trying to read the thing and I sound like a robot. It's horrible. So the more natural issue can be great, but you're not going to start out that way. Just so you know, okay, it's going to be, it's going to be very messy. But that's the best part, and that's how you know you're going to make it is if you don't just start, stop when it gets hard, or you don't stop when you're like so uncomfortable that that's key. And so when it comes to being consistently marketing on Instagram, I would say the biggest thing that I also had to learn was just blocking my time. Well, before even that, number one, I had to do a mindset shift. I had to say social media isn't stupid, which I truly did believe. I believe social media was for all people that wanted to get attention. And I wasn't that kind of. I wasn't that kind of person, which is accurate because you are on Instagram to get attention, to help bring awareness to your brand. Okay, but like, I just didn't want to be that person. I just wanted people to naturally, like, have a connection in person. That's why I'm such an in person person, because I love doing events and like, I just like online stupid. And I even said this, I was like, you can't even make friends online. Like, why would I want to put myself out there online when I can't even be friends with them? And the reality is you actually can be friends with people online. You can, you know, DM them and become friends with them and learn about them and. But I just thought it was so stupid because they weren't in front of me and it didn't felt, it didn't feel like a human connection. Now after I've been doing it for a Couple years now. It does feel, feel more human. Like, like, oh, I did make an impact in this person's life. Like, cool. Oh. And it wasn't actually in person. Oh, by the way. And this person lives like across the usa. Like that's cool. But at first I wasn't grasping that that was a thing and I just thought it was like for all these attention seeking people and I was just like, that's just not me. I don't want to do that. But the reality was I was just uncomfortable with it and I needed to do it. So basically if you're uncomfortable with it, hear me out today. You need to do it. That's huge. So I think that's, you know, that's major. What else do I want to say about being consistent? And then I would say number two is then time blocking. Time blocking. So there's a couple stages here that I think people forget. The first stage is like number one, trying to plan the content. Number two, taking time to film the content. Number three, editing the content. Number four, posting the content. Coming up, the caption of it, which already should be created based on when you're planning it out. And then number five is you have to study the content. You have to study what works. If something has over 2,000 views, guys, to your videos, then I say that as a winner. So 2000 views. If 2000 people have seen your video, that means to me you've made it. Okay, you cannot reach 2,000 people in a workshop. It doesn't happen. So I mean, I don't know, I've never put on a workshop with 2,000 people. But if you're able to reach someone with 5 minutes, 10 minutes of your time making one piece of content, you get 2,000 people. This is the difference between in person marketing and online marketing. And I don't think many of us grasp this because I was one of those people. I didn't understand it. I thought again, it was just stupid. But now I'm realizing it's going to take me less time, which we all want. Don't you want, don't you want your time back? Most of us want our time back. That's why we got into business. So if you want your time back, you have to become good at social media. You have to be. Because if you are good at it, and look, I'm not the greatest, but I'm decent, okay, if you are good at it, then you're able to attract the people because you are bringing awareness to your brand. That's all this is about. If you are not good at it, you can start in person and doing the workshops. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem is you will get very tired doing that. And every single one of your weekends will be taken up by workshops. And by the way, in the startup phase, you may have to do that. And that is 100% okay. Because you are giving, they are meeting you. There's nothing like in person. It's the deepest connection that you can have with someone. The fastest that they can trust you is in person. So I absolutely love that. The problem is it will wear you out. It will wear you out. So if you are not good at being online, I highly suggest you start doing that. We, by the way, if you guys are looking for something, we have a social media kit, no joke, that is up to date every single month, gives you the top 150 hooks that will get your audience to pay attention to you. Specifically for pelvic health. No one's doing this, by the way. Okay? We are showing you how to attract people online, how to use Instagram to get your people, because most of our clients that we want, our target audience is actually on Instagram and Facebook. So you can, you know, post on both. This is, this is so important and I really want you guys to understand that. So you got to change your mindset around. You have to change your mindset around, like, social media, stupid and whatever. Maybe I'm just talking to myself. You got to change it around. Social media is a free marketing tool that if you're not utilizing in 2025, you have missed the boat because it's free. You're never going to get a time like this ever again. You will not. It will change the AI, which I'll talk about another whole podcast on. So utilize it. It's a low hanging fruit. You got to just get uncomfortable and just do the thing. And if you need help, that is why I am here. That is why I'm here. So if you need help, please reach out because I do have a kit for you that I think would be massively, massively helpful. And also the last thing here for social media is it builds trust with your audience. An ad cannot build trust the audience. But if someone sees you live like this or if someone sees you just on a post constantly, they're like, oh, okay, I know this person. Or they look up your stories like, oh, I know this person. But an ad won't do that. So to build trust quickly with people, social media. So if you guys are wanting more help with social media, I'd be happy to help you out again. We have a social media kit so you can comment below or DM me @pelvibiz on Instagram and just say social media kit and I will give you the social media kit. So if you want that, just let me know. But hopefully this is super helpful and hopefully this inspires you guys to keep producing on Instagram, because our clients are there and I really believe it is the most underserved marketing tool on the planet.
